Rex (00:00:29 - 00:00:40): Where does he get those wonderful toys? And now here are your hosts, Ryan and Ed Campbell. That’s if you’re wanting to do the program or just go into the show.
Ryan (00:00:42 - 00:00:42): No, that’s up to you, man.
Ed (00:00:43 - 00:00:44): Up to me? What am I, a producer?
Ryan (00:00:45 - 00:00:47): No, I just make this shit. You’re the host.
Ed (00:00:47 - 00:00:49): Oh, I’m the host, you’re the producer.
Ryan (00:00:49 - 00:00:49): Yeah.
Ed (00:00:50 - 00:00:52): All right, well, are you producing stuff or what?
Ryan (00:00:52 - 00:00:53): It’s producing.
Ed (00:00:53 - 00:00:54): It’s producing.
Ryan (00:00:54 - 00:00:55): I’m producing something.
Ed (00:00:55 - 00:00:57): So that means— oh, wait a minute, we’re recording.
Ryan (00:00:57 - 00:00:58): We are live.
Ed (00:00:58 - 00:01:00): Oh, you hit— where’s the red light?
Ryan (00:01:00 - 00:01:02): There’s 3 of them right there.
Ed (00:01:02 - 00:01:10): Oh, I thought there was a big red light. We’re in the studio. We’re not even in studio. Where the hell are we? Oh, wait a minute. We’re in the bunker. When was the last time we recorded in the bunker?
Ryan (00:01:10 - 00:01:11): It’s been a while since we’ve been out.
Ed (00:01:11 - 00:01:24): It’s been a while. Well, it’s been a while. It’s been a while. So let’s, let’s get right into this. Welcome to Tales from the Collectiverse. Yay. Yay. Uh, we are season 6, episode 3, our March edition. We’re 3 for 3 so far for this year.
Ryan (00:01:24 - 00:01:31): So far so good. Now this may come out on April 1st-ish. It may have just missed March, but it’s Still our third episode, aiming for 12.
Ed (00:01:31 - 00:01:48): Well, here’s our joke. It’s actually the March 30th episode and it’s dropping on April 1st. So there you go, April Fools. Uh, as Ryan said, I’m the host, I guess, Ed, and with me is Ryan. But I already said Ryan, so let him introduce himself anyways.
Ryan (00:01:48 - 00:01:49): I’m Ryan.
Ed (00:01:49 - 00:01:50): Hey, there we go.
Ryan (00:01:50 - 00:01:50): How you doing, Ed?
Ed (00:01:51 - 00:01:56): I’m— I am tired. This has been A massive toy hunting month.
Ryan (00:01:56 - 00:01:58): Well, a whole week in Vegas will do that to you.
Ed (00:01:59 - 00:02:04): Oh yeah, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, except for the toys that you find in Vegas and you bring them home.
Ryan (00:02:04 - 00:02:04): Somehow.
Ed (00:02:05 - 00:02:10): And you try to figure out how to get extra toys into your carry-on when you didn’t plan on finding stuff.
Ryan (00:02:10 - 00:02:10): Nice.
Ed (00:02:11 - 00:02:12): But I found some stuff.
Ryan (00:02:12 - 00:02:16): I meant to ask you, we’ll talk about this again later, but how was the airport on your way home from Vegas?
Ed (00:02:16 - 00:02:40): No problem. Oh, okay, good. Well, let’s get into the travel talks part of the show. Sure. Um, no, there was no problems in any of the airports I was going into. Um, TSA, no 5-hour waits. Oh, other people did. Uh, people were— some of my colleagues who were stuck trying to get out of Hartsfield-Jackson in Atlanta. Yeah, they were 6 to 7 hours.
Ryan (00:02:40 - 00:02:40): Wow.
Ed (00:02:41 - 00:02:42): Waiting in line.
Ryan (00:02:42 - 00:02:43): That’s crazy.
Ed (00:02:43 - 00:02:51): I flew out of Toronto, no problem. Uh, flying out of Vegas on Thursday morning, Sorry, Friday morning, um, 20 minutes.
Ryan (00:02:52 - 00:02:52): Nice.
Ed (00:02:53 - 00:03:26): And that was, that was with TSA PreCheck, but yeah, I was 20 minutes. There was a huge line, but what they did was, um, they put a sign up saying dogs in use. So normally I guess, you know, pull laptops out, all that stuff, but if they have the canine there, yeah, they can just— bags keep zipped, goes through the X-ray machine. Nice. So it was no time getting through to get out of Vegas. The other nice thing is, is a lot of the people, it made me feel good watching all the people thanking the TSA.
Ryan (00:03:27 - 00:03:27): Yeah.
Ed (00:03:28 - 00:04:01): Like there’s a bunch of people say, hey, we’re thankful for you, you keep us safe. And yeah, so it was nice. It was nice actually seeing people show gratitude. You know, cause I’m always friendly with everybody I see at the places. I figure if they’re doing a job, either not capable of doing or not wanting to do, then I should be thankful for them for doing it. Yeah, so I’m always polite and thankful, and when I’m going through places and if they tell me to do something, I just— I comply with everything I’m told. Like, hey, they’re just there doing a job.
Ryan (00:04:01 - 00:04:02): Yep, exactly.
Ed (00:04:02 - 00:04:09): And so, but yeah, Vegas was awesome. Weather was good. I went to Hoover Dam.
Ryan (00:04:10 - 00:04:12): You hunted some Decepticons at the Hoover Dam?
Ed (00:04:12 - 00:04:35): I went to Hoover Dam, which was neat. It was hot. It was hot. Damn hot. Um, I ever— I kept saying that. Everyone’s like, how was Hoover Dam? Damn hot. And then like a couple people get, oh yeah, damn, huh? Um, no, Hoover Dam was awesome. It was always on my bucket list. I was supposed to see it 6 years ago. COVID happened.
Ryan (00:04:35 - 00:04:35): Yep.
Ed (00:04:35 - 00:04:57): Um, so yeah, Monday, Monday morning We’re there and my colleague and I was like, we had nothing to do because it was supposed to be travel day and we both got in early. And I said, well, Hoover Dam’s a half hour away, you want to go? And he says, well, I haven’t been there in 25 years. And I’m like, well, it’s still there.
Ryan (00:04:57 - 00:04:59): Yeah, I think it’s still there.
Ed (00:05:00 - 00:05:18): So yeah, we went and it was awesome. You— it is a really cool structure, like just looking at it. Plus they put a new bridge in. Okay, so apparently the only way you could get from Las— like from Nevada to Arizona was drive over Hoover Dam.
Ryan (00:05:18 - 00:05:18): Yep.
Ed (00:05:20 - 00:05:42): But now they put a bridge in for a bypass, so we walked on the bridge and, and you get a really cool visual of the, of the dam. That was cool. Uh, did the Strip. Walked from MGM all the way up to Treasure Island. If you’ve been to Vegas, you know what that’s like. And then turn around, walk back. Uh, the crowd— there was no crowd.
Ryan (00:05:43 - 00:05:45): Like, are they still doing Canadian money at Park?
Ed (00:05:45 - 00:05:46): I have no idea.
Ryan (00:05:46 - 00:05:46): Okay.
Ed (00:05:47 - 00:06:13): Um, I had people say that. I don’t know. I paid in American for— paid— yeah, I paid in American for everything. Um, Yeah, there wasn’t a lot of crowd, but a lot of renovations happening in Vegas too. I was there 2 years ago. The Mirage was still open. The Mirage is being torn down. They’re building Planet Hollywood Hotel. That is the freakiest building I’ve ever seen.
Ryan (00:06:13 - 00:06:13): Okay.
Ed (00:06:14 - 00:06:30): It’s a hotel in the shape of a qatar. The thing is going to be 800 feet high when it’s done. And where it’s going now, like part of the qatar comes out over top of Las Vegas Boulevard. And you’re standing there looking at it and it’s like, that does—
Ryan (00:06:30 - 00:06:36): like, my brain, how is this gonna be a— how’s it gonna stand with people in it?
Ed (00:06:36 - 00:07:26): I, I— my brain can’t, can’t grasp or comprehend it’s going to be a building. Yeah, it’s like, well, it looks like it’s going to be a sign for the hotel. And then you look, it’s like, no, like, each of those floors are 10 feet. Like, this thing is going to be massive. And, oh, that’s cool. Uh, Caesars Palace, there’s a bunch of construction in front of Caesars Palace, so like they’ve got barriers up, so you can’t really see a lot. The hotel we were staying at was like— we weren’t on the Strip, we were Las Vegas Boulevard, but down, we’re south, the South Point, and it’s a massive hotel. We get there, like, it’s massive. And it was like, oh, that’s kind of a dive. By the time we got there, the National Finals Rodeo used to be hosted at the South Point.
Ryan (00:07:26 - 00:07:26): Okay.
Ed (00:07:26 - 00:07:30): They have a huge riding arena and they have weekly rodeos there.
Ryan (00:07:30 - 00:07:31): Oh, nice.
Ed (00:07:31 - 00:07:37): So when I was there, like this weekend as we’re recording, was the championship, uh, calf roping.
Ryan (00:07:38 - 00:07:38): Okay.
Ed (00:07:38 - 00:07:49): So where our, where our meeting was, it was over on the arena side, so all you can smell is cow shit. On our side of the building, which we’re like, hey, we’re here to sell tractors anyway.
Ryan (00:07:49 - 00:07:51): So it works.
Ed (00:07:51 - 00:07:52): Cow poop makes sense.
Ryan (00:07:53 - 00:07:54): Everybody that’s used to it.
Ed (00:07:55 - 00:08:15): Afterwards, like after we’re done and loaded up, I got to walk. I walked around the facility. It’s amazing for being a casino. Nobody stopped me anywhere. I was walking through back spaces. I just went up and said, yeah, I need to get in there. Okay. Security, boop, boop, boop. Open a door and let me in. I walked through back spaces. I—
Ryan (00:08:15 - 00:08:16): Were you dressed professionally?
Ed (00:08:16 - 00:09:44): Like, I had my work gear on. Yeah, I had a badge from my work, but we had already left. Like, I was trying to move a tractor and load it up and put it on a truck. Yeah, but yeah, I’m walking through all the back spaces and then I got down into the corrals and the barn and walked around there and there’s a bunch of cowboys down there with a horse. And I thought, I’m not going to walk past them because they’re working. I don’t need to be— I don’t want to spook a horse or something like that. So I I went a different direction and I went down and watched cows for a bit. And that, you know, because cows calm me, so I sat and watched the cows. And then I did post them on my personal Instagram and I had one person message me and say, why are they so skinny? I’m like, oh, those are athlete cows, they ain’t feeding cows. Like, these ones are— these ones run, they’re bound to— they’re born to work. Um, and then on Thursday I had a, you know, like I worked until noon, which was 3 o’clock here. So I’m like, oh, I’m taking the rest day off. Yeah. And, uh, me and a couple other guys, we went to Fremont Street, and man, that was freaky. Like, when they call it Freakmont Street, like, it’s— oh yeah, like, it’s tame on Las Vegas Boulevard compared to the crap that goes on at Fremont. And then Fremont is where all the original casinos are, and they’re like dive casinos and they’re dirty and scuzzy. But we had so much fun.
Ryan (00:09:45 - 00:09:45): Nice.
Ed (00:09:45 - 00:10:34): Um, I laugh. We got there, it’s like, oh, let’s get a drink. It’s like, okay, what do you guys have? And they’re like, well, we’ll— we started drinking Screwdrivers at 8 o’clock this morning playing backrats, so why don’t we have Screwdrivers? It’s like, all right. I said, I’m driving, so I’ll have Michelob Ultra, 2 Screwdrivers. The guy pours the drinks, like, all right. I said, I got this round. Pull out my credit card, hand it to him. $50. I’m like, $50? I joked. I said, what are they, NASA screwdrivers? Like, what the hell, man? $50 for, for 3 drinks on Fremont Street. By the time we went back to the South Point, I’m like, I’ll buy another round there. 2 rum and Cokes and a Michelob Ultra, $14. I was going to say, like, and then when we were gambling, like, those guys, they know how to gamble. So we’re gambling. Sorry, they’re gambling. I’m watching.
Ryan (00:10:34 - 00:10:35): Yeah.
Ed (00:10:36 - 00:10:45): Free drinks. Yeah. And then I’m staying with them and they’re like, what would you like? I’m like, McClub Ultra. They just come bring me— I’m staring, watching. They just brought me a McClub Ultra.
Ryan (00:10:45 - 00:10:48): But you’re with them. And so you might just step in and drop some money too.
Ed (00:10:48 - 00:11:12): Oh yeah. And so like every time they come back, he’d grab a $5 chip and throw it on her, throw it on her tray. I was watching a lot of craps because the one guy I was with, he’s— he knows the rules of craps. He plays craps. Okay. So we were at Binion’s, which is this one of the— it’s casino that’s been around since the ’30s.
Ryan (00:11:12 - 00:11:12): Okay.
Ed (00:11:12 - 00:11:50): And then it became Binion’s in like the ’50s. And Binion also owns the South Point. He was a big-time horse guy. And so we’re there and their little short craps table. And Nathan, he says to me, he’s like, look, I don’t want to shoot, you shoot for me. I’ve never thrown craps. He’s like, oh, Yeah, well, I trust you. He tells the guy running the table, he’s like, he’s my shooter. So hand me the dice. Anyways, I throw. I said to him, I said, what do you want? He says, I don’t know, throw a 9. 9. What? So how’d you do that? I’m like, I don’t know.
Ryan (00:11:50 - 00:11:51): He did it with his luck.
Ed (00:11:51 - 00:12:07): So he hands it back. So they put the button on 9. And I’m like, what do you want? Well, he says, The pass line’s on 9, shoot a 9, 9. He’s like, you did it again. We, he was the only one playing the table because everyone’s like, ah, short craps table, I’m not playing that one. They want the big long one.
Ryan (00:12:07 - 00:12:08): They want the big fancy looking one.
Ed (00:12:08 - 00:12:28): So then he gets that. Well, a couple other people walking by and they hand me dice. I said, what do you want? He says, do a 9 again. I said, well, I’ll try. Boom, 9. Anyway, so people were like, wait a minute. So these other guys, they’re like, wait a minute, he just shot 3 pass lines in a row. So then they start putting money on.
Ryan (00:12:29 - 00:12:29): Yeah.
Ed (00:12:30 - 00:12:53): So then we’re like, what do you want? And he says, I don’t know, let’s do something different. Do 6. So he threw money on 6, 6. And he’s like, wait a minute. So they kept 9 times. I threw one and hit. I threw for 9 times. 6 of those times I hit what he wanted. Okay, so 6, 9.
Ryan (00:12:53 - 00:12:54): Yeah.
Ed (00:12:54 - 00:12:58): And then I crapped out. I crapped out on roll 10.
Ryan (00:12:58 - 00:12:58): Yeah.
Ed (00:12:59 - 00:13:06): But they said if you hit 25, we’ll give you a hat. I’m like, but not too bad, like, for never shooting craps before.
Ryan (00:13:06 - 00:13:06): Yeah.
Ed (00:13:07 - 00:13:08): And like, you have no control of the dice.
Ryan (00:13:08 - 00:13:11): No, it’s literally just— it’s a roll of the dice.
Ed (00:13:11 - 00:13:23): Unless it’s a Jedi mind trick. Yeah, I was kind of like Qui-Gon. I’d be like, oh, you cheat. Anyways, it was fun. I had a blast. It sort of needed the recharge I wanted when I was in Vegas.
Ryan (00:13:23 - 00:13:23): Nice.
Ed (00:13:24 - 00:13:33): Uh, got to do adult stupid things and, and just like out on the street and drinking beer and just goofing around all day. It was just fun. Nice.
Ryan (00:13:33 - 00:13:34): So that’s good.
Ed (00:13:34 - 00:13:39): That’s me. Uh, how about your week? How about your month since we recorded last?
Ryan (00:13:39 - 00:14:10): Uh, It’s been a month. There’s been stuff and things and work’s work. Work’s getting busy. Uh, both works were busy, you know, comic shop’s doing well. So got some toys, not as much as you did. Well, well, toys are a good distraction as a, uh, I have a pile that I haven’t opened yet just because I keep meaning to. It’s like, oh, I’ll open these today. I was gonna— this will be my, my toy opening day. And instead I ended up turning it into, oh, I got Amazon Prime now. I can watch this and I can watch this. And oh, I got comics to read too. It’s like, oh, and then, oh wait, I got nothing done today.
Ed (00:14:10 - 00:14:18): Well, as it turns out, you know, I guess if somebody looked at the psychology when it comes down to collecting, this is called avoidance.
Ryan (00:14:18 - 00:14:18): Yep.
Ed (00:14:19 - 00:14:21): So let’s avoid everything and talk about toys.
Ryan (00:14:21 - 00:14:21): Sounds good.
Six Figures This Month: Ryan’s Pickups
Ed (00:14:22 - 00:14:28): Uh, you go first round because I got 3 pages. So buckle up everyone for a 3-hour episode talking about toys.
Ryan (00:14:29 - 00:14:42): Uh, so since we last recorded, I started off with, um, the G.I. Joe Classified Night Viper showed up. Yes, and the Mole Rat Stage 2 and Lifeline and Big Lob. So that way—
Ed (00:14:43 - 00:14:44): did you not get Hit and Run?
Ryan (00:14:45 - 00:14:51): Uh, he showed up later. He didn’t show up at the same time. So, you know, and then also, yes, I also got Hit and Run.
Ed (00:14:51 - 00:14:51): There you go.
Ryan (00:14:52 - 00:15:00): But, uh, yeah, Mole Rat Stage 2 and Night Viper, they’re, they’re already in contention for me for figures of the year.
Ed (00:15:01 - 00:15:03): You and your goddamn mole rats.
Ryan (00:15:03 - 00:15:04): Yep, I bought 2 of them.
Ed (00:15:05 - 00:15:05): Really?
Ryan (00:15:05 - 00:15:06): I did.
Ed (00:15:08 - 00:15:17): I guess just for me. I guess people like stupid things sometimes. I don’t know. I’m, I’m not a mold. You can’t, especially you can’t say it’s figure of the year.
Ryan (00:15:18 - 00:15:19): That, well, he’s—
Ed (00:15:19 - 00:15:20): you can’t.
Ryan (00:15:20 - 00:15:22): Not the figure, but he’s in, he’s in my contention.
Ed (00:15:23 - 00:15:26): No, see, it’s a re-release. Oh, it’s not available.
Ryan (00:15:26 - 00:15:37): Yeah, but that’s a new head sculpt. And since when? We don’t put rules like that in there. Usually that keeps things off of our list because we decide, well, this would be on my list, but it’s a repaint.
Ed (00:15:37 - 00:15:43): So, well, since we’re recording in the bunker, I’m looking. Where the hell is my first Mole Rat? I don’t know.
Ryan (00:15:43 - 00:15:44): Where’d you move him?
Ed (00:15:44 - 00:15:49): I don’t know. Building’s too big. He’s somewhere. Oh, there he is. He, he fell face down.
Ryan (00:15:51 - 00:15:52): Zombie down, I think.
Ed (00:15:52 - 00:15:54): No, that’s a Dire Viper.
Ryan (00:15:54 - 00:15:57): Yeah, uh, I don’t know.
Ed (00:15:57 - 00:15:58): He’s here somewhere.
Ryan (00:15:58 - 00:16:06): We’ll find them after. Um, I did something I haven’t done in a while. I went to a toy show. I went—
Ed (00:16:06 - 00:16:09): it has been a long time doing those things. They still exist.
Ryan (00:16:09 - 00:16:25): Yep. Uh, we went to the Vaughn Toy Show, huh? Because, uh, you know, it was a Sunday, Brent was working, uh, Jen wanted to go because there’s some of the, uh, like the Barbie follower toy collectors that she follows were gonna be there selling stuff and So I went, we went down, went for a ride.
Ed (00:16:26 - 00:16:26): Yep.
Ryan (00:16:26 - 00:16:35): Um, and I ended up picking up two of the two Cosmic Legions figures off of a guy that had, uh, they were open, they were loose.
Ed (00:16:35 - 00:16:38): Cosmic Legion, so like Mythic Legions. Oh, okay.
Ryan (00:16:38 - 00:16:40): They’re like sci-fi line.
Ed (00:16:40 - 00:16:42): So Visionaries, Visionaries.
Ryan (00:16:42 - 00:16:43): Well, no, not that.
Ed (00:16:43 - 00:16:45): No, not Visionaries. Not ripoff of Visionaries.
Ryan (00:16:46 - 00:17:12): No, they’re Legions, not Visionaries. Um, so the ones I got, I didn’t write their names down because it wouldn’t matter anyway, but one was like all in black, kind of almost has like an alien from Aliens head for the helmet. And then the other one was like a woman alien, like blue skin character. It comes with like a poncho, almost looks like, uh, like she’s like— and a big sniper rifle. So she’s like some kind of like sniper or something. Both of them can easily fit into like Star Wars displays.
Ed (00:17:12 - 00:17:13): Yeah.
Ryan (00:17:13 - 00:17:16): So I was like, and they were— they’re cheap. I think there’s $50 for the two of them.
Ed (00:17:16 - 00:17:18): You put them in a cantina scene.
Ryan (00:17:18 - 00:17:44): I could easily— yeah. So speaking of Star Wars though, this month I picked up, um, I got my Kyle Katarn and Quinlan Vos that I pre-ordered from GameStop, or sorry, EB. They showed up. Um, I also just the other day picked up, uh, Colonel Ward, so Sigourney Weaver’s character in the episode Mandalorian and Grogu. Yeah, I happened to be at EB and they had one of the, the white boxes. Oh yeah, there he is.
Ed (00:17:45 - 00:17:56): Sorry, my OCD kicked in. It’s a— I said, sorry, I don’t mean to step on you, but the mole rat, because you said it’s figure of the year, that’s why I did.
Ryan (00:17:57 - 00:17:59): Yeah, with the new heads. See, I don’t think—
Ed (00:17:59 - 00:18:06): completely different color too. That’s, that’s why I was looking for it, because I’m like, okay, yeah, sorry. So Mandalorian Grogu.
Ryan (00:18:07 - 00:18:15): Yeah, so from that upcoming movie, they did those, uh, the first edition boxes again with white boxes, and I saw it on the shelf, I grabbed it. That’s another cool—
Ed (00:18:16 - 00:18:16): where’d you find it?
Ryan (00:18:17 - 00:18:51): Uh, EB Games. Yeah, that was the only one they had too. They didn’t have any of the other characters at the time. I think since then I might have seen like a— I might have actually seen the Mandalorian package there, but it wasn’t in the white package, like the black package. But it’ll get opened out of the box, will get thrown away. But it’s cool looking, another cool looking Star Wars, you know, fighter pilot. Um, some more G.I. Joes came in. The Cobra La Royal Guard showed up. So that was awesome. Uh, in your travels you found a clearance-priced, uh, Desert Scorpion and his pet scorpion.
Ed (00:18:51 - 00:18:51): Yep.
Ryan (00:18:51 - 00:18:53): So I asked you to grab that for me because I had passed on it.
Ed (00:18:54 - 00:18:54): That’s a great figure.
Ryan (00:18:55 - 00:18:55): I haven’t opened them yet.
Ed (00:18:55 - 00:18:56): He’s a really good—
Ryan (00:18:56 - 00:18:59): I’ve seen him on your shelf here. That looks nice.
Ed (00:19:00 - 00:19:01): Plus a really big pet.
Ryan (00:19:01 - 00:19:15): Yeah, that’s the other problem. I’m running out of space. I have to move things around again. Um, you also found, uh, Wingnut and Screwloose from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Archie Adventures figures for me. So I think I might be done with that toy line now.
Ed (00:19:15 - 00:19:18): Yeah, because that one I thought you already had it until—
Ryan (00:19:18 - 00:19:19): no, that one I didn’t—
Ed (00:19:19 - 00:19:26): until I was like posting on our Instagram because I wanted to post more like daily, daily spottings because there was a lot of stuff I saw.
Ryan (00:19:27 - 00:19:35): Uh, and then another one of your daily spottings, you came across the, uh, the Kaiju Ranger Green Power Ranger Green Godzilla armor.
Ed (00:19:36 - 00:19:40): Yeah, those are kind of cool figures. Yeah, the Green Ranger looks good.
Ryan (00:19:40 - 00:19:45): The rest of them were kind of But yeah, it’s Godzilla and it’s another one that’s in the pile of my to-opens.
Ed (00:19:45 - 00:19:45): Yeah.
Ryan (00:19:46 - 00:19:58): Uh, and my last addition to this, and was also the probably the most recent one I picked up that you dropped off to me last week, was the Ghostbusters Rooftop Showdown 4-pack showed up. Yeah, that is some really nice packaging.
Ed (00:19:59 - 00:20:04): Yeah, that one’s a box that I’m gonna keep. That one, the packaging is almost too big.
Ryan (00:20:05 - 00:20:05): Yeah.
Ed (00:20:06 - 00:20:12): Um, but they did such a good job and the The head sculpts are really good on it. Yeah, because like I had the—
Ryan (00:20:14 - 00:20:26): I have the Mattel ones. I don’t have the— so I’ve got the old Ghostbusters, the Afterlife Ghostbusters that they put out for the Plasma series, but I didn’t pick up the like Ghostbuster 1 Ghostbusters.
Ed (00:20:26 - 00:20:28): I did, I didn’t either. I have the—
Ryan (00:20:28 - 00:20:29): had the Mattel ones.
Ed (00:20:29 - 00:20:36): I have the ones covered in goo. Yeah, I have the— I have the slimed versions because those are the ones that were blowing out.
Ryan (00:20:36 - 00:20:38): That we kept finding them at like dollar stores or like—
Ed (00:20:38 - 00:20:47): yeah, I think I bought them all at this— I think I might have bought mine at Big B. I don’t know. Yeah, because they’re all like damaged, crushed boxes and everything.
Ryan (00:20:48 - 00:20:49): That was Mattel ones, right? The old—
Ed (00:20:50 - 00:20:52): no, no, they were Plasma Series. Plasma Series.
Ryan (00:20:52 - 00:20:52): Oh, okay.
Ed (00:20:53 - 00:21:03): So I have those ones I didn’t get. Yeah, but no, these ones look really good. So yeah, my Ghostbusters shelf needs revamping because I haven’t got enough space for Ghostbusters.
Ryan (00:21:03 - 00:21:25): Yeah, that’s the thing. I, I, if I take these 4 out of pack, I don’t know where I’m putting them right now. I may have to take the Ghostbusters 2 like Christmas ones I’ve got from the old Mattel pack and just move them to a different spot or put them away because I think I pulled them out of Christmas, right? If I want to do something like that. But, um, got to make some room. That’s why, that’s another reason why I haven’t opened that box yet.
Ed (00:21:25 - 00:21:30): Well, I’ve got— so my shelf underneath my Ghostbusters is my Millennium Falcon.
Ryan (00:21:30 - 00:21:31): Yep.
Ed (00:21:31 - 00:21:37): And that’s all I really have for Star Wars on that shelf is the Falcon. So I might move the Falcon.
Ryan (00:21:37 - 00:21:37): Yeah.
Ed (00:21:38 - 00:21:44): So I just, even if I strung the Falcon up from the ceiling somewhere. So, um, all right. So you’re done.
Ryan (00:21:44 - 00:21:45): I’m done.
Six Figures This Month: Ed’s Pickups
Ed (00:21:45 - 00:22:14): Well, I’m going to go into my list. So why don’t I just continue on because you did the Plasma Series. Well, if you got it, I got it because I used the Pulse to order it. Um, so yeah, again, its packaging is phenomenal. Um, the sculpts are awesome. I— a little bit of a rant here, don’t need to keep talking about it because you’ve got them, but I really want the Plasma Series to start releasing some Ghostbusters 2 stuff.
Ryan (00:22:14 - 00:22:28): It would be nice. Yeah, like, because, you know, that’s a full, you know, the right scale. Like, yeah, they did the Matty Collector ones, but that’s a little smaller. The Plasma series is closer to an actual 6-inch figure.
Ed (00:22:28 - 00:22:28): Yep.
Ryan (00:22:28 - 00:22:38): Uh, their sculpts have been really good. They’re better than the Mattel ones were. Um, it would be nice. I know they did them as part of the Kickstarter for the Ecto-1.
Ed (00:22:38 - 00:23:07): Yep. So that’s, that’s really all they’re missing. But yeah, that’s what they’re missing to do. All right, so that was one of my pre-orders. Other pre-orders that came in Well, I actually did preorder on Big Bad, so I’m going to jump all over the place because I tried to keep everything within, within reach, or, but it’s all over the place. YOLO part. I got Optimus Prime.
Ryan (00:23:07 - 00:23:08): Oh, yes.
Ed (00:23:09 - 00:23:12): That thing is awesome. Like, that’s a really great—
Ryan (00:23:12 - 00:23:13): Yeah. The, yeah. The big ones.
Ed (00:23:14 - 00:23:15): Yeah.
Ryan (00:23:15 - 00:23:25): See, I got the smaller version. Because that’s what I’ve seen. And I, when I’ve, whenever I’ve, I did see those big ones, they had them at EB, but they want like $100 for them.
Ed (00:23:25 - 00:23:26): They’re $44 on Amazon.
Ryan (00:23:26 - 00:23:26): I know.
Ed (00:23:27 - 00:23:54): So that’s where I got it. And I’m like, I was like, oh, I really want the Megatron, but I’m not going to do the Megatron. But the minute they got it, start to do a Shockwave, Shockwave, uh, yeah, I’m all over it. So, um, And then I had, I had them pre-order the Transformers Block E’s trans truck version. Yeah, of Optimus Prime. Yeah.
Ryan (00:23:55 - 00:23:57): And that was their new car, I think, are they called the Wheels line or something?
Ed (00:23:58 - 00:24:10): Yeah, Wheels line. So I got him. That was cool because you can put together trailer and Wheeler, Wheelie comes, Wheeler comes with it. Uh, so you actually build the truck. So that was fun.
Ryan (00:24:11 - 00:24:11): Blockies are fun.
Ed (00:24:12 - 00:24:42): Yeah, so I have— I bought both of those. So again, Transformers is Optimus Prime. And also I went to Dollar Tree, uh, down in Erie, uh, because I heard that there was a bunch of WWE stuff coming out. Okay, they had a, um, you know, the Titan Series style figures, like They’re the big straight-armed ones. Yeah, the 12-inch ones that most toy lines have. Apparently WWE’s coming out with those.
Ryan (00:24:43 - 00:24:45): Yep, they have been. They’ve had them off and on for a while.
Ed (00:24:45 - 00:24:47): So there’s a Cody— I was looking for Cody.
Ryan (00:24:47 - 00:24:47): Yeah.
Ed (00:24:48 - 00:24:57): Um, and in the photos, like, they have CM Punk but no tattoos. But then it’s like, oh well, that’s a lot of work to put tattoos on. But then they have The Rock with all his tattoos.
Ryan (00:24:58 - 00:24:58): Yeah.
Ed (00:24:58 - 00:25:08): So I’m like, uh, CM Punk haters. But, um, For $1.75, I found these little just plastic figures.
Ryan (00:25:09 - 00:25:09): Okay.
Ed (00:25:09 - 00:25:11): Of Optimus Prime.
Ryan (00:25:11 - 00:25:12): Oh, nice.
Ed (00:25:12 - 00:25:25): So, you know, for $1.75, it’s like, yeah, packaging looks cool. Transformers. And, you know, I just put them on the shelf. The only thing is, is they didn’t put any paint application where the, where the, the windshield is on his chest.
Ryan (00:25:25 - 00:25:26): Okay.
Ed (00:25:26 - 00:25:32): So it’s just like all red. So it just like looks weird. But yeah, I just put them on the shelf anyway.
Ryan (00:25:32 - 00:25:38): If you’re gonna take it out of the package, you get a little silver paint because they also had like Duke, Snake Eyes, and Cobra Commander.
Ed (00:25:38 - 00:25:45): Okay, so I bought them. So I was like, I’m already buying 3 and it’s just GI Joe and they’re gonna stay in the package. They’re not in here yet, they’re still in the house.
Ryan (00:25:45 - 00:25:48): No, those are those World’s Smallest figures.
Ed (00:25:48 - 00:25:54): Um, yeah, because I found those World’s Smallest. I actually got them— those are the ones I got on the auction site.
Ryan (00:25:54 - 00:25:55): Oh, okay.
Ed (00:25:55 - 00:25:57): So apparently I already had some of them.
Ryan (00:25:57 - 00:25:59): I was gonna say, you had— I know you had some.
Ed (00:25:59 - 00:26:49): Yeah, well, I bought them. I didn’t expect to win them. Yeah, I just sort of got dumped on them. Um, also, um, kind of continuing on from last month, uh, Dungeons Dragons Honor Among Thieves. I, from Big Bad, I end up picking up Doric and Xenk. Okay, so I have the full wave of those figures. Nice. So those are pretty cool. Let’s see here. Out on the road, I hit a dumpy little comic book shop that was kind of cool. They had a lot of cool stuff in it in Medicine Hat? Lethbridge. It was in Lethbridge. Okay. It’s kind of place where all the crackheads go to sell off their collections.
Ryan (00:26:49 - 00:26:50): Ah, yep.
Ed (00:26:50 - 00:27:00): But they also have a bunch of cool stuff in there too. I end up picking a Masters Universe— Masters of the WWE Universe. Yes, Ultimate Warrior.
Ryan (00:27:01 - 00:27:01): Yes.
Ed (00:27:01 - 00:27:35): Um, the guy had $20 on it and he said just pay me $15. Nice. And I’m like, oh, cash? And he’s like, no, debit. So I’m like, no tax, and just paid $15. But I’m like, yeah, that’s a That’s a cool figure to pick up. So I grabbed him. Um, let’s see here. Well, I guess let’s continue on with the Masters. Big Bad Toy Store did pre-orders and finally received the Cartoon Collection Queen Marlena.
Ryan (00:27:36 - 00:27:36): Oh, okay.
Ed (00:27:39 - 00:27:42): The quality is really starting to drop on those.
Ryan (00:27:42 - 00:27:42): Oh, really?
Ed (00:27:43 - 00:28:03): She— remember the last episode when I said about how bad Evil-Lyn was on the paint application? There’s no paint application on Queen Marlena. She’s all green, but just the plastic quality is just dipping. And I’m like, she was such a— like, I was excited to get her, and I take her out of the package, like, yeah, you, you feel icky.
Ryan (00:28:03 - 00:28:07): Yeah, it’s one of those— is it not even green paint? It’s just green plastic.
Ed (00:28:07 - 00:28:07): Yeah.
Ryan (00:28:07 - 00:28:07): Yeah.
Ed (00:28:08 - 00:28:36): I also got the Zodak from the 2000 series cartoon collection, and he’s awesome. And I’m like, how come you’re part of this characters? Or, or like, whatever, like production sucked on one, but like, Zodak was awesome. Like, it’s like, I’ve always been partial to Zodak because Zodak was the first He-Man figure I ever had. But even then, like, he looked like a bad guy. But this is like Zodak because I love the helmet design.
Ryan (00:28:36 - 00:28:37): Like, yeah.
Ed (00:28:37 - 00:29:23): Zodak’s helmet’s awesome. And this is like, oh, it’s Zodak, but like he doesn’t have the claw feet, he has like regular boots, and he comes with this like cosmic staff. And it was like, no, he’s a great figure, I like him. Um, also got the 2000 series Prince Adam, same thing, great figure. So it was like, why did Queen Marlena be such— unless it’s just the quality of green plastic, maybe you can’t get the formulation right, or Like, it just— yeah. But anyways, um, also, let’s see, Masters Universe. Um, when I’m going through, like, in the States, like, all— well, as you said, the amount of stuff I found on clearance. Like, I found the Holy Grail at one store where it was like all this new stuff, not because it was on clearance, because they’re doing renovations.
Ryan (00:29:23 - 00:29:23): Yeah.
Ed (00:29:24 - 00:29:28): So like, as Walmart, as they upgrade stores, let’s just blow everything out.
Ryan (00:29:28 - 00:29:29): Yeah, let’s make space.
Ed (00:29:29 - 00:29:52): Picked up, um, oh, uh, hold on, before I— sorry, I had a couple more pre-orders, but also I got lucky doing the clearance thing. So I, um, on pre-orders I got the ThunderCats crossover version 2 of Panthro. Okay. And then version 2 of Lion-O.
Ryan (00:29:53 - 00:29:53): Okay.
Ed (00:29:53 - 00:29:59): So that was also on pre-order. And then on the clearance stuff, I found a Cartoon Collection Grizzlor.
Ryan (00:30:00 - 00:30:00): Nice.
Ed (00:30:01 - 00:30:21): So I have the first version of Grizzlor, which was more— he was the original style, where’s all that fluffy furry. This one is like plastic and looks like the cartoon. Um, I picked up also on the pre-order was Panther Man as far as the ThunderCats line.
Ryan (00:30:22 - 00:30:29): Oh, that’s, uh, that’s, um, yeah, so it’s Panthor done up as humanoid. Yeah, yeah, that’s Skeletor’s cat.
Ed (00:30:29 - 00:30:45): Yeah, but when you read it, it’s like one of the few ThunderCats who actually goes to the evil side, so he’s a bad ThunderCat instead of a good ThunderCat. Um, clearance, I found Skel-Ra. Okay, so it’s a crossover between Mum-Ra and Skeletor.
Ryan (00:30:45 - 00:30:45): Yep.
Ed (00:30:46 - 00:31:24): So I think with him I might do him like full full Mum-Ra. Yeah, because that’s a cool thing with the ThunderCats line, because it gives you pieces to kind of make it look like a classic ThunderCats figure or an updated— yeah, so I might do the crossover. Yeah, I’m like, eh, I got enough Skeletor, I don’t need another Skeletor. I’ll do a full— and then I’m surprised I didn’t have it, have it, but it was a Masterverse Vintage Collection Skeletor. So it’s a Masterverse version of the original release of Skeletor. Okay, so it’s kind of like that 40th anniversary figure of He-Man.
Ryan (00:31:24 - 00:31:25): Okay, that’s good.
Ed (00:31:25 - 00:31:33): So instead of calling him like 40th anniversary, now it’s just— yeah, you know, they call Vintage Collection because there’s no discernible anniversary right now.
Ryan (00:31:33 - 00:31:33): Yeah.
Ed (00:31:34 - 00:31:52): Oh, let’s see here. Uh, also picked up, uh, that’s it for Uh, that is it for Masters. Okay, let’s get into some other pre-orders. The McFarlane Elite Spawn first action figure.
Ryan (00:31:52 - 00:31:55): Oh nice, unbelievable!
Ed (00:31:56 - 00:32:09): Love him so much. I haven’t taken him out of the package yet. Packaging is awesome on it because it’s like the deluxe white deluxe comic book. Yeah, the figure just looks awesome. The very first Spawn figure I ever bought was the very first Spawn figure that came out.
Ryan (00:32:09 - 00:32:09): Yep.
Ed (00:32:10 - 00:32:37): And it looks just like that. Nice. Like big cape and multiple heads, and it’s like, yep, that, that could be the final Spawn figure ever buy. It’d be like, no, I’m good. I don’t think they’ll make another Spawn figure as good as what that one looks. Um, all right, more clearance. I picked up the Marvel Legends Studio Series Captain America. Okay, picked him up at Walmart. He was only $8.
Ryan (00:32:37 - 00:32:38): Nice.
Ed (00:32:39 - 00:32:56): It’s a really good head sculpt of Chris Evans, so yeah, like probably the last Cap I buy unless they have a really cool one coming for Doomsday. Actually hit Ollie’s and found the Marvel Legends Love and Thunder Valkyrie, which I never owned.
Ryan (00:32:57 - 00:32:57): Nice.
Ed (00:32:57 - 00:32:58): She was $4.
Ryan (00:32:59 - 00:33:00): Can’t argue with that.
Ed (00:33:00 - 00:33:11): The Black Series credit collection Moff Gideon. Okay, weird is all the photos and all the pictures he has, like, the— his, you know, it’s his mustache.
Ryan (00:33:11 - 00:33:11): Yep.
Ed (00:33:11 - 00:33:18): And the figure doesn’t have the mustache. So I’m like, why would you? And I’m thinking, did he never not have the mustache in it?
Ryan (00:33:20 - 00:33:21): Yeah, I don’t know.
Ed (00:33:21 - 00:33:39): So anyways, I need a Moff Gideon for my, my Mando shelf. Yep. Uh, another one on clearance Like $2. The Sega, like the little 4-inch Sega figures. I picked up the Gilius Thunderhead like months ago.
Ryan (00:33:39 - 00:33:39): Yep.
Ed (00:33:40 - 00:33:43): Uh, Sega’s Altered Beast, the werewolf.
Ryan (00:33:43 - 00:33:46): Oh, nice. Okay. Yeah. You mentioned wanting to find that.
Ed (00:33:46 - 00:34:17): Yeah. Like I’m like, oh, I like Altered Beast. It’s not one of my favorite games of all time. It’s not, it’s not a, it’s not a Golden Axe, but I’m like, yeah, it works good. And he can stand on top of my Genesis with Gilius and because I have like all my Sonic stuff there, and so he’s kind of going on that vintage video game shelf. Um, okay, let’s get into the heavy hitter stuff. Um, I was at, oh, uh, Heroes down in London, London, Ontario.
Ryan (00:34:17 - 00:34:17): Yep.
Ed (00:34:18 - 00:34:36): And they had the black and white edition of Vincent Price Okay, I have the color version. Yeah, the black and white. So the color has a lot more of the heads are the older Vincent Price. The black and white, same body sculpt, but it’s the younger versions of them.
Ryan (00:34:36 - 00:34:41): Okay, that makes sense because it would have been in the black and white movies versus the color movies.
Ed (00:34:41 - 00:35:44): Yes. So it was like, well, I already had— like, I love Vincent Price. Like, if you love horror movies, you know who Vincent Price is, and he you know, a fantastic actor, and probably more people remember him from 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo than any of his movies ever did. But, you know, hey. All right, let’s get into the stuff that cost me a lot of money. WWE Mattel Creations that I posted on their Instagram, uh, I think we got a lot— not like, oh, viral. A lot of people like, holy crap, it’s out! Jesse the Body Ventura, the multiple heads, comes with 3 different heads of 3 different mustache styles that Jesse’s had over the years. He’s, uh, he comes with his boonie hat that like kind of the hat he wore in Predator.
Ryan (00:35:45 - 00:35:45): Yep.
Ed (00:35:45 - 00:36:28): Which he also wore at like Survivor Series ‘88, um, because he— like that Survivor Series ‘88, he was kind of dressed like he was as Blaine, like so the tiger, tiger camouflage. And but also comes with bandana, says Jesse on it, comes with headset, comes with microphone. The packaging is awesome on it. The, the outside box is a It looks like Foot Locker. Okay, pardon me. So it has like spray paint on it where like it has Jesse the Body Ventura, it’s a Saturday Night Main Event. And then when you take the box out, he’s in a windowless package where it looks like the Saturday Night Main Event stage with all the, the red and red and blue neon.
Ryan (00:36:29 - 00:36:29): Nice.
Ed (00:36:30 - 00:37:03): Great figure. It’s really cool, especially if you are a WWE fan of the ’80s. Like, it was like I’m trying to just focus on my WWE collection on like iconic people like Hulk Hogan and Roddy Piper, but Jesse was like, oh yeah, yeah, for sure. Maybe I, you know, I get tired of them, I’ll take them down and put them with Dutch down on my Predator collection. Um, I found the pre-order. It was for the SummerSlam series of Elite.
Ryan (00:37:03 - 00:37:04): Okay.
Ed (00:37:05 - 00:37:09): And I thought he was an old figure. It turns out it was just released. Jake the Snake.
Ryan (00:37:09 - 00:37:10): Ah, okay.
Ed (00:37:10 - 00:37:11): And he comes with Damien.
Ryan (00:37:12 - 00:37:12): Oh, nice.
Ed (00:37:13 - 00:37:19): And it’s one of my favorite outfits that he wore, where it was the black pants and the snakeskin boots.
Ryan (00:37:19 - 00:37:19): Yep.
Ed (00:37:20 - 00:37:32): So that was my— that was my favorite look. And you know, a lot of people say a lot of things about Jake. I still love Jake. He um, took care of my kids so well.
Ryan (00:37:32 - 00:37:33): Yep, he was a class act.
Ed (00:37:33 - 00:37:46): It was a great event with my kids when they met him, and they still talk well about Jake. So to me, Jake will always be one of the nicest wrestlers I ever met in my life because he did stuff for my kids he never had to.
Ryan (00:37:46 - 00:37:47): Nope.
Ed (00:37:47 - 00:38:32): Um, also the Ultimate Edition Cody Rhodes— it’s the outfit he wore at Bad Blood that was in Atlanta. And he comes with the skull helmet and the title belt. Okay, so it’s the skull helmet that he wore. It’s the same skull helmet that is in the Brandi Cody 2-pack. That was the Mattel Creations, um, so it comes with that one. Okay, so I put him on the shelf with that. He also has the, the long coat that’s a vest and put the title belt on him, and he stand on the shelf, wowing, and Again, it’s Cody. Um, I put down like, hey, I don’t have a Cody Rhodes problem, you have a lack of Cody Rhodes problem.
Ryan (00:38:33 - 00:38:33): There you go.
Ed (00:38:34 - 00:38:50): Um, also speaking about Cody, um, I picked up an AEW figure and it was Cody Rhodes. It was from the initial press conference where he’s wearing the trench coat.
Ryan (00:38:51 - 00:38:51): Okay. Yep.
Ed (00:38:51 - 00:38:57): And he’s got the microphone. So I picked him up on Amazon. It was like, hey, it was cheap.
Ryan (00:38:57 - 00:38:58): Yeah.
Ed (00:38:59 - 00:39:06): I was at Target, turned down an aisle, and all of a sudden one of the LJN series, one of the LJN 26s of Stone Cold Steve Austin.
Ryan (00:39:07 - 00:39:07): Oh, nice.
Ed (00:39:07 - 00:39:11): So that one was like, hey, these things are tough to find.
Ryan (00:39:11 - 00:39:12): Yep. You don’t find them up here.
Ed (00:39:13 - 00:39:57): No. So I grabbed them. They’re like Target exclusives. And I was like, as soon as I saw them, I’m like, I grabbed them. I pinned him up on the wall with Hulk Hogan and he looks awesome. And then, you know, with everything going on with wrestling right now, because it’s leading up to Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton at WrestleMania, I realized I never owned a Randy Orton figure and I found an Elite Series. Okay. Then I also found the Main Event Series. It’s like, huh, 27 versus 11. So I bought a Main Event Series Randy Orton and— but it’s this classic blue. So it was when he came back and he had the, the one match where he had the blue trunks that said Orton with the lightning bolts on them.
Ryan (00:39:57 - 00:39:57): Okay.
Ed (00:39:58 - 00:40:40): That’s throwback to his first outfit when he broke in. Okay. So I put him on. He was pretty good. I found this other place in West Virginia, this retro store. I found some stuff I’ve never seen before. Like, I sent you the picture and you’re like, what the hell is that? It was a Jax Pacific 1998 Sergeant Slaughter. So check out her Instagram. I have detailed pictures because he has paperwork in his hand and I just love the fact that they actually wrote a disclaimer on the paperwork. So if you read the paperwork, it has the rules of this is not a toy or this is a toy and keep out of reach of children. But they wrote it as a contract.
Ryan (00:40:40 - 00:40:41): Nice.
Ed (00:40:41 - 00:40:51): I love it. You know, Sarge has got his, you know, you know, the way Sarge is, and he’s got his finger pointing, and it’s like, well, he’s in the—
Ryan (00:40:51 - 00:40:53): that’s when he’s like working backstage.
Ed (00:40:53 - 00:41:00): Yep, that was when it was Commissioner Slaughter. And then I found my first ever Hasbro Hulk Hogan figure.
Ryan (00:41:01 - 00:41:01): Okay.
Ed (00:41:01 - 00:41:06): And it was, uh, it was 1990, 1990 version.
Ryan (00:41:06 - 00:41:06): Okay.
Ed (00:41:07 - 00:41:25): So I don’t, I don’t know which wave it was. Yeah, it’s the Hulk Rules one, so I don’t know if that was wave 1 or wave 3, but I got him, so he’s on my Hulk Hogan shelf. And then I found an Elite Series Ultimate Warrior from 1990 Royal Rumble.
Ryan (00:41:25 - 00:41:26): Oh, nice.
Ed (00:41:26 - 00:41:32): Okay, so 1990 Royal Rumble is the match where he lost to Sergeant Slaughter.
Ryan (00:41:33 - 00:41:36): So Sarge took the belt off of him, but he comes with the belt in this pack.
Ed (00:41:36 - 00:41:36): Yes.
Ryan (00:41:36 - 00:41:36): Nice.
Ed (00:41:37 - 00:41:53): So Sarge beats him and then faces Hogan at WrestleMania. No, that was— sorry, that was ‘91. Sorry, 1990. Uh, that’s the Intercontinental Belt. Okay, sorry, he had the Intercontinental Belt. So this is the pay-per-view before WrestleMania in Toronto.
Ryan (00:41:53 - 00:41:54): Okay, yep, sorry.
Ed (00:41:55 - 00:41:57): Uh, ‘91 is when Hogan—
Ryan (00:41:57 - 00:41:58): or when was WrestleMania 7?
Ed (00:41:59 - 00:42:40): Yeah, okay, yeah, yeah, WrestleMania— or sorry, SummerSlam ‘91 is when he lost to Sergeant Slaughter. So sorry, this was, uh, yeah, this was 1990 Royal Rumble. And then to celebrate March 16th, which is Stone Cold Steve Austin Day— yes, I did the pre-order for the King of the Ring I Just Whooped Your Ass Edition. Uh, so yep, so it’s an Elite Series. Um, so now that I’ve been doing this, uh, there’s different tiers. So Elite Series has good articulation, Ultimate Series has way better articulation. So Elite Series is much better than Main Event Series.
Ryan (00:42:41 - 00:42:48): Yeah, Ultimate is kind of like the one— well, Ultimate is the one in the fancy white box, or you buy them online. Yeah, Elite is—
Ed (00:42:49 - 00:42:53): Elite is, uh, still has good articulation in the box. It’s still in a box.
Ryan (00:42:54 - 00:42:55): And then what’s the first one?
Ed (00:42:55 - 00:42:55): Main Event.
Ryan (00:42:55 - 00:42:57): Main Event. It’s a card box.
Ed (00:42:57 - 00:43:11): Yeah, yeah. So the 316 Austin comes with the throne, the crown, comes with a 316 t-shirt multiple hands. So basically I have him stand on the shelf as, you know, you got—
Ryan (00:43:11 - 00:43:15): he comes with the 316 shirt because he wouldn’t have had the 316 shirt yet.
Ed (00:43:15 - 00:43:20): No, no, but it comes with it because it’s the highest selling t-shirt of all time.
Ryan (00:43:20 - 00:43:21): Yep.
Ed (00:43:21 - 00:44:02): So yeah, it’s the— I have him pointing in his face as the— you got your, you got your John, you got your Psalms, you got your John’s 316. Well, Austin 316 says, I just whipped your ass. Um, all right, so when I was down in Vegas, a whole bunch of power pre-orders showed up. Uh, I ordered and I’m not too happy with it. I didn’t realize— I’m— when it showed up, I took it out of the package and I’m disappointed. Oh no, it’s the Platinum Series Zatanna with Dr.— with Professor— or with Detective Chimp. Yep. It’s a good sculpt. The problem is the original version, she came with boots.
Ryan (00:44:03 - 00:44:03): Okay.
Ed (00:44:03 - 00:44:07): And they use the same sculpt, so it looks like she has saggy ankles.
Ryan (00:44:07 - 00:44:09): Oh, so they didn’t paint the boots?
Ed (00:44:09 - 00:44:21): And they didn’t paint the boots, like the boots aren’t painted on. And she originally came with like fishnet with the boots, and now like they’re making it like, like, like whatever.
Ryan (00:44:21 - 00:44:23): Like which— so which paint job, which one did you get?
Ed (00:44:23 - 00:44:23): The blue.
Ryan (00:44:24 - 00:44:25): The blue one. Yeah.
Ed (00:44:25 - 00:45:15): So the yellow, the yellow and black is the original, and she comes with the the higher boots on her. Okay, the blue, she comes with shoes, but the shoes look like grandma shoes. Yeah, and she has saggy, soggy, saggy ankles. So it’s like, uh, because I love Zatanna. Yeah, I love the design of that character. I own multiple Zatanas. It’s also a cosplay that always stops. Like, I, I love the look of Zatanna. They— the card that she comes with is that one Paul Dini, um, trade. I own that trade, like, it’s like I own several trades of her and I have that one and it was like, uh, so much potential. And it’s a very expensive figure because it’s Platinum Series and I don’t like it. No, but that’s what toy collecting is. And if you want a Detective Chimp, go over to my eBay page because I’m selling that monkey off.
Ryan (00:45:16 - 00:45:27): I heard one complaint about the Detective Chimp in those sets. In that, uh, his hand is— he’s got like a gripping hand with a hole, with an opening in it, but he doesn’t come with anything to put in it.
Ed (00:45:28 - 00:45:30): No, and he has no articulation either.
Ryan (00:45:30 - 00:45:40): Yeah, and it’s like— and the someone, uh, who I was talking to who bought one said that he could have sworn that he remembered seeing promo images. He feels like with him holding like a magnifying glass or something.
Ed (00:45:40 - 00:46:00): I should double-check the packaging, make sure there wasn’t one in his. So yeah, um, Also pre-orders, uh, G.I. Joe: Corpse Claw Guard, which you had already touched on. Um, you know, I do stupid things when I see something cool. I ordered my first Barbie ever.
Ryan (00:46:00 - 00:46:01): Oh, which one?
Ed (00:46:02 - 00:46:09): The Wonder Woman. Okay, I looked at it. The detail on it is fantastic.
Ryan (00:46:09 - 00:46:11): Is it like a Gal Gadot Wonder Woman Barbie or just—
Ed (00:46:11 - 00:46:42): oh, it looks regular Barbie. One woman based on— it’s as close to Lynda Carter as you can get. Okay, so it’s a Lynda Carter design, and like, Lynda Carter’s still the best Wonder Woman ever. Um, this one, if you bought it through Mattel, you had to pay for the subscription fee and all that kind of stuff. If you bought it through Big Bad, you paid a whole bunch of money. Mattel’s selling it through Amazon. I bought it cheaper on Amazon than you can on the Mattel store, and it shipped from Mattel.
Ryan (00:46:43 - 00:46:43): That’s funny.
Ed (00:46:43 - 00:46:47): It showed up here, the shipping address was from Mattel.
Ryan (00:46:48 - 00:46:50): So they’re just shooting themselves in the foot.
Ed (00:46:51 - 00:46:55): They just found another way to make it easier to buy their stuff. Yeah, I’m not complaining.
Ryan (00:46:55 - 00:46:59): No, for sure. Um, it just sucks if you were one of the people that paid all that extra money.
Ed (00:46:59 - 00:47:10): Yeah, because I had it in my— had in my list at Mattel and I was going to pull the trigger and then went over to Amazon and I was like, hmm. So Yeah, if you’re looking for one, go to Amazon.
Ryan (00:47:11 - 00:47:11): There you go.
Ed (00:47:11 - 00:47:23): Um, also while I was playing on the Mattel, the Monster High, which, hey, we’ve talked in the past, my girls grew up with Monster High, so I’m a Monster High dad.
Ryan (00:47:23 - 00:47:24): Had them around the house.
Ed (00:47:25 - 00:47:30): The Monster High Skeletor Masters of the Universe crossover.
Ryan (00:47:31 - 00:47:32): Oh, okay, I saw some pictures of that.
Ed (00:47:32 - 00:47:40): Skeletor Monster High. The packaging is top-notch. The figure is—
Ryan (00:47:40 - 00:47:44): because they announced a He-Man too, didn’t they? I didn’t see it in a Teela, I think.
Ed (00:47:45 - 00:47:47): No, no, no, that’s, that’s Barbie.
Ryan (00:47:48 - 00:47:48): Oh, it’s a Barbie one.
Ed (00:47:48 - 00:48:01): Sorry, I remember there’s a He-Man, He-Man and Teela movie version coming out from Barbie, so it’s Ken and Barbie done up as He-Man and Teela. This is the Monster High, so it’s Skeletor.
Ryan (00:48:01 - 00:48:02): Okay.
Ed (00:48:02 - 00:48:16): Uh, the everything on the doll is amazing. The her shoes, the heel, like the it’s a chunk heel on the back, it is Snake Mountain.
Ryan (00:48:17 - 00:48:18): That’s cool.
Ed (00:48:19 - 00:48:55): There’s the details on this thing. Uh, so again, I when I was at Toronto Comic-Con and I was at the KM Cosplay Cards booth, um Shadow Siren, who’s cosplayer, she’s a huge Monster High. So we were talking and we were going through this, and like, we were going through images, and it was like, oh, like, the Havoc Staff looks awesome. The color design on, on her is awesome. The packaging is awesome on her. Like, there’s just so much where it was like, yeah, but essentially I’m buying it, and when I’m dead and gone, the girls are going to get it anyways.
Ryan (00:48:55 - 00:48:56): So yeah.
Ed (00:48:57 - 00:49:08): Um, getting down to the bottom here, I picked up, um, uh, so my friend Chantelle, uh, was selling off the Diamond Select Catwoman statue.
Ryan (00:49:09 - 00:49:09): Okay.
Ed (00:49:09 - 00:49:21): Uh, she was donating all the funds to Megan’s Hug in memory of our friend Stephen who passed away on my birthday. Um, so I— it’s something I always wanted.
Ryan (00:49:22 - 00:49:22): Yep.
Ed (00:49:22 - 00:50:20): And she was putting the money to a good cause. So I was like, Megan’s Hug is a charity that we have helped in the past where we’ve done a superhero walk to help raise awareness and raise money towards Megan’s Hug, which is in support of sick kids. So, um, it’s a good cause and, uh, you know, putting it in Steven’s name is good because Steven was a hell of a guy and, uh, you know, sadly passed away due to illness back, uh, in December. All right, uh, two more items here. One I never saw, it’s probably going to be in your news, but it’s already in my hand. Never saw it once on Pulse, but saw it on the shelf at Target. G.I. Joe Classified Special Forces Soldier.
Ryan (00:50:20 - 00:50:20): Yep.
Ed (00:50:22 - 00:50:26): Never knew it was coming, never heard of it once. Damn, it’s an awesome looking figure.
Ryan (00:50:27 - 00:50:33): I feel— well, we’ve talked about it because they announced it, I think, at Toy Fair, but that’s as far as it’s gone.
Ed (00:50:33 - 00:50:59): But it’s not— we didn’t have digital renders or anything like that. Like, like, he comes with like face paint of like Ghost from— yeah, like comes with, comes with a helmet, comes with a beret, comes with glasses, comes with dog tags, like heads. Like, oh, if he shows up in Ollie’s, I’m buying a hell of a lot more because like I think there’s more customization for him. Yeah, then the first release of Action Soldier.
Ryan (00:51:00 - 00:51:12): So it’s funny with this one, I think it’s available right now on amazon.ca for pre-order. Okay, um, it hasn’t shown up on EB Canada, and, uh, and they haven’t talked about it at all.
Ed (00:51:13 - 00:51:36): And it’s on Big Bad for pre-order. Yeah, I don’t even know what I paid for it because I, I just saw it and bought it. I bought it and I was buying some other things at Target, so like it came to like $60 US. Yeah, uh, so I don’t, I do, I don’t know what its price was. Um, Big Bad has it for like $47 US. So like, it’s an expensive figure.
Ryan (00:51:36 - 00:51:40): It’s one of those deluxe ones, but he comes like all the accessories.
Ed (00:51:40 - 00:51:42): And, um, yeah, no, it’s just—
Ryan (00:51:42 - 00:52:02): I feel like it’s, it’s— it falls under the same as the police officer, where I guess they just decided maybe because of what’s going on in the world right now that it’s not a good time to be promoting and doing a big hullabaloo for a special— for American Special Forces figure. So they just do a shadow drop and it’s like, okay, it’s available.
Ed (00:52:03 - 00:52:14): Yeah, well, pick it up. It’s cool. It is a really cool figure. And as I said, like, I would put it in the, in the rest of the Legacy series as the best.
Ryan (00:52:14 - 00:52:14): Nice.
Ed (00:52:14 - 00:52:40): The best of the Legacy series. It is a really cool figure. And then, um, as I was saying, being in Vegas and I stopped at Target one day to pick up some stuff that we needed for the, uh, for for the meeting. And of course, one of my coworkers— I’m like, look, y’all gamble, my addiction’s action figures, and my gambling is going to the shelf to see if I’m gonna find shit I’m gonna want.
Ryan (00:52:40 - 00:52:41): Yep.
Ed (00:52:42 - 00:52:57): And I went over, and it’s still the tail end of Holathon, and I walk over and it was staring at me, and I went, ah, oh, finally! The ultimate edition of Pee-wee Herman and Friends.
Ryan (00:52:57 - 00:52:57): Nice.
Ed (00:52:58 - 00:53:00): So we already have Pee-wee Herman.
Ryan (00:53:00 - 00:53:00): Yep.
Ed (00:53:01 - 00:53:19): But this is Pee-wee Herman, same figure body, comes with 4 heads. So it has the head where his, his head’s all taped up, and like where he’s taped— he tapes his face all up, um, you know, a whole bunch of different Pee-wee-isms with his facial expressions.
Ryan (00:53:19 - 00:53:19): Okay.
Ed (00:53:19 - 00:53:23): It also comes with Globey. It also comes with Randy and comes with another Terry.
Ryan (00:53:24 - 00:53:24): Nice.
Ed (00:53:25 - 00:53:33): It also comes with multiple words of the day, but also comes with the bindle that he’s carrying in Pee-wee’s Big Adventure.
Ryan (00:53:33 - 00:53:33): Okay.
Ed (00:53:34 - 00:53:36): So I love Pee-wee Herman.
Ryan (00:53:36 - 00:53:37): Yes, you do.
Ed (00:53:37 - 00:54:02): And it’s like, nope, I needed this one. Um, and I was really surprised to see it at a Target because, as I said, I wasn’t wanting to buy anything. And it really sucks when you have to try to figure out to get stuff you didn’t need, yeah, into your luggage to get home. But that’s it. That’s 3 pages of 6 figures.
Ryan (00:54:02 - 00:54:07): Yeah. What was it? Was it January or February where you tried to go without buying anything?
Ed (00:54:08 - 00:54:10): I did. I tried. No, no, by February, right?
Ryan (00:54:10 - 00:54:10): Wasn’t it?
Ed (00:54:10 - 00:54:11): No, it was No Buy January.
Ryan (00:54:11 - 00:54:12): No Buy January.
Ed (00:54:12 - 00:54:13): That didn’t work.
Ryan (00:54:13 - 00:54:13): No.
Ed (00:54:14 - 00:54:17): And then March became let’s go into massive debt march.
Ryan (00:54:17 - 00:54:18): Take my money march.
Ed (00:54:18 - 00:54:20): It’s a good, good thing I did my taxes.
Toy News: McFarlane, G.I. Joe, NECA, Masters, and More
Ryan (00:54:20 - 00:54:31): Yep. Okay, so let me get the news here. Oh geez, it’s so small. I gotta— I had to send myself a PDF file.
Ed (00:54:31 - 00:54:35): Jeez, almost we should have took a commercial break for you to read the news.
Ryan (00:54:36 - 00:54:47): Should have. I need a stand to hold my mic so I can read this better. Okay, so McFarlane, we got some new toys coming our way. We got a new Black Canary.
Ed (00:54:48 - 00:54:55): Yes, um, that’s sort of the blue and black version. Yep, uh, have her on pre-order because I’d love me some Black Canary.
Ryan (00:54:55 - 00:54:58): Uh, there’s a new Freddie Friedman, uh, you know, Shazam Jr.
Ed (00:54:59 - 00:54:59): Yes.
Ryan (00:55:00 - 00:55:07): Yep, uh, a new Vigilante, the ‘89 movie comic version of the Joker.
Ed (00:55:07 - 00:55:16): Well, yes, they’re calling it the comic version. Yes, but there’s a lot of places you look and then a lot of people are calling it the Nicholson version as well.
Ryan (00:55:16 - 00:55:26): They are, but it does— but his face doesn’t look like him. It looks like the comic book version of him because Nicholson, you know, his likeness rights are just too expensive.
Ed (00:55:26 - 00:55:35): Yeah, which they’re also— or do you have on there they’re coming out with the Ultimate version of him too? So there’s two versions of him coming out.
Ryan (00:55:35 - 00:55:35): No, I didn’t.
Ed (00:55:35 - 00:55:38): So there’s the deluxe— there’s the Platinum Series coming out.
Ryan (00:55:38 - 00:55:38): Yep.
Ed (00:55:38 - 00:55:42): So the first is going to be the 1989 movie colors.
Ryan (00:55:42 - 00:55:43): Yep.
Ed (00:55:43 - 00:55:51): And then they’re coming out with the Platinum Series, which is using the colors of the second release of Joker in the ‘89 Kenner series.
Ryan (00:55:51 - 00:55:52): Oh, okay.
Ed (00:55:52 - 00:56:36): So there’s a sort of a more orangey look. Yep. Which I saw somebody on some toy group post a picture of Arthur Fleck. So Joaquin’s Joker beside that one, because like Joaquin’s Joker is sort of like similar color design of, of that one. Yeah, because when the Batman stuff came out from Kenner back in ‘89, the first one was purple, and then it was one of the later versions, it was like the helicopter version, he had this orange color, and that’s what the deluxe, but I got— I was able to get a pre-order for the purple. Nice, because he sold out quick. Like, these ones are disappearing like immediately.
Ryan (00:56:36 - 00:56:44): Yeah, there’s a new Lobo coming, so based on like volume 1 look, like so his original comic book looking.
Ed (00:56:44 - 00:56:44): Yep.
Ryan (00:56:46 - 00:56:47): And then a first appearance Supergirl.
Ed (00:56:49 - 00:56:51): Yes, I didn’t like that one though.
Ryan (00:56:51 - 00:56:51): Yeah.
Ed (00:56:51 - 00:56:54): I liked the Woman of Tomorrow version.
Ryan (00:56:54 - 00:57:03): Oh yeah, that’s a good one. Yeah, I actually just finished reading that graphic novel yesterday. It was— it was when, uh, for the last few weeks it was my Saturday lunchtime reading at the store.
Ed (00:57:03 - 00:57:03): Gotcha.
Ryan (00:57:03 - 00:57:04): I’d read an issue of it.
Ed (00:57:04 - 00:57:06): You just grabbed off the shelf?
Ryan (00:57:06 - 00:57:06): Yep.
Ed (00:57:06 - 00:57:11): Yeah, they’re making money. You’re allowed to, I guess. The perks of working there.
Ryan (00:57:11 - 00:57:18): Yeah, you gotta know the product. Uh, oh, so this one we were both looking forward to, uh, the Brendan Routh Superman.
Ed (00:57:18 - 00:57:24): Yes, uh, pre-orders for that go April 9th. Yeah, yeah, I need that one.
Ryan (00:57:24 - 00:57:33): Yep, same. Uh, there’s a new 2-pack of Mongul and black suit mullet Superman. That’s a total ’90s Return of Superman.
Ed (00:57:34 - 00:57:38): Uh-huh. Yeah, I don’t want Mongul, but I want that black suit Superman. Yeah, you want a Mongul?
Ryan (00:57:39 - 00:57:42): Nope, I’ve already got a couple. I don’t need Mongul.
Ed (00:57:42 - 00:57:47): Um, do you have on there the other one that they announced? Uh Another movie Superman?
Ryan (00:57:48 - 00:57:51): Uh, well, you go ahead and tell me and I’ll tell you.
Ed (00:57:51 - 00:57:53): Henry Cavill, laser eyes.
Ryan (00:57:54 - 00:57:55): Uh, nope, I didn’t put that.
Ed (00:57:55 - 00:57:58): It was announced— so Brendan Roth was announced earlier.
Ryan (00:57:59 - 00:57:59): Yep.
Ed (00:57:59 - 00:58:14): When they announced the, the Christopher Reeve Ultimate Edition, which they yesterday they showed like, okay, this is when the pre-order is dropping. They also at the same time they also announced Heat Vision Henry Cavill.
Ryan (00:58:14 - 00:58:16): Okay, I didn’t see that one.
Ed (00:58:16 - 00:58:27): Basically same figures before, just with different face paint. I might pass on that one. It might be the only Henry Cavill I pass on because it’s like, uh, I don’t need them.
Ryan (00:58:28 - 00:58:28): You don’t need angry face.
Ed (00:58:29 - 00:58:30): No, I need Brandon Routh.
Ryan (00:58:30 - 00:58:56): Yeah. Uh, so then another wave has Teen Titans Robin, OMAC, Starman, so like, uh, ’90s Starman. Yeah, the jacket. And, uh, Bronze Tiger, Gangbuster, uh, Orange Lantern Larfleeze, Deadman Batman, and, uh, The Dark Knight Batman Remastered.
Ed (00:58:57 - 00:59:01): Hmm. Yeah, they’re doing a lot of fan service right now.
Ryan (00:59:01 - 00:59:04): Oh yeah, well, a lot of fan service and a lot of reuse.
Ed (00:59:05 - 00:59:05): Yeah, right.
Ryan (00:59:05 - 00:59:08): Then, you know, make use of the molds you got while you can, right?
Ed (00:59:08 - 00:59:11): Yeah, end of the line. It’s like, oh, let’s give you the people that you never wanted.
Ryan (00:59:11 - 00:59:15): Yeah, like 1990s Justice League Batman.
Ed (00:59:17 - 00:59:21): Batman from— no, I probably— I might get that one.
Ryan (00:59:21 - 00:59:24): Yeah, but I mean, it’s probably— I’m sure it’s an easy reuse.
Ed (00:59:24 - 00:59:25): It looks good.
Ryan (00:59:25 - 00:59:30): Uh, there’s Batman from Batman of Bethlehem, Batman from Batman: Hush 2.
Ed (00:59:31 - 00:59:36): Which apparently these are all like— it’s from what I’ve seen online, they’re already hitting.
Ryan (00:59:37 - 00:59:53): Yeah, they announced and started Batman stuff. Batman from the Injustice gang, the red platinum one. White Lantern Batman from Brightest Day, that one’s also a red platinum edition.
Ed (00:59:53 - 00:59:54): Hmm.
Ryan (00:59:55 - 00:59:58): And so that’s what I’ve got from McFarlane.
Ed (00:59:58 - 01:00:02): Yeah, there’s nothing else I can think of from McFarland.
Ryan (01:00:02 - 01:00:03): Um, I know actually—
Ed (01:00:03 - 01:00:06): oh, McFarland DC or McFarland McFarland?
Ryan (01:00:06 - 01:00:07): That’s what I’ve got for everything.
Ed (01:00:07 - 01:00:09): Well, the pre-orders went live for Hellboy.
Ryan (01:00:10 - 01:00:12): That’s what I was going to say too. Yes, I got my pre-order in.
Ed (01:00:13 - 01:00:22): I didn’t, so I had to go another route. I ordered direct from McFarland. Okay, gonna be a little bit more money, but it’s the only place I can get them.
Ryan (01:00:23 - 01:00:30): Um, You could have tried in-store at EB, like, or over the phone, because they were— Brent was still able to pre-order it on Friday, I think. Yeah.
Ed (01:00:30 - 01:00:33): So if I can’t get online, it’s not worth my time.
Ryan (01:00:33 - 01:00:33): Okay.
Ed (01:00:33 - 01:00:42): So, yep, I’m not gonna— I’m not gonna chase around something that easy. I got to be able to order online because I haven’t got a lot of time to be going around and get it, chasing stuff.
Ryan (01:00:43 - 01:00:58): So, um, that’s what I got for my friend. G.I. Joe, we just the other day got some announcements. We are getting a retro card back Uh, well, this one we’ve got a little bit before, uh, retro card back 250th anniversary of America Duke.
Ed (01:00:58 - 01:01:01): Got him on pre-order. That one’s a Walmart exclusive.
Ryan (01:01:01 - 01:01:04): Yep. And we got some digital renders this week.
Ed (01:01:04 - 01:01:13): We got— oh, and then we also got the pre-orders opened up for the Dire Nightcreeper. Yes, because I got them on order because they were part of Walmart’s CollectorCon.
Ryan (01:01:13 - 01:01:19): Yeah. Uh, digital render reveals, we got retro-carded Wild Bill coming.
Ed (01:01:20 - 01:01:39): Yep. Retro-carded Techno Viper and retro-carded Grunt, which Grunt will be good because the first Grunt sucked. Okay, the first Grunt is okay, not as good as what it could be. Um, the first Grunt should have actually came out more like Steeler or, um, Short Fuse.
Ryan (01:01:39 - 01:01:39): Okay.
Ed (01:01:40 - 01:01:47): Um, the retro-carded Wild Bill now you’ve got a Wild Bill that you can put in your Dragonfly.
Ryan (01:01:47 - 01:01:52): That’s right. That’s why I might even buy two, so I have one in my Dragonfly and one on the shelf with the rest of the crew.
Ed (01:01:52 - 01:02:03): Yep. Um, and it’s kind of neat because the retro card, he’s kind of coming out with the original kind of looking— it kind of looks more like the ‘83 Wild Bill, ‘84.
Ryan (01:02:03 - 01:02:10): Shorter gloves and stuff like that. So, uh, and then the last digital render we got is, uh, Iron Grenadier Destro in his Despoiler.
Ed (01:02:11 - 01:02:13): Oh, So happy with that.
Ryan (01:02:13 - 01:02:14): Yeah, that’s— that one looks great.
Ed (01:02:15 - 01:02:34): That’s been a wishlist item, um, you know, especially if we’ve been getting smaller vehicles. It’s like the spoiler works perfect. It’s a perfect small vehicle. And plus, Gold Head Destro with the big red cape, like, man, yep, give me that figure.
Ryan (01:02:34 - 01:02:36): Big broadsword too, and a shield.
Ed (01:02:36 - 01:02:44): Yep, I love Iron Grenader stuff. Yep, Grenadier. I don’t know, I’ve been calling it Grenader for, yeah, 35 years, so sorry, ain’t changing.
Ryan (01:02:45 - 01:02:52): Nope. Uh, NECA. Well, actually, before we leave G.I. Joe, there’s a G.I. Joe livestream on April 1st.
Ed (01:02:52 - 01:02:54): No joke, no joke, Joes.
Ryan (01:02:55 - 01:03:10): And also on April 1st, we’re supposed to be finding out what this new, uh, Hasbro EB collab thing or announcement is. So yeah, it’s like a bad day to make any kind of announcements, but yeah, that’s weird.
Ed (01:03:10 - 01:03:12): I don’t know what they’re gonna do with that.
Ryan (01:03:12 - 01:03:26): Part of me wonders if it’s just like an official announcement of, you know, in Canada EB Games, or in wherever EB Games are, maybe we’ll be getting like the stuff that would be— that Toys ‘R’ Us used to get for exclusives, considering how Toys ‘R’ Us isn’t—
Ed (01:03:26 - 01:03:29): well, Toys ‘R’ Us’s exclusives were just Target exclusives.
Ryan (01:03:29 - 01:03:30): Yeah.
Ed (01:03:30 - 01:03:36): So maybe, maybe all the Target exclusives now become Canadian exclusives at EB.
Ryan (01:03:37 - 01:03:58): Yeah, maybe that. I’ve had some people wonder if it’ll be bigger than that and be more of a, you can order HasLabs directly through EB instead of having to go through Hasbro. Um, I don’t know if it’ll be that big of an announcement. It could just be like anything that’s, you know, just a new route of exclusives or making more things available.
Ed (01:03:59 - 01:04:01): Could be, who knows.
Ryan (01:04:01 - 01:04:10): We’ll see, we’ll find out. Um, NECA. So yeah, I have here the Ultimate Pee-wee Herman and Pals. Uh, we’re going through the whole list, but you already did because you bought it already. Yeah, it’s part of—
Ed (01:04:10 - 01:04:12): I got my Pee-wee, I got my Pee-wee in my hand.
Ryan (01:04:12 - 01:04:19): There’s a new, uh, Jason coming from NECA from Jason Takes Manhattan. I put that on here because I was like, ooh, and like those.
Ed (01:04:19 - 01:04:19): Yep.
Ryan (01:04:20 - 01:04:33): Uh, and then as part of, uh, is it— I guess is it Holothon or Walmart’s. There’s the Bride of Frankenstein 90th anniversary, uh, has the Frankenstein’s monster and his bride and his mate.
Ed (01:04:33 - 01:04:45): That’s a Holothon at Target. Yeah, I did see it there. It’s just $90-something for 2 figures, and you’ve already got both of them. No, I don’t. I don’t have the bride.
Ryan (01:04:45 - 01:04:45): Okay.
Ed (01:04:46 - 01:05:09): And, um, I have been looking at the um, Bride of Frankenstein version of Frankenstein’s monster because it is a different version. Like, his face is burned and all that kind of stuff, and it’s like, don’t have a lot of space on the Universal shelf, so it’s not a no, it’s just a not now, not right now.
Ryan (01:05:10 - 01:05:18): Uh, He-Man Masters of the Universe Origins Sketchbook Series, many faces. Uh, that new gold Skeletor.
Ed (01:05:20 - 01:05:34): Now the gold Skeletor, because it looks like they’re releasing everything again, so like they’re not calling it Origins or Masterverse anymore, it’s like 3 tiers. So they’ve got like Chronicles. Yeah, Chronicles. And they have like the kids line.
Ryan (01:05:34 - 01:05:35): Yeah.
Ed (01:05:35 - 01:05:47): And I’m like, ah, it’s a good thing I moved some stuff in my office so I just freed up more Masters space, uh, from the Origins 2000X cartoon collection.
Ryan (01:05:47 - 01:06:08): They announced Samurai He-Man as a deluxe figure. There’s a Masterverse Beast Man from the Vintage Collection. Let’s call it— that’s like a 7-inch scale one, uh, the— from the MotU Chronicles, the Scare Glow. Yep, he’s supposed to be a 1:12 scale, so 6-inch scale. Yeah. And then, uh, MotU Origins Stondar.
Ed (01:06:09 - 01:06:12): Yeah, it’s kind of interesting we’re getting into the Rock Lords.
Ryan (01:06:13 - 01:06:13): Yeah.
Ed (01:06:13 - 01:06:17): Or was it Rock Lords with Stondar, or was Rock Lords Gobots?
Ryan (01:06:17 - 01:06:20): I don’t know, there’s so many. I think Gobots is Rock Lords.
Ed (01:06:22 - 01:06:23): It was all at the same time.
Ryan (01:06:23 - 01:06:26): Yeah, it was all of a sudden transform, all about transforming rocks.
Ed (01:06:27 - 01:06:31): Yeah, and it was like kind of the decline of all those series, toy lines. Yep.
Ryan (01:06:34 - 01:06:45): Uh, Ghostbusters were quiet, Transformers were quiet as far as what we get from them. Uh, really only one Marvel Legends announcement that I made of note, and there’s that— it’s a Professor Hulk, mm-hmm, big deluxe figure.
Ed (01:06:45 - 01:06:46): Saw him.
Ryan (01:06:47 - 01:06:53): Um, Star Wars Black Series figures, there’s the Darth Maul and Shadow Lord wave coming.
Ed (01:06:53 - 01:06:53): Yep.
Ryan (01:06:54 - 01:07:12): And so it’s got characters we’ve never heard of, Devon Azara 11th of the 11th Brother, Rookkast, and Maul. And then last but not least on my little list, uh, there’s a Big Rubber Guy announcement and, uh, they’re doing a Big Rubber Guy of Danhausen.
Ed (01:07:13 - 01:07:41): Hmm. Uh, which also, if you like big rubber things, um, those are all there. A lot of the pre-orders now are popping up on Big Bad. Nice, nice thing with that. If you order big rubber things from the, you know, Meyers and Cordona, you got to pay upfront. So when I ordered the Sergeant Slaughter’s, I had to pay upfront.
Ryan (01:07:41 - 01:07:41): Yep.
Ed (01:07:42 - 01:07:56): I could order the Sergeant Slaughter’s from Big Bad and pay when it shows up, when they ready. So I went over to Big Rubber Dudes and it was like, I want to cancel these. but you can’t. There is no cancellation.
Ryan (01:07:56 - 01:07:57): Oh, that’s interesting.
Ed (01:07:57 - 01:08:09): So you’re, yeah, there is no cancellation. There’s no exchange. There’s no refunds. Um, so then I’m like, eh, so I went back to Big Bad and went and checked Big Rubber Dudes and all the Sergeant Slaughter’s were sold out.
Ryan (01:08:09 - 01:08:11): So, so I’m like, crap.
Ed (01:08:12 - 01:08:32): But I know that Brent really wants a Juicing the Thunder Lager. So I’ll make a deal with Brent that when Juicing the Thunder Lager comes up, I’ll put it on my Big Bad account. So then he doesn’t have to worry about it, because I sure as heck ain’t going to give my money to the big rubber dudes up front. No, you know, they’re still going to get my money. I’m just going to funnel through another channel.
Ryan (01:08:32 - 01:08:33): No, might as well.
Ed (01:08:34 - 01:08:37): I just, I don’t like the idea of not being able to cancel something.
Ryan (01:08:38 - 01:08:46): Yeah, it’s interesting that there’s no way to cancel. You think there’s got to be some way. Yeah, maybe if you could actually reach out to them, like there’s got to be like an email or—
Ed (01:08:46 - 01:08:51): yeah. Oh well, I’m not that worried about it. No, if I was willing to pay for it, then I paid for it.
Ryan (01:08:51 - 01:08:52): Yep.
Ed (01:08:52 - 01:08:55): I’m funneling it through the office anyway, so I get free shipping.
Ryan (01:08:55 - 01:08:56): Nice. But that helps.
Ed (01:08:57 - 01:08:57): Yeah.
Ryan (01:08:58 - 01:08:59): Uh, that’s it for news.
Closing and Socials
Ed (01:08:59 - 01:09:06): That’s it for news. And we’ve recorded a very long time, or at least we’ve been talking a long time. I don’t know when you— oh crap, you haven’t even pressed record yet.
Ryan (01:09:07 - 01:09:13): No, the red light’s on. Um, no, I did cut this up into two. I’m not ignoring the red light.
Ed (01:09:13 - 01:09:15): No, put on the red light.
Ryan (01:09:15 - 01:09:18): Yep. Um, because we had to switch batteries out.
Ed (01:09:18 - 01:09:21): But don’t tell them how the sausage is made, just tell them to enjoy it.
Ryan (01:09:21 - 01:09:23): Just sit back, put it in.
Ed (01:09:23 - 01:09:26): Jeez, what the hell?
Ryan (01:09:26 - 01:09:27): The sausage.
Ed (01:09:27 - 01:09:28): Oh, okay.
Ryan (01:09:29 - 01:09:32): Um, yeah, I think we’re pushing up to about an hour.
Ed (01:09:32 - 01:09:38): We’re pushing something. Anyways, Ryan, if people ain’t find you here, where are people going to find you?
Ryan (01:09:38 - 01:09:41): Uh, find me here on this show.
Ed (01:09:41 - 01:09:44): And I said not here. Where are they going to find you besides here?
Ryan (01:09:44 - 01:09:56): Uh, Tales from the Collectiverse every other week. Um, that, and then on our Instagram, both, uh, Tales from the Collectiverse and, uh, True North Nerds. That’s the one that’s every other week. It’s not Tales from the Collectiverse.
Ed (01:09:56 - 01:10:00): No, Collectiverse is once a month. Yep. Now once a month.
Ryan (01:10:00 - 01:10:01): Yep, that’s the goal.
Ed (01:10:02 - 01:10:02): We’re more regular.
Ryan (01:10:03 - 01:10:05): Um, what are you up to? Where we can find you at?
Ed (01:10:05 - 01:11:03): Oh man, I’ve got so much on the go. Too much, uh, before I get into what I’m going, um, I guess we should remember to tell people go check out the Patreon. Yeah, I’m not going to go through the list of all the people because I don’t have the list, but go to True North Nerds, get to somewhere in the end of the episode, and if you’re a Patreon subscriber, you can hear your name mentioned there. And if you’re here listening, thank you for subscribing. Um, all right, so me, where you can find me— if you ain’t finding me here, you can find me online anywhere that says Snowhawk Cosplay. Um, I just did Toronto Comic-Con last weekend as we’re recording this, so got a bunch of cool pictures. Uh, sometime in April, uh, the April episode might end up being in May just because you’re gonna be on the road again. Uh, yeah, so the last weekend in April I’ll be flying back But I’m hoping to go to Calgary Expo.
Ryan (01:11:04 - 01:11:04): Nice.
Ed (01:11:04 - 01:11:19): So that’d be cool. Haven’t been there in 3 years. So we’ll probably record beginning of May and release, you know, that first May 4th or something like that. It’ll still be the April episode, then we’ll do a May episode.
Ryan (01:11:19 - 01:11:20): We’ll just double it up one month.
Ed (01:11:21 - 01:11:24): No, no, we gotta be regular. I said we’re gonna be regular.
Ryan (01:11:24 - 01:11:26): Well, as long as we get 12 out, we’re good.
Ed (01:11:26 - 01:12:22): If not, we’ll record maybe 2 2 weeks or something like that. Yeah. Um, and then, yeah, then we can do our mid-May episode. Anyways, whatever, regardless, uh, yeah, everywhere that says Snowhawk Cosplay, check that out. Um, other than that, I don’t have many other projects on the go. Work and life is busy, so I’m trying to do all that. And, uh, um, I don’t know if my kids listen to this, but yeah, Ryan’s moving back home, so we might be able to have Ryan as a guest host, uh, or a guest Speaker on because he’ll be housebound here and, uh, he started collecting stuff. Oh, he collects a lot of shit. He’s my kid. Of course he, of course he got bit by a collecting bug. They’re all over the house. Um, yeah. So yeah, it should be neat to have Ryan on as a guest at some point. Uh, same like I was talking to our pal Jack and I said to Jack, if he was ever in Barrie again, uh, swing out to the bunker and we can guest host with Jack.
Ryan (01:12:23 - 01:12:23): Yep.
Ed (01:12:23 - 01:12:43): He’s not collecting as much anymore. He’s got a new job since all the Toys R Us closed down in Montreal. But, uh, no, it’d be good to have Jack on and, um, catch up. Yeah. So, all right. Uh, let’s put an outro here from our pal Rex and go home because we’re done.
Ryan (01:12:44 - 01:12:44): Yep.
Ed (01:12:44 - 01:12:45): Or I’m, I’m home.
Ryan (01:12:46 - 01:12:47): I’m going to go home and watch baseball game. You go. Go.
