Show notes

Welcome to Tales from the Collectiverse, Season 6, Episode 4. Ed and Ryan keep the monthly streak alive with an April edition recorded during WrestleMania weekend, mixing toy talk, collecting updates, road-trip finds, store sightings, and a lot of action-figure opinions.

Six Figures This Month

Ryan shares pickups including the retro-carded G.I. Joe Classified Crimson Viper, Brandon Routh Superman, a glowing kryptonite prop display, the Dark Knight Joker, and Ghostbusters/Transformers crossover items. Ed follows with a much bigger haul covering Masters of the Universe, McFarlane DC, Marvel Legends, Big Bad Workshop COPS, Power Rangers, Transformers, and a long list of WWE figures.

Wrestling Weekend Energy

Because the episode was recorded during WrestleMania weekend, the conversation regularly swings back to wrestling. Ed talks through Chyna, Hulk Hogan, Cody Rhodes, Demolition, Roddy Piper, Jesse Ventura, King Kong Bundy, blind-box WWE Champs figures, title-belt collectibles, and why Cody Rhodes remains one of his favourites.

Toy News and New Releases

The news section covers Lenny leaving Hasbro, EB Games becoming a Hasbro Pulse partner, new McFarlane DC announcements, Supergirl movie figures, Super Friends releases, Mattel WWE reveals, NECA sketch variants, premium Masters of the Universe role-play items, Star Wars Black Series updates, Tron collectibles, and Batman ‘66 playset expansions.

Closing Notes

Ryan points listeners to the Tales from the Collectiverse Instagram feed, while Ed shares that he will be at Calgary Expo helping Canada Cosplay Cards and offers to cover the first ten cards for listeners who find him there.

Welcome and Setup

Rex (00:00:29 - 00:00:56): How does he get those wonderful toys? And now here are your hosts, Ryan and Ed. All right, welcome to— oh, I said it too loud. Welcome to Tales from the Collectiverse, Season 6, Episode 4. This is the April edition, and we’re keeping our streak going. I said we are going to do an episode a month, and we are going to make it happen. I’m Ed, and with me is, uh, Ryan.

Ryan (00:00:56 - 00:00:57): Hey Ed, how you doing?

Ed (00:00:57 - 00:00:59): Uh, Ryan, what you You couldn’t remember your name for a second?

Ryan (00:01:00 - 00:01:02): Yeah, I was playing with the dial.

Ed (00:01:02 - 00:01:03): Oh, you’re playing with your knob.

Ryan (00:01:04 - 00:01:06): Okay, I was adjusting your knob.

Ed (00:01:06 - 00:01:34): We— yeah, because I’m loud. I’m now excited. I’m excited to talk toys. I’m excited to talk to the Collectiverse universe, the Collectiverse-iverse, um, to the population of the Collectiverse. We also got— we are now professional. Well, we’ve, we’ve upgraded our recording Yeah, because now instead of us holding a microphone and being like all over the place like a kid with a drippy ice cream cone, we actually have mic stands now.

Ryan (00:01:34 - 00:01:36): Mic stands with the little covers on them too now.

Ed (00:01:36 - 00:01:44): Yeah, with the windbreaks so you can’t hear breathe or when I talk really loud into the mic, it’s not going to blow your ears out.

Ryan (00:01:45 - 00:01:49): I try to adjust that whenever when I edit, do air quotes, edit this.

Ed (00:01:49 - 00:02:22): Hey, we are trying to make it entertaining and fun for everybody. And sometimes that includes, uh, adding stuff. Okay, hold on. Sorry, we are also watching, um, this is, this is day 2 of WrestleMania, but we’re watching the recap of WrestleMania Night 1, and LA Knight just came to the ring with a Dodge Ram on the stage, or yeah, sorry, came to the top of the ramp with a Dodge Ram truck. Yeah, and it was all custom done with LA Knights colors.

Ryan (00:02:22 - 00:02:26): And then he climbed out the sky, the sunroof, man.

Ed (00:02:26 - 00:02:29): Such an entrance. It would be nice if he actually won something.

Ryan (00:02:29 - 00:02:32): But anyways, God forbid they do something with him.

Six Figures This Month: Ryan’s Pickups

Ed (00:02:32 - 00:02:49): Well, Speed, well, let’s just, uh, let’s just get into Six Figures This Month. I think we bored people enough unless something cool comes up on the screen in regards to WrestleMania and you can do a watch-along. Um, all right, Ryan. I have a big list, you have a small list, so why don’t you go first?

Ryan (00:02:49 - 00:02:58): I will go first. Okay, so since we last recorded, which was only 2 weeks ago— so was it just 2 weeks ago now?

Ed (00:02:58 - 00:02:59): No, it’s 3 weeks ago.

Ryan (00:03:00 - 00:03:09): Okay, either way, um, I was able to pick up my retro-carded G.I. Joe Classified Crim— a female Crimson Viper.

Ed (00:03:09 - 00:03:09): Damn you.

Ryan (00:03:10 - 00:03:31): That showed up in stores. And I went— so after we talked about it last episode, how there was announcement there was a Brendan Routh Superman figure coming, so I went to pre-order it, and then they phoned me the next day, it was there. I did not realize it was that quick of a turnaround for the release on that figure.

Ed (00:03:31 - 00:03:39): Well, last week when I went to GameStop to pick up a couple things I saw it there.

Ryan (00:03:39 - 00:03:40): Well, yeah, that was—

Ed (00:03:40 - 00:03:45): and I pre-ordered it the morning before, the night before, and I was like, oh dang, because I had it on order.

Ryan (00:03:46 - 00:03:46): Yep.

Ed (00:03:46 - 00:03:59): Um, so yeah, I had it coming and I was like, hmm, because always action figure in hand is better than action figure on pre-order. But, um, it showed up this week, but we’ll talk about that later.

Ryan (00:03:59 - 00:04:56): Uh, so I did get my Brendan Routh Superman. Uh, at that same time I had pre-ordered that little— I don’t know if you saw it on GameStop or EB’s website this little kryptonite prop display. It’s like a little base with some kryptonite. You put batteries in it and it glows and pulses. If you follow us on Instagram, you’ll see it because I pre-ordered it and then it showed up this week. Did you post that? I did. I posted it as a reel the other day. I put it in with my Superman display, so it’s like all my Superman are surrounding a big chunk of kryptonite. While I was there picking that up, I was looking around and pulled the trigger on picking up the Dark Knight Joker because they had that one in there. I didn’t even think to look at the time to see if they had the ‘89 comic book Joker because that’s apparently been released now. I haven’t seen it.

Ed (00:04:56 - 00:05:03): I haven’t seen it yet. Um, I definitely hadn’t seen it in store. I have it pre-ordered on Big Bad because I want it.

Ryan (00:05:04 - 00:05:17): Yeah, I was surprised actually. So we’ll get into it during the releases. There’s— I saw some figures in store that they’re just advertising they’re going up for pre-order like next week, like on the 21st.

Ed (00:05:17 - 00:05:18): For which ones?

Ryan (00:05:19 - 00:05:33): Starman. Oh yeah, the new Starman. And there’s a couple other ones that are on the release that I saw them in the store already, but then they were advertising on McFarlane on Facebook that they’re going up for pre-order at select retailers on the 21st.

Ed (00:05:34 - 00:05:41): So I did see the Starman like shown, but yeah, I— it’s probably what I’m gonna pass on anyway.

Ryan (00:05:41 - 00:05:56): So, mm-hmm. So I got that, those ones. And then thanks to you and your trips south of the border, you found the Jada Toys diecast Transformer colors Ecto-1.

Ed (00:05:58 - 00:06:01): For me, one of the only things I’ve ever found at Ross.

Ryan (00:06:01 - 00:06:01): Yep.

Ed (00:06:02 - 00:06:11): I don’t usually find stuff at Ross, but it was there, and then I was like, well, let’s see if you want it. Yep. I didn’t even realize at first it was Optimus.

Ryan (00:06:11 - 00:06:13): No, he’s just red.

Ed (00:06:14 - 00:06:21): Why would they have a red Ecto-1? That didn’t make sense. And then it wasn’t until I looked at— because there’s not enough on it to look like Optimus.

Ryan (00:06:22 - 00:06:54): Well, see, it’s not Optimus, it’s just Autobot colored, because there is an Optimus Prime they saw a truck that’s white, yeah, with Ghostbusters logos on it. So they did a Ghostbusters Optimus Prime. Yeah. So you picked that up for me. And then staying in that Transformers lane, you came across the— from Transformers 1, the animated movie— the Matrix of Leadership. And even though I’ve got my full-size fancy Hasbro one on order coming later this summer, I said, yeah, pick that up for me.

Ed (00:06:54 - 00:06:56): Well, it was $15 US.

Ryan (00:06:56 - 00:06:57): Yeah.

Ed (00:06:57 - 00:07:05): Plus they gave me a $5 discount because the Ecto-1, they couldn’t get the UPC code to work.

Ryan (00:07:05 - 00:07:06): Oh really?

Ed (00:07:06 - 00:07:13): So the guy’s like, you know what? He said, our generic toy code is $10. I’ll just give it to you for $10. Is that okay? I’m like, yeah, sure.

Ryan (00:07:14 - 00:07:15): No, no, no, please charge me more.

Ed (00:07:16 - 00:07:21): The price was written right on it, $14.99. But he’s like, no, I can’t get the UPC to work. So I’ll just give it to you for $10.

Ryan (00:07:21 - 00:07:22): That works.

Ed (00:07:22 - 00:07:24): So that’s why you got a bit of a discount on those.

Ryan (00:07:24 - 00:07:24): Nice.

Ed (00:07:25 - 00:07:38): And I figured if you didn’t want the Matrix of Leadership, yeah, I would have just like, okay, I’ll just keep it then and, you know, have it somewhere else. Maybe sandblast the Transformers 1 off because that movie is so god-awful.

Ryan (00:07:40 - 00:07:42): I thought you liked it when we watched it, when we talked about it.

Ed (00:07:42 - 00:07:43): Transformers 1?

Ryan (00:07:43 - 00:07:45): Yeah, I thought that from that whole podcast, I thought you liked it.

Ed (00:07:46 - 00:07:46): No.

Ryan (00:07:47 - 00:07:47): Okay.

Ed (00:07:47 - 00:07:49): No, I was like 60% on that.

Ryan (00:07:49 - 00:07:50): Oh, okay.

Ed (00:07:51 - 00:08:02): And looking back, that movie gets worse every time I think about it. If I had the choice to watch Transformers 1 or just go back and watch ‘86, I will choose ‘86 every time. I would rather watch—

Ryan (00:08:02 - 00:08:04): ‘86 is always the answer.

Ed (00:08:04 - 00:08:11): I would rather watch Optimus Prime die every time than watch Transformers 1 one more time.

Ryan (00:08:11 - 00:08:15): Okay. And that’s it for my toy list. That’s it.

Ed (00:08:16 - 00:08:18): I could just keep going on my hot take about Transformers 1.

Ryan (00:08:19 - 00:08:20): It’s your time to shine.

Six Figures This Month: Ed’s Pickups

Ed (00:08:21 - 00:08:37): My time to shine like the Turd in the punch bowl. Okay, let’s see. I have, I have like 2 pages worth of stuff because, you know, like, for having a plan to buy less toys, um, I have like more.

Ryan (00:08:37 - 00:08:38): It worked for 1 month.

Ed (00:08:39 - 00:08:53): All right, let’s— I’m gonna try to keep an order because everything’s all over the place. Um, remember how Mattel Creations had the Princess Adora/Despara New Eternia figure?

Ryan (00:08:53 - 00:08:57): Uh, yes, I remember you mentioning it to me and that you were like, oh, I think I might have to order this.

Ed (00:08:58 - 00:08:59): Uh, so it’s on Amazon for $30.

Ryan (00:09:00 - 00:09:01): Oh, nice.

Ed (00:09:01 - 00:09:04): So that’s a lot cheaper than it was on Mattel Creations.

Ryan (00:09:04 - 00:09:04): Yeah.

Ed (00:09:05 - 00:09:39): And it’s one of those that it comes with all the pieces to make Despara, but if you pull all the pieces off, then you got Adora. You have Adora. So I Not meant to sound creepy, people. I stripped down my Despara so I could— Ryan made it creepy. Um, so I stripped her down so that it was a— I wanted a Princess Adora. I wanted her on the shelf with the She-Ra. I couldn’t care less about Despara because, like, even watching the animated series, there was no Despara. Like, it’s—

Ryan (00:09:39 - 00:09:42): yeah, no, she— well, she wasn’t called that, at least when—

Ed (00:09:42 - 00:09:56): no. And the whole story with a New Eternia is that Adora overthrows Hordak and becomes leader of the Horde. So that’s, that’s why she is Despara, because Despara is her Hordak name.

Ryan (00:09:56 - 00:09:59): Oh, okay. Well, I knew that that was her Hordak name, like her Horde name. Yeah.

Ed (00:10:00 - 00:10:24): Okay, so also, um, with Masters of the Universe, I found— so a lot of the Masters stuff is starting to come out. If you checked out our Instagram story, I posted a bunch of clips of toy spotting. The new Chronicles line, I found the Scare Glow.

Ryan (00:10:25 - 00:10:25): Okay.

Ed (00:10:26 - 00:10:32): Which actually, Scare Glow on the packaging is described as the ghost of Skeletor.

Ryan (00:10:33 - 00:10:35): Really? Okay.

Ed (00:10:35 - 00:10:49): Yep. I saw him. I I haven’t bought him yet. I figured there was a lot of them, so I’m like, yeah, I’ll probably— I’ll find him later. I’ll find him when he’s on sale, or I’ll find him when I’m desperate.

Ryan (00:10:49 - 00:10:49): Yeah.

Ed (00:10:50 - 00:12:00): Um, then they also had the Masters of the Universe Core Series. I didn’t buy it either, and it is the kids line, so it’s the $10 but fairly decent articulation, and it’s not movie, it’s not It’s just sort of a reimagining of Masters. So they had Skeletor, so I was looking at it, but I’m like, I got to make a cut somewhere. But then I found the Masters of the Universe Mighty Masters— He-Man, Skeletor, Beast Man, and Man-at-Arms— and they are a 3-inch figure. Okay, so kind of like the Super Hero Squad size, um, a little bit taller than them, but Like, oh yeah, you got some weight over there. Okay, so about 3-inch, um, decent articulation on the legs. So they, they have ball joint legs, arms like one-way arms, head like ball swivel on a head but not too much range of motion. But they have actions. So Beast Man and Man-at-Arms have arm swing motion, and He-Man and Skeletor have waist swing.

Ryan (00:12:00 - 00:12:01): Okay.

Ed (00:12:01 - 00:12:03): So, and they’re $5.

Ryan (00:12:03 - 00:12:04): Oh, there’s nothing wrong with that.

Ed (00:12:05 - 00:12:10): So I thought, you know what, the sculpt on them is pretty decent. They look like the original figures from ‘82.

Ryan (00:12:10 - 00:12:17): I was gonna say, just from— I can see Man-at-Arms from here, and just, you know, at that size, and the color looks good.

Ed (00:12:17 - 00:12:17): Yeah.

Ryan (00:12:18 - 00:12:22): So it’s one of those— I’m like, yeah, no, for a nice little desk, I’ll buy them.

Ed (00:12:22 - 00:12:58): They won’t take up too much space. So I think when it comes down to Masters, I’m going to be all in on movie I’m going to be all in on the Chronicles. Okay, if it’s ones I want, like it’s going to be core characters like He-Man, She-Ra, Teela, Evil-Lyn, Skeletor, um, or unless I see them on clearance because I don’t have a lot of space for Masters anymore and I gotta— yeah, I gotta make more Masters space. But I am glad that in the last 6 years we have got a hell of a lot of Masters because even if you go back to a couple years ago on the podcast, I kind of was like, hey, I think Masters is starting to peter out because there’s nothing left to do.

Ryan (00:12:58 - 00:12:58): No.

Ed (00:12:59 - 00:13:14): Um, but that’s, that’s been paying off. Um, so I also picked up— all right, let’s go Tim McFarland. So I— you got your Brennan Roth?

Ryan (00:13:15 - 00:13:15): I did.

Ed (00:13:16 - 00:13:23): I got mine, so it showed up. Yep. I also got the 1978 theatrical version of Superman.

Ryan (00:13:23 - 00:13:32): I saw that one in store, but I passed on it because I’m like, as much as I would like to have another Christopher Reeves, I’ve already got the one. I don’t know if I need another one right now, and I was already spending enough money there that day.

Ed (00:13:33 - 00:13:44): Well, I got him on pre-order. Well, I had him on pre-order, and then it showed up as pre-order again on eBay, so I pre-ordered a second time. I thought it was a another one coming.

Ryan (00:13:45 - 00:13:45): Oh, okay.

Ed (00:13:45 - 00:14:09): So if you ever want a ‘78 Superman, I’m probably gonna have a couple of them. Oh, but I love Christopher Reeve, and there’s multiple heads. And actually, the price is so— like, it’s only $25, and that should be a $35 figure. Yeah. So I’m like, you know what, getting the Edge discount and $25, so you end up getting the figure for like $21. I’ve paid a lot more for something.

Ryan (00:14:09 - 00:14:09): Oh yeah, no.

Ed (00:14:10 - 00:14:23): Um, I also got some Marvel Legends stuff. I was out in Alberta and I was at EB Games and they had the Deadpool and Wolverine Blade figure.

Ryan (00:14:24 - 00:14:25): Oh, did you pick one of those up? Yeah, nice.

Ed (00:14:26 - 00:14:35): I was in Alberta, so then, you know, your figure, 5% tax, plus with the 15%, like, I ended up getting the figure for like $30.

Ryan (00:14:35 - 00:14:36): Yeah, nice.

Ed (00:14:36 - 00:15:04): And it comes with two heads and two different sets of glasses, and I’m like, no, I need a blade. And then I had on pre-order the battle-damaged Wolverine from Deadpool and Wolverine, so he showed up. And again, two heads on him. I like now how the claws are compared to what Wolverine’s claws used to be back in early figures.

Ryan (00:15:04 - 00:15:05): Yeah.

Ed (00:15:05 - 00:15:14): The only problem is one of mine, the claws isn’t exactly straight. So, you know, it sort of bothers me a little bit when the claws aren’t perfect.

Ryan (00:15:15 - 00:15:24): That happened with my, my female Crimson Guard. Her sword has a wobble to it. I like to have the Crimson Guard standing at it with the swords in front of them.

Ed (00:15:24 - 00:15:24): Yeah.

Ryan (00:15:25 - 00:15:28): And so I did that, and if you look at it and it goes, wow.

Ed (00:15:29 - 00:15:30): A little bit of heat.

Ryan (00:15:30 - 00:15:34): It’s up on the shelf with the rest of the figures now, so I won’t notice it too much, too badly.

Ed (00:15:34 - 00:15:57): Okay, well then. Oh, so I guess we switch back over to some more Marvel Legends because I— or McFarlane— because I said about ‘78 Superman, um, because I have— I forgot I ordered ‘78 Superman with the Joker and Bane wave that came out.

Ryan (00:15:57 - 00:15:57): Yep.

Ed (00:15:57 - 00:16:10): And then I ordered it with the Brandon Roth wave, so I got a couple Supermans kicking around. But I also got Dark Knight Rises Bane and the Dark Knight Joker, so I now have the complete series.

Ryan (00:16:10 - 00:16:10): Nice.

Ed (00:16:10 - 00:16:22): Just waiting for ‘89 Joker to come in. And then, um, I’ve also got Black Canary on order. So then after that, it’d be like, well, you know, thank you, McFarlane. We Did very well with you.

Ryan (00:16:22 - 00:16:24): Thank you for your service. You’ve got my money.

Ed (00:16:25 - 00:16:33): Oh, actually, one more DC one. Um, I got, uh, I did the Kickstarter on their Harley Quinn, so I’m waiting.

Ryan (00:16:33 - 00:16:35): Oh yes, that’d be fancy one.

Ed (00:16:35 - 00:17:01): Yeah, so that would probably be the last McFarlane DC I buy. And then, as I said before, if Mattel has a really good looking Batman, I’ll buy it. But other than that, it’d be like, no, um I’m good. Yeah, I think McFarland did a good job with DC and did a good investment in McFarland over the years, and I’m done. Um, got a big box of stuff from Big Bad Toy Store.

Ryan (00:17:03 - 00:17:03): That’s always fun.

Ed (00:17:04 - 00:17:06): One of the— I think it’s the Big Bad Labs or whatever.

Ryan (00:17:07 - 00:17:09): Yep, or Big Bad Workshop or whatever they’re calling—

Ed (00:17:11 - 00:17:17): they have a thing called Fist. Okay, I bought one of their figures. It was like their Monsters versus—

Ryan (00:17:17 - 00:17:19): oh, okay, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Ed (00:17:19 - 00:17:22): I don’t know, I bought one of their figures on for $10. It was on clearance.

Ryan (00:17:23 - 00:17:23): How is it?

Ed (00:17:24 - 00:18:32): I haven’t taken out of the box. Oh, okay, looks okay. I was like, yeah, go on a shelf with the Crimson Guard or with the Dreadnoughts, or, you know, kind of put them with Sergeant Slaughter. I don’t know, kind of looks cyberpunk-ish. It’s got, you know, tattoos and Mohawk. And okay, so we’ll see how that is. Um, also my pre-order, and I sent it to the group chat with you and Brent, the Big Bad Workshop COPS Bulletproof figure. And I’ve already started making a list for figures of the year. Oh yeah, and Bulletproof is on there. I haven’t even taken out of the box yet. The packaging is awesome. Looking at the figures, like, yep, Give them to me all. Yeah, just start making them. Come out with Long Arm next. Come out with Big Boss. Like, just do it. Give them all to me. I will buy every single one, you know, like, because they’re cops and we deserve to have the best cops we can get because I loved COPS. You know, it’s one of those— never got into COPS, but I still— I love the cartoon. I love the premise. Yeah, yeah, give us—

Ryan (00:18:32 - 00:18:33): fighting crime in a future time.

Ed (00:18:34 - 00:18:49): I love Mask as well, but I’m willing to back away from Mask and go all in on Cops and Bravestar. But Bravestar, I’m going to be beating that drum forever because I love Bravestar. Oh, and Ramen Toys have been posting the pictures.

Ryan (00:18:51 - 00:18:59): Okay, since we’re on the Ramen Toys kick, I didn’t put it on in the news, but did you see their Knight Rider? They— it’s their Hasselhoff end kit.

Ed (00:19:00 - 00:19:00): Yes.

Ryan (00:19:00 - 00:19:17): So I’m guessing they actually got this licensed. Oh, they have to if it’s Hasselhoff. Yeah, I know they did their, uh, their fighter pilot, like, you know, unlicensed likenesses of Tom Cruise and Goose and all that, but those were extra heads that you could get.

Ed (00:19:17 - 00:20:00): I kind of wish the Ramen Toy stuff was like, just have a distributor like Big Bad, make it easier on us, and I’ll buy them all. Um, Okay, also in Big Bad, I needed something to finish off my Mighty Morphin Power Rangers collection. Yep, because I got the Super 7 Deluxe or whatever Ultimates. They also had the Super 7 Super Cyborg version of, um, the Megazord. Okay, so it’s like 5-point articulation. You can’t do much with it, but it comes with the Power Sword. Also, the chest piece comes off and there’s like little Power Rangers are molded into his chest.

Ryan (00:20:00 - 00:20:00): Okay.

Ed (00:20:00 - 00:20:56): And it comes with blueprints on the, on the, on the Morphin Core and all that kind of stuff. So I was like, yeah, it was on clearance. I ended up getting it for like $30 or something like that. And I’m like, you know what, it looks perfect. It’s on the shelf with the rest of the Power Rangers. Um, and then also speaking about Power Rangers, Yesterday I was at a Compass Con event in Coburg coming back from a road trip, and one of the vendors was there just with video games set up, and they had a Sega Genesis set up, and they were playing Mighty Morphin Power Rangers on Genesis. And I sat down to play it because I’m like, oh yeah, I’ll play Power Rangers. I never played the game before. And it’s using the same engine as, as, uh, because it’s made by Capcom or Bandai or whoever, um, it’s using the same engine as Street Fighter.

Ryan (00:20:57 - 00:21:00): Now what kind of a game is it? Is it a side scroller or is it just like a Street Fighter?

Ed (00:21:00 - 00:21:07): It’s a Street Fighter. Just you pick, you pick a ranger, then you pick a ranger, and then, and then Rita throws, throws monsters at you.

Ryan (00:21:07 - 00:21:07): Oh, okay.

Ed (00:21:08 - 00:21:31): And it’s kind of made for kids because it’s just two-button controls. Punch and hard punch. Yeah, so you just— it’s just a button masher, but it’s— yeah, it’s, it’s cool. I really enjoyed it. So, um, I ended up— they had it to play. Well, coming back into town last night, I was able to grab a copy at, uh, Power Up Gaming.

Ryan (00:21:31 - 00:21:31): Nice.

Ed (00:21:31 - 00:22:12): So I fired up my Genesis this morning, make sure it worked, and yeah, it’s, it’s cool. So I’m happy with it. All right, let’s get into the big— oh, uh, one other pre-order, um, in regards to GI Joe, because we talked about it last, last time about the Cobra Guard, Cobra Law Royal Guard, and that figure, just the other options, like the, yeah, the extended options that would not be normally on the regular figure just makes it look too cool. So I’m like, no, I gotta have a second one. So the second one, I’ll put all the bone armor on it.

Ryan (00:22:12 - 00:22:29): And I did that with my first one. Yeah, so that’s why I need to get a second one. And I looked, so I noticed today, um, they are available to purchase through eBay’s website. They’ve got them in stock. Uh, now it doesn’t, you know, if you buy it on the website, the option for in-store pickup’s not there.

Ed (00:22:29 - 00:22:30): Yeah, you gotta—

Ryan (00:22:30 - 00:22:34): but I wonder if You might be able to go into the store and order one to ship.

Ed (00:22:34 - 00:22:36): I ordered mine to ship to home.

Ryan (00:22:37 - 00:22:37): Nice.

Ed (00:22:37 - 00:22:43): Um, I— well, I also saw a bunch down at Walmarts down in the States.

Ryan (00:22:43 - 00:22:46): Yeah, I saw some videos. They’re starting to show up again. They’re getting restocked in the stores.

Ed (00:22:47 - 00:22:59): And I saw a whole bunch, which makes sense, the Special Forces. But they’re still $42 American. And yeah, like, the Special Forces figure is like the greatest, but I’m probably gonna wait now until it hits Ollie’s.

Ryan (00:22:59 - 00:23:00): Yeah.

Ed (00:23:00 - 00:23:19): Um, so that’s the only G.I. Joe. Now let’s— oh, I got— okay, so on the road I picked up, um, I kind of broke down and bought it even though I hate the movie so much, the Transformers Blockies Soundwave.

Ryan (00:23:20 - 00:23:25): I was like, that’s a good— I know it’s the one from Transformers 1, but it’s a good generic look.

Ed (00:23:25 - 00:23:37): Yeah, it looks like Shock. Yeah, like it looks like Shock. Shockwave. So, and Shockwave’s my favorite, so I’m like, no, I gotta get them now. I just got to do a few little adjustments on my Transformers shelf because I’m kind of getting too many Transformers.

Ryan (00:23:37 - 00:23:37): Yep.

Ed (00:23:39 - 00:24:05): Sorry, I don’t have too many Transformers, I have too many Shockwaves and Optimus Prime because that’s all I collect. All right, and as we said, it’s WrestleMania weekend and the wrestling is on, and I got a lot of wrestling stuff. Um, so Amazon, I got lucky. I was able to find a WWE Elite Series Chyna.

Ryan (00:24:05 - 00:24:05): Nice.

Ed (00:24:06 - 00:24:13): In the SummerSlam gear. Now she’s being re-released where she also comes with the Intercontinental title.

Ryan (00:24:13 - 00:24:14): Oh, okay.

Ed (00:24:14 - 00:26:15): And a few other things. So this is just Chyna by herself, but it was the early 2000s version of Chyna, uh, like when around the time that she was in Playboy and, and, uh, the all the leather gear, like it’s around the same time that she was with Eddie Guerrero. And, and I still believe, like I saw a documentary about her and I still believe where she said that she was one of the driving forces, like it was her and Stone Cold Steve Austin that they were some of the most popular stars at the time. And I tend to agree with her because Chyna was everywhere at that point. And, you know, like, she kind of got a bad rap and it kind of led to her ultimate demise. But like, when she went to go renegotiate her contract and she wanted Stone Cold Steve Austin money and she was told no, um, but she moved the needle. Like, she Yeah, like there was really nobody in wrestling like her, though. Like, she could go toe-to-toe with the guys and, you know, and it would be believable after she, you know, did a lot of surgery on herself to change her appearance. Yeah, she could be with the Divas and look better than them, or she could— and she could still wrestle with the guys because Like, she was such a— that’s how she trained. She couldn’t train with the female wrestlers because she was too big and too strong. So, um, I always liked Chyna, so I had to have that figure. So she’s on my, you know, like, on my wrestling shelf of, of the wrestlers I really liked and admired. Um, and then I got lucky. This figure has been incredibly hard to find. I end up Paid a little bit more than I should, but I found it on the American Amazon site, and it is the WWE Ultimate Version Hulk Hogan.

Ryan (00:26:16 - 00:26:16): Okay.

Ed (00:26:17 - 00:26:26): And this is the Hulk that comes— he comes with a cloth shirt, but he also comes with a rubber shirt with the hands already molded into the shirt where he’s ripping the shirt open.

Ryan (00:26:26 - 00:26:27): That’s a nice effect.

Ed (00:26:27 - 00:28:55): And it’s like that thing, like It disappeared off of pre-orders as soon as it was launched, and it was like, no, that figure just— I had to have it. It is the ultimate Hulk Hogan figure. Um, and I think there’s only going to be two Hulk Hogan figures I buy left. Like, uh, they’re supposed to be coming out with the Bash at the Beach. Yeah, 3-pack with, with Hall and Nash. So I want that one. And there’s a WCW Hogan coming out that I want. And I do have to find an NWO Hogan at some point. So, but that Ultimate Hulk Hogan is the ultimate Hulk Hogan. Like, he’s front and center on my Hulk Hogan shelf because he’s amazing. Um, okay, wrapping up a bunch of the other wrestling stuff I got. Uh, I picked up the WWE Elite Series Cody Rhodes where he’s wearing the brown suit. And he’s holding on to the WWWF Championship, the one that his dad was trying to get. So I needed that because I can never have too many Codys. Also because I can’t have too many Codys, I picked up the Main Event Showdown Series. So those are the 2-packs, and it’s Cody Rhodes versus John Cena. It also comes with the WWE Championship, and I was going to give it to Cody But if you look, um, you know, like depending on what series you buy, the title belts are better or worse. Well, this one is not the greatest title belt, but on the side plate it says ‘Never Seen 17,’ and it was like, okay, so I put it with— I put it with John Cena. But Cena’s also smiling in it, and he’s wearing the Vegas t-shirt, so I guess if he’s wearing the Vegas t-shirt, then that would have been WrestleMania. Anyways, um, I gave it to Cena. And for being one of the Main Event series, it is a decent Cena, like a decent sculpt. And, uh, he comes with a hat already molded. So some of the ones where you put the hat on, it looks goofy. So when it’s molded onto his head, looks good. Um, Cody’s— Cody’s head, because there’s different Codys that come. Like when you get the low, low version of Codys, the head looks too big for his body. But I took the head from the Cody Rhodes with a suit, I popped it on the Main Event Series one. It’s a slightly smaller head and it looks better.

Ryan (00:28:55 - 00:29:02): So did you do it— is the photo you have of that one, is that with the head swap, the photo you post on Instagram?

Ed (00:29:02 - 00:29:02): Yeah.

Ryan (00:29:03 - 00:29:11): Okay, because I could have sworn when I was going through them, one of them, the head looked almost like— almost thought it looked better than it deserved to be on that figure.

Ed (00:29:11 - 00:29:24): Yeah, yeah, because I used the Elite head on the Main Event body. Um, also down in the States, and I don’t see them up here, they have, uh, down the States they got a blind box called WWE Champs.

Ryan (00:29:25 - 00:29:25): Okay.

Ed (00:29:26 - 00:29:48): And it’s a box that’s in the shape of the title belt, and it’s, um a 3-piece figure, so legs, body, and head, and you snap them all together. And they come with an accessory, and they come with a little collector’s card. So I got the first one, I opened it up in the parking lot, and I didn’t pull— I pulled the bag out because it’s all blind bag.

Ryan (00:29:48 - 00:29:48): Yep.

Ed (00:29:48 - 00:29:53): And then I look and the card’s there, so it was like, oh, and it tells you I got a Logan Paul.

Ryan (00:29:55 - 00:29:56): So I’m like, crap.

Ed (00:29:57 - 00:30:34): So then I was leaving the States And I— because I don’t see him up here, so I gave one more shot. I’m reaching through the barrel and I’m just— I got my eyes closed and I’m just hoping and hoping and hoping. I’m like, nope, this is the one. This is the one that I, I, I see. And I get out to the parking lot and as soon as I open it up, I’m like, do I pull it out or do I pull it out and see the card? And I just pull it up and I see the card and all I see is Cody. And I’m like, yes, I got that! I got Cody! So on my— it— I’m like, I don’t need to get down the rabbit hole of buying blind box.

Ryan (00:30:34 - 00:30:35): Yep.

Ed (00:30:35 - 00:31:01): I’m like, because there are some good ones. There’s Randy and there’s CM Punk. And but I’m like, nope, I got— I got Cody on the second pull. I’m good. And I figure somebody will take a Logan Paul from me, I guess. Um, so they, they were fun. Um, the other one that I don’t want to fall down the blind bag hole, but it’s also a good one too, is the, uh, the blind bags for the title belts. Yep, I got a couple of them.

Ryan (00:31:01 - 00:31:02): They have those at Walmart.

Ed (00:31:03 - 00:31:13): Yeah, I buy them, I buy them up here because they’re $5 up here. They’re $7— they’re $5 US or they’re $5 up here, so I’m like, that’s $7 Canadian if I buy them in the States.

Ryan (00:31:13 - 00:31:24): The first time I saw them, I actually— I bought a few months ago, I bought them. I saw, saw those. I bought one for myself and one for Brent and brought it to him at the store because he’s going to work that night. We both got the same belt.

Ed (00:31:24 - 00:31:25): What belt did you get?

Ryan (00:31:25 - 00:31:36): We got the NXT, uh, North American Championship, which was great at the time because at the time it was when Ethan Page had just won that belt. So I was like, oh yeah, that’s cool.

Ed (00:31:37 - 00:31:42): Well, I got two of them. I bought one today. I got the Brahma Bull belt.

Ryan (00:31:42 - 00:31:42): Okay.

Ed (00:31:42 - 00:31:56): And then last week when I bought one, I got the, uh, 90s era round title belt. Okay, so it was after the Gold Eagle.

Ryan (00:31:56 - 00:31:58): Yep. Um, but before the—

Ed (00:31:58 - 00:32:10): I’m hoping— getting— I want, I want the Gold Eagle. I want the Gold Eagle belt. Like, if I’m buying a belt, even if I ever do a Cody Rhodes cosplay, I want to do the gold, Gold Eagle belt.

Ryan (00:32:10 - 00:32:19): You might as well buy the— if you’re gonna buy a belt, get one that you, you know, that He at least— he has held it once. Yep, because they brought it out of retirement for him.

Ed (00:32:20 - 00:33:26): Um, okay, so rounding out what I got, I also picked up— I’ve been looking forever— this is a WWE Elite Series Monday Night War Collection WCW No Fear Roddy Piper. Yeah, and it looks weird in packaging because it doesn’t look great. You take them out of packaging, it is perfect. Because his hair looks too blonde. Okay, but his hair was a little bit lighter during that run. But the face sculpt is good, comes with the leather jacket, comes with the kilt. It’s like— nope. I love Roddy Piper so much. Um, I do want to get the Roddy Piper Piper’s Pit collection. I’m not paying $75 US for it. I’m waiting until Target puts on clearance. Um, and then I’ve It’s the first one I bought of that style. It’s the WWE Superstars line where it is the— it’s not the Masters Universe line, it’s the Masters Universe style sculpt. So it’s, it’s the figures, they look like Masters figures but they’re wrestling.

Ryan (00:33:27 - 00:33:33): It’s not the Masters of the WWE Universe figures that— yeah, but it’s that still, it’s those figures just without the He-Man.

Ed (00:33:33 - 00:33:55): Yeah. Um, I got a Jake the Snake. Oh yeah, the head sculpt is like perfect on it. And the funny thing is too, is like the hands is the same scale as the hands on the Elite Series. So like when I was doing John Cena, it was like I needed an extra hand and I was like, oh, actually the Jake the Snake will work on the John Cena.

Ryan (00:33:55 - 00:33:56): That’s funny.

Ed (00:33:56 - 00:34:11): Main Event Series, because like the Main Event, they come with no extra hands or anything like that. So I got that to work. And then the— I was so excited to find it for the Elite Series Demolition Axe and Smash.

Ryan (00:34:11 - 00:34:12): Those look nice.

Ed (00:34:12 - 00:34:47): I found them, I texted Brent, and I’m like, do you need these? And I was hoping you’d say, no, I’ve got them. He’s like, yes please, how much? And I went, so I’m like, well I can’t back out now, so I told him, he sent me the money. And then, uh, Friday morning I’m leaving— I’m leaving, uh, no, sorry, Thursday night I’m in New Hampshire. I stop and I found them. I found two more.

Ryan (00:34:48 - 00:34:52): See, that was— that’s your good toy karma. That you passed on it. I got it for a friend.

Ed (00:34:53 - 00:35:13): I passed along a figure friend a figure once. And the Axe and Smash are so good. Like, the face sculpt, like, the face paint is perfect. The sculpts are perfect. The— they are pretty much like some of the best wrestling figures.

Ryan (00:35:18 - 00:35:24): Yeah, those ones look— I saw Brent, you— I saw your pictures of them last night. I saw Brent’s pictures of them. Oh yeah, it’s like, yeah, there.

Ed (00:35:24 - 00:35:38): I’m like, no, I’m putting them— I’m, I’m chalking it up to now I bought the WrestleFest arcade and they were in that. So that’s how I’m going to justify it. They are in the arcade, so I need to own them.

Ryan (00:35:38 - 00:35:38): Of course.

Ed (00:35:39 - 00:36:08): Um, now I’m using that logic. Now I’m upset because I did see a Million Dollar Man a while ago and I, I passed on them. So now I gotta go back down I think I was down in southern Ontario somewhere, so I gotta go find that Million Dollar Man because he’s in it. Stupid logic. Um, and then closing out the WWE stuff, uh, Brent, apparently he found a, uh, WrestleMania bunker up in Orillia.

Ryan (00:36:09 - 00:36:09): Yep.

Ed (00:36:10 - 00:36:17): And ended up getting me, uh, King Kong Bundy and Jesse the Body Ventura in LJN style.

Ryan (00:36:18 - 00:36:47): So the one we found out about the bunker first from a customer at the store posting photos of it in Orillia. He came across it in Barrie at the Bayfield location in the morning and found those. Because I went there that afternoon after work, saw the bunker and looked, and there was like nothing good left in it. And that’s what he did when he told me, I was like, that he picked that up for— he’s like, oh, when did you see it? Oh, I was there that, you know, that same morning. I was like, oh well, that makes sense. Because there was nothing good left in it.

Ed (00:36:47 - 00:36:56): Well, when he found Jesse, he’s like, do you want Jesse? And I’m like, yeah, I’ll take Jesse. And then, then he’s like, oh, they also got a King Kong Bundy. And I’m like, yeah, just get them both.

Ryan (00:36:56 - 00:36:57): Yeah, just, just buy them.

Ed (00:36:57 - 00:37:23): Um, so I guess I’m all in now on the LJ— not all in, I’m selective on the— you’ve started a passive collection because, well, King Kong Bundy looks good with Hulk Hogan, and they, they’re all going to stay on card anyways. I’m not going to take them off the card. And then Jesse actually came on black card. I don’t know if there’s a difference on availability or just, you know, now in black.

Ryan (00:37:24 - 00:37:32): Um, yeah, Brent would probably have better knowledge on all that stuff, but I know he asked me, so I don’t know.

Ed (00:37:32 - 00:37:40): I don’t care. I don’t care if it’s blue card, black card. I just want them. Um, the next wave— well, I guess you’re going to mention anyway.

Ryan (00:37:40 - 00:37:48): Well, yeah, there’s some in the The early photos I saw today of the new wave that we’ll talk about later did show different color card backgrounds.

Ed (00:37:48 - 00:37:57): Yes, there are, because even back in the ’80s and ’90s, or the late ’80s up until ‘89, there were still two-color cards. Yeah, there’s blue card and black card.

Ryan (00:37:57 - 00:37:57): Yeah.

Ed (00:37:57 - 00:38:02): And, um, the one of the ones you’re going to mention, I did pre-order already.

Ryan (00:38:03 - 00:38:03): Nice.

Commercial Break

Ed (00:38:03 - 00:38:49): On Target America. So I’m like, oh no. I, I’m wondering how damaged that card’s going to be when it shows up. So it’s going to ship to the office. I couldn’t get the one I wanted. But anyways, we will wrap that up in the news. Uh, we are going to take a quick break, so I don’t know, Ryan, insert something fun here. With a taste of nuts and honey. Paul Hogan doesn’t eat nuts and honey. He just takes this, an unbeatable part of this nutritious breakfast. That’s better than a body slam. Undefeated and still champion.

Ryan (00:39:02 - 00:39:09): Hey, that’s what we get trying to put commercials in the episode. It was going so well.

Ed (00:39:09 - 00:39:27): Oh, it was going so well. Well, we had to take a bit of a break, so we thought we’d do a commercial break. And since we’re talking wrestling, let’s go to a classic commercial from 1985, brother, with the Honey Nut Cheerios and Hulk Hogan. But, uh, All right, Ryan, let’s do some news.

Toy News: Hasbro and EB Games

Ryan (00:39:27 - 00:39:43): What’s in the news? Okay, so before we get into the new releases, uh, we actually have a couple, uh, toy news things. Uh, so Lenny from Hasbro— yep, the face of the G.I. Joe team— yep, is no longer the face of the G.I. Joe team. He’s announced he’s leaving Hasbro.

Ed (00:39:44 - 00:39:44): Hmm.

Ryan (00:39:45 - 00:39:59): He’s been there— I think it said, uh, after 20 years of being with Hasbro. Or something like that. He has decided what was best for him and his family is he’s left Hasbro to join Boss Fight Studios.

Ed (00:40:01 - 00:40:06): Which I’m wondering, does it— because like, he seemed committed to G.I. Joe.

Ryan (00:40:06 - 00:40:06): Yep.

Ed (00:40:08 - 00:40:12): Is this also coincide with— because Hasbro’s changing locations.

Ryan (00:40:12 - 00:40:12): Yes.

Ed (00:40:13 - 00:40:18): And I’m wondering if maybe he’s not going to relocate to Boston.

Ryan (00:40:20 - 00:40:29): I could totally see that being a reason. Because if he’s got a family, trying to move upstate with the whole family.

Ed (00:40:30 - 00:40:33): Well, and you’ve been in Providence, Rhode Island for almost 100 years.

Ryan (00:40:34 - 00:40:34): Yeah.

Ed (00:40:34 - 00:40:44): So, I don’t know. It’s interesting. I hope it doesn’t change classified and change the designs there.

Ryan (00:40:45 - 00:41:00): Oh, I don’t think— I think we’ll still— you know, he was— he wasn’t the only person working on it. It was a team. So I’m sure we won’t see that much difference. Just he was one of the faces that would always be on the videos and promotions. So, uh, yeah, it’ll be interesting going forward seeing what happens though.

Ed (00:41:00 - 00:41:07): Well, and we haven’t seen Emily for a while either. Um, so I don’t know if she’s— she was more general promotion.

Ryan (00:41:07 - 00:41:19): She was part of the marketing team, so she should just be working on other stuff. Or maybe, who knows, maybe she got promoted to a different role and isn’t, uh, doing the social media and being the face stuff anymore.

Ed (00:41:19 - 00:41:36): Yeah, because, well, like, it was like— I did enjoy talking to her at Fan Expo when I ran into her. So it’s, uh, yeah, definitely interesting. Uh, again, if we never watched any of the releases or lives, then we would have no idea who any of these people are.

Ryan (00:41:37 - 00:42:10): No. And then staying with Hasbro, we had the EB Games Hasbro team-up, you know, partnership announcement. So now EB Games is— they have a whole thing on their website where it’s a Hasbro Pulse partner, and they are now offering pre-orders and then orders for some of the Pulse exclusive items. I checked today just to see what was on there to see if there’s They have added the new, like, the, uh, what they called the rats, Cobra, the Cobra ground crew guys.

Ed (00:42:11 - 00:42:12): Oh yeah, yeah.

Ryan (00:42:12 - 00:43:13): Uh, they’re on EB now for pre-order, uh, along with some Transformers stuff. There’s some Star Wars stuff. Now, some items that are already available, like the vintage scale, uh, 4 or 5 pack of Stormtroopers from Star Wars, uh, you can find that in store now. Yeah, and it’s available on the website. So it’ll be interesting to see, like, they got that comic book Energon Universe comic book Optimus Prime that’s coming. So he’s got like the Megatron arm, and then, uh, the glow-in-the-dark real Ghostbusters Ecto-1’s on there. So it’ll be interesting. Some stuff, it’s like, oh, maybe if I saw it in store would be different than doing a pre-order. Like, there’s, uh, oh, from the Star Wars Black Series, that, uh, Stormtrooper group called Scar Squadron. Yeah, from the comics. So there’s a 2-pack that’s a Pulse exclusive of more characters from that squad. It’s there. It’s like, I don’t know if I want to preorder that, but you know, the right day, if I came across it in store and you got to scratch that toy itch.

Ed (00:43:13 - 00:43:17): Yeah, and if it’s a light toy month, you go, oh, I will buy this one.

Ryan (00:43:17 - 00:43:21): Exactly. So that was my— some news notes.

Ed (00:43:21 - 00:43:50): Okay, so Speaking as a Pulse member, if you’ve got Pulse, it’s worthwhile just being Pulse. Yeah, so yeah, like it’s, it’s an interesting thing if you don’t have Pulse. Um, me, I have— for me, my toy life, Pulse works perfect. Oh yeah, for sure, because I can get everything I want and it’s about the same price anyways. So yeah, it’s great to have the 15% discount on Edge, but if they when Edge changes that program.

Ryan (00:43:50 - 00:43:52): Yeah, who knows what’s going to happen like that come November.

Ed (00:43:52 - 00:44:17): I’m looking as just for me, yeah, it’s much better having Pulse. Yeah, the only thing is if something does get sold out on Pulse, if you happen to find it somewhere else like a Pulse exclusive, if it comes, if it sells out on Pulse but then is available after on EB, then, you know, like there was the, uh, you know, the Steeler and Short Fuse 2-pack that was able to pick up on EB.

Ryan (00:44:17 - 00:44:18): Yep.

Ed (00:44:18 - 00:44:40): Um, and then, well, I guess the other ones were— it was the Walmart exclusives where it was sold out on Pulse and I was able to just order them on Walmart. But no, it’s, uh, definitely, definitely going to be interesting in the next couple months to see where all that leads to, especially with EB as they, they change their rewards program. Yeah.

Toy News: McFarlane DC Announcements

Ryan (00:44:42 - 00:45:13): Okay, so, uh, Mr. Todd McFarlane has announced a whole bunch of new stuff. He still has the DC license for a while, so all kinds of new DC, uh, announcements. Uh, so from the Page Punchers line, newly announced, uh, Martian Manhunter. Yeah, with Justice League #77 is the issue it comes with. And then the platinum— Red Platinum Edition is, uh, Bloodwind. Yes, which we’d later find out is also Martian Manhunter in disguise. So that’s a nice little repaint tie-in.

Ed (00:45:14 - 00:45:19): And I forgot, like, I remember Bloodwind back in the ’90s and Funeral for a Friend.

Ryan (00:45:20 - 00:45:23): Oh yeah, part— he was one of these part of the Justice League that fights Doomsday.

Ed (00:45:23 - 00:45:29): So yeah, and, uh, yeah, I didn’t kind of forgot that it was Martian Manhunter. Maybe he never got that far along.

Ryan (00:45:29 - 00:45:38): Yeah, I think it was— I don’t know even if he was necessarily Martian Manhunter at the time. And if that just eventually got retconned in, probably retconned in.

Ed (00:45:38 - 00:45:40): Bloodwind was a cool-looking character.

Ryan (00:45:40 - 00:46:07): Yeah, I’d have to reread it and see if there’s any sequences where he gets stuck in like a burning building and it’s like, oh, fire. Um, then there’s also Robin with Teen Titans issue 41. That’s from the newer Teen Titans, uh, run. And then the Platinum, Red Platinum Edition is Miss Martian. From that same issue. So it’s the Miss Martian that we see, kind of in the same style as Young Justice.

Ed (00:46:09 - 00:46:09): Yep.

Ryan (00:46:11 - 00:46:19): They announced a new full-scale prop replica. They’re going to be giving us Lobo’s hook. Yep. From the upcoming Supergirl movie.

Ed (00:46:20 - 00:46:23): Yeah, it looked pretty cool. You’ll probably end up buying it and having another one.

Ryan (00:46:23 - 00:46:42): No, not a Lobo guy. They announced some more Batman cowls. These ones are the 1/3 scale. There was a Red Hood, a Batman Beyond, um, and Azrael from Batman Nightfall.

Ed (00:46:42 - 00:46:58): Yeah, I went to go pre-order it and then I wanted to add it to some other stuff and they did, they did me dirty where I couldn’t group my freight. Yeah, so they build on different—

Ryan (00:46:58 - 00:46:59): yeah, that’s the one thing.

Ed (00:46:59 - 00:47:21): So they billed me, so they’re gonna bill me 2 freight charges, and I went, you know what, it has different release dates. Screw you guys, I’m going home. I will just wait until it ever shows up in store. Yeah, because I’m like, no, I don’t need it that bad where I’m gonna pay an extra $10 to get a $20— no, yeah, 1/3 statue.

Ryan (00:47:21 - 00:47:23): You could probably easily 3D print on your printer too.

Ed (00:47:24 - 00:47:30): Yeah, I love— I love me some John Paul Valley, but no, not, not that much.

Ryan (00:47:31 - 00:47:46): Uh, and then so we got a Supergirl Movie Wave announced. That one has Supergirl, Supergirl with Baby Krypto, Lobo, Lobo’s space hog, and Kremm from the Yellow Hills.

Ed (00:47:47 - 00:47:49): I got all the Supergirls on pre-order.

Ryan (00:47:49 - 00:47:49): Nice.

Ed (00:47:50 - 00:48:13): So yeah, because gotta all in, you know, as long as they’re making movie stuff. Oh, if you’re still watching, listening, that we’ve, uh, are watching along to WrestleMania, we get a trailer for Mandalorian and Grogu, and they also sponsored the Fatal 4-Way Women’s Tag Team match.

Ryan (00:48:13 - 00:48:27): I was surprised when I noticed the, the the logo on the railing. I was like, oh, okay. And then they had a live-action Mandalorian and the prop with the movable Grogu on his back.

Ed (00:48:27 - 00:48:29): You mean movable Grogu? It was Grogu.

Ryan (00:48:29 - 00:48:31): Yeah, exactly. He moves. It was the real life.

Ed (00:48:31 - 00:48:39): They spent billions genetically engineering a Grogu. It’s not a puppet. It’s not an animatronic.

Ryan (00:48:39 - 00:48:39): He’s an actor.

Ed (00:48:40 - 00:48:40): Yeah.

Ryan (00:48:40 - 00:48:41): He was at the Oscars.

Ed (00:48:41 - 00:48:50): Yeah. Um, how, how does it move? It was on his back and it was moving, so it’s obviously— it’s a real thing.

Ryan (00:48:50 - 00:49:03): Yep, that’s true, has to be. But, uh, and then, uh, so just today I noticed a new listing for, uh, Super Friends wave. So it’s wave 4. In this wave we get a Lex Luthor and he’s got like the judge’s robes.

Ed (00:49:05 - 00:49:06): Oh yeah, yeah.

Ryan (00:49:06 - 00:49:16): Uh, there’s a Black Manta There’s a new Batman, a new Robin, and there’s an evil Aquaman. He’s got an eye patch.

Ed (00:49:16 - 00:49:23): When I saw the Lex Luthor, I can’t help but have the voice from Robot Chicken in my head. Yeah.

Ryan (00:49:25 - 00:49:31): Now would be normally when we talk about G.I. Joe, but there was no— since last recorded, there was no G.I. Joe announcements.

Ed (00:49:32 - 00:49:45): No, because we got our— well, ordered the Ramp Rats, ordered Yeah, um, the Retro Carded, um, Wild Bill and Friends. Yep. Yeah, it’s, uh, yeah, all that stuff was announced and then we recorded.

Ryan (00:49:45 - 00:49:48): So, and then we— it was announced, we recorded, then we ordered.

Ed (00:49:49 - 00:49:55): Yep. So I set a timer and I got reminded. So yeah, I got all that on order.

Ryan (00:49:55 - 00:49:56): And nice.

Ed (00:49:56 - 00:50:09): Um, yeah, still this year is just lots of great— oh yeah, GI Joe stuff coming out, and I Can’t wait. I’m, I’m almost up to date with opening everything, so that’s a good thing.

Ryan (00:50:10 - 00:50:18): Uh, I still have a few figures I haven’t opened from my stuff. I haven’t— I still haven’t opened that big Ghostbusters 4-pack or the, um, something else.

Ed (00:50:18 - 00:50:18): I—

Ryan (00:50:18 - 00:50:20): oh, I haven’t opened my— that Joker I bought this week.

Ed (00:50:21 - 00:50:31): I still have to open up the Ghostbusters 4-pack. Um, I have to rearrange my shelves because I don’t have enough Ghostbusters space.

Ryan (00:50:32 - 00:50:40): I rearranged some, some of my stuff. I bought some more of those, uh, acrylic, uh, yep, figure stands this week, last week. And, uh, so I rearranged a few things.

Ed (00:50:40 - 00:52:04): Well, I have to do a full-on rearrange in the basement, and with all the snowpack melting, there’s a lot of water in the basement, in the basement. And it’s just like I’m waiting for the basement to dry up because it’s— the amount of moisture is also affecting a few things in the basement. So I’m waiting for it to dry up, and I got to do a whole dust and re-clean. And I’m also going to— I’ve been selling stuff on eBay, and I think it’s getting to the point where I’m just gonna have to maybe just bite the bullet and come into the store and say, hey, I’ve got these two totes of stuff, like what, what do you mean? Yeah, uh, because like I’ve got the Marvel Legends or the, the Marvel Universe figures, the 3 3/4, and I’m not looking at them anymore. And a bunch of them fell, and I’m like, it’s been 2 months, I haven’t even put them back into place. And I’m like, I think it’s time to pack up the Marvel Universe. And, and like, even I should just pack them up on eBay and say, you know, a lot, $100, just buy them all and get rid of them and, and, uh, and then spread out my Marvel Legends and give me some more space. But also I need more space for my Masters because, because we—

Ryan (00:52:04 - 00:52:07): well, we already talked about how many figures you picked up and how many you got pre-ordered.

Ed (00:52:08 - 00:52:14): Well, and I’m really enjoying the, the wrestling figures too, so I have to change a few things around.

Wrestling Figure Announcements

Ryan (00:52:14 - 00:52:20): So, well, speaking of wrestling figures, I did— because it’s WrestleMania weekend, there’s a whole string of wrestling figures announced.

Ed (00:52:20 - 00:52:53): Well, and that’s That’s the cool thing. They were at WWE World in Vegas because they’re at the Vegas Convention Center. Um, and it’s kind of neat that way. I was at the Vegas Convention Center once for a volleyball tournament for the kid, and so they showed shots of it and I’m like, oh, okay. Like, I knew the layout and it’s everything there and a bunch of cool stuff. Like, yeah, they got all the figures, they get the Mattel store, plus Cody showed up dressed as Guile promoting Street Fighter.

Ryan (00:52:54 - 00:52:55): I like this.

Ed (00:52:55 - 00:53:19): Just a reminder, Roman Reigns is in that movie too, and Roman Reigns didn’t show up to promote it. But the fact that Cody shows up in full Guile— yeah, like, there’s a reason why Cody Rhodes is QB1. And all the people who hate Cody, or Cody’s got to turn, turn heel because, oh no— Cody is doing what Cody needs to do. This is what wrestling needs.

Ryan (00:53:20 - 00:53:20): Yep.

Ed (00:53:20 - 00:53:40): And in 10 years, when he goes to retire and goes into the Hall of Fame, everyone’s going to go, oh my God, Cody was the best. Because guess what? Cody is one of the best. He is there to promote wrestling as a business, promoted as a sport. And the fact that he’s all in, like, I just, I just—

Ryan (00:53:40 - 00:53:41): he’s putting in the work.

Ed (00:53:41 - 00:53:42): I have—

Ryan (00:53:42 - 00:53:44): you can’t really— you can’t say much more than that.

Ed (00:53:44 - 00:53:57): Cody’s my favorite. I have so much respect for Cody. And even when I met him years ago, and that was one of the things I said to him, like, man, I am so proud that you’ve gone out on your own because I liked him the day he came into wrestling.

Ryan (00:53:57 - 00:53:58): Yeah.

Ed (00:53:58 - 00:54:20): And when he went on his own to forge his own path and become the American Nightmare, I told him. And yeah, he’s like one of the nicest people I met in wrestling. Um, and he’s my favorite. And yeah, so anyways, sorry, another one of my rants. We don’t have a lot of stuff to talk about, so I’m just gonna do hot takes today.

Ryan (00:54:20 - 00:54:44): Uh, okay, so I didn’t put all the whole list of wrestling figures because we don’t collect them all. Yeah, but I picked it, you know, the ones that I figured we were interested in. So from the new lot wave of Mattel, uh, LJNs I miswrote. I put it typed as JLN, so that’s not right. LJN. So the new wave is Jake the Snake Roberts.

Ed (00:54:45 - 00:54:45): Yes.

Ryan (00:54:45 - 00:54:51): Jelly Roll, which I’m sure he’s got to be loving that. He’s a big fan of wrestling.

Ed (00:54:51 - 00:54:55): So yeah, and they’re also coming out with an Elite Series Jelly Roll too. So there you go.

Ryan (00:54:56 - 00:55:00): Um, The Rock and Rowdy Roddy Piper.

Ed (00:55:01 - 00:55:06): When I said earlier, I’ve got one on pre-order because I do not want to miss out on Jake or Roddy.

Ryan (00:55:06 - 00:55:06): Yep.

Ed (00:55:08 - 00:55:10): Jake was already sold out on Target.

Ryan (00:55:10 - 00:55:21): I’ll see, when you said you pre-ordered one and you missed out on one, I couldn’t— I figured, well, I assumed you wanted Rowdy. I didn’t know about Jake, so I thought—

Ed (00:55:21 - 00:55:41): so I got, I got Rowdy. I got Rowdy. It was $6 to ship it to the office, and I’m like, yeah, $6 saves me a lot of gas and driving around. Um, Jake I want Jake. Um, I’m just hoping I can find him somewhere when he hits retail. I hope it’s the same as up here, like it just shows up.

Ryan (00:55:42 - 00:55:43): I hope I actually get them.

Ed (00:55:43 - 00:56:43): Yeah, I hope some of the LJNs show up at Walmart because I will take a Jake. Um, Jelly Jam, couldn’t care less about. Um, yeah, after Dan Housen called him Jelly Jam, I can’t think of any of— I liked his music. Yeah, I can’t stand him anymore. Like, I think it’s pretentious. I think it’s him being inserted on all this. Yeah, great, I love the fact that you’re a fan and you worked at it. Get the hell off the screen. I don’t want to see this. I don’t want to see you in the Cody-Randy feud. Um, just no, go away. I thought it was all going to be Kit Wilson versus Jelly Jam at WrestleMania because that’s what it was looking like. And it was all sudden, it was like, nope, they’re taking Jelly Jam and putting him— they’re jamming him into the Cody Rhodes storyline. And, and, uh, yeah, as soon as Danhausen called him Jelly Jam, I’m like, oh, that was bad because now I can’t—

Ryan (00:56:44 - 00:56:45): now you can’t unhear—

Ed (00:56:45 - 00:56:51): I can’t unhear that. Um, okay, what else did you have on moving along?

Ryan (00:56:51 - 00:57:00): Uh, so there’s a new, uh, wave of the Masters of the WWE Universe figures, which I guess Brent said he was—

Ed (00:57:00 - 00:57:04): he thought— when Brent said, I thought this whole series was done and they’re dragging it back in again.

Ryan (00:57:05 - 00:57:20): So he has notoriously been looking for the— well, before this, the last wave, because it had like Bret Hart and Sergeant Slaughter in He-Man gear, right? We never saw it this side of the border.

Ed (00:57:20 - 00:57:22): I’ve never seen it anywhere. I didn’t even see it that side of the border.

Ryan (00:57:23 - 00:57:32): He is— I think there’s a guy down in Southern Ontario that has them for sale, but like Brent told me, he’s like, I have a hard time paying $80 each.

Ed (00:57:32 - 00:57:32): Yeah.

Ryan (00:57:33 - 00:57:43): And I told him, dude, if you told me you were paying $80 each for these things, I would check your head. I would be like, dude, you don’t pay $80 each for these Restahemian Wrestling figures.

Ed (00:57:43 - 00:57:48): I do want the Sergeant Slaughter. Because like going—

Ryan (00:57:48 - 00:57:49): something is cool.

Ed (00:57:50 - 00:58:14): Well, he comes with Man-at-Arms gear, Man-at-Arms gear done up in army green, but he also has the hat. Yeah, so it’s like the Man-at-Arms like, um, chest or like chest piece and like the face guard and like the, the armor, but he still comes with the hat and it’s like I, I want it But yeah, same thing, like, he— it was not shown anywhere.

Ryan (00:58:15 - 00:58:25): Uh, so this new wave, there is a Fright Zone ring that has Kevin Nash and Scott Hall. This is a Walmart exclusive.

Ed (00:58:25 - 00:58:29): Yes, but they also have the piece that they can become Too Bad.

Ryan (00:58:29 - 00:58:34): Well, exactly. Yeah, so you get two figures and then you can— or you can do them as Too Bad, which I thought was hilarious.

Ed (00:58:34 - 00:58:34): Yeah.

Ryan (00:58:35 - 00:58:46): Uh, then there’s also— so Wave 9 has Cody Rhodes as heroic finisher of stories. Yeah, so it’s He-Man Cody.

Ed (00:58:46 - 00:58:55): Uh, it’s He-Man Cody, but the armor looks like it’s the, uh, the battle damaged— yeah, the battle damaged armor.

Ryan (00:58:56 - 00:58:57): We got battle armor He-Man.

Ed (00:58:57 - 00:59:00): Yeah, so yeah, I’m gonna need Cody.

Ryan (00:59:01 - 00:59:06): Uh, Hollywood Hulk Hogan Evil Emperor of the HWO.

Ed (00:59:08 - 00:59:15): So it’s Hordak gear. Yeah, Hulk Hogan World Order. Yeah, so I need, I need that one.

Ryan (00:59:15 - 00:59:21): Yep. Uh, Bray Wyatt as Prince of the Firefly Funhouse.

Ed (00:59:21 - 00:59:48): That one I couldn’t get. I’m like, because it’s just straight up, it’s just straight up Prince Adam with, with Bray Wyatt’s head. Bray Wyatt’s head. But then it started making sense because they did a Fiend already. No, but also when Bray Wyatt at that point was wearing the, the, like, the sweater. Yeah, so like it matches, but I’m like, yeah, I, I, yeah, that one was a, that one was a stretch for me, brother.

Ryan (00:59:49 - 00:59:55): Yeah. And then Shawn Michaels, Heroic Heartbreak Kid, uh, which is fun. It’s Shawn Michaels in bow gear.

Ed (00:59:57 - 01:00:00): Which I can’t— that doesn’t make sense to me.

Ryan (01:00:00 - 01:00:03): But it has the heart on it, so at least that part works.

Ed (01:00:05 - 01:00:13): Okay. Yeah, yeah, Bo had the heart, so he’s the Heartbreak Kid. Yeah. Oh, and plus the gear is all blue, and Shawn Michaels didn’t wear a lot of blue.

Ryan (01:00:13 - 01:00:16): Yeah, the color was weird. Yeah, it’s He-Man gear.

Ed (01:00:16 - 01:00:33): So the, the Cody is the one I’m excited for. And Cody could have been like— okay, here’s the thing. If they came out with Roman Reigns, why don’t they give Roman Reigns the Fisto gear? Yeah, then he’d be like a Superman punch.

Ryan (01:00:34 - 01:00:36): Well, have they not already done it?

Ed (01:00:36 - 01:00:38): I think they did do a Roman Reigns. I didn’t pay attention.

Ryan (01:00:38 - 01:00:39): Yeah, yeah.

Ed (01:00:40 - 01:00:53): When it comes down to the WWE ones, like, the only ones I got was Mr. T because that was awesome. Yeah, because it’s Mr. T. And I, I end up finding the Ultimate Warrior But also, those figures I don’t put with my wrestling. I put them in—

Ryan (01:00:53 - 01:01:01): they go with those Origin He-Man figures. That’s where they belong. Cody might go on the Cody shelf though, because that means you might just have to buy two.

Ed (01:01:01 - 01:01:02): No, no, I’ll just buy one.

Ryan (01:01:03 - 01:01:08): Um, so NECA, when we jump into there, uh, they already started—

Ed (01:01:08 - 01:01:10): oh, sorry, one more for wrestling.

Ryan (01:01:10 - 01:01:10): Yep.

Ed (01:01:11 - 01:01:21): Um, I think it’s awesome they’re coming out with a WWE Elite Series Saturday Night’s Main Event. It’s going to be a Walmart exclusive.

Ryan (01:01:22 - 01:01:22): Okay.

Ed (01:01:22 - 01:01:37): The card is going to be Saturday Night Main Event colors, so like the neon. Um, it’s coming out with, uh, it’s going to be the first series is Hulk Hogan, Hillbilly Jim, which I’m kind of excited for.

Ryan (01:01:38 - 01:01:38): Yeah.

Ed (01:01:38 - 01:01:40): CM Punk and Jey Uso.

Ryan (01:01:41 - 01:01:41): Okay.

Ed (01:01:41 - 01:01:50): And it’s the Jey Uso gear from the San Antonio when it was, uh, the Saturday night main event where it was Jey Uso versus, uh, Gunther.

Ryan (01:01:51 - 01:01:51): Okay.

Ed (01:01:52 - 01:02:05): Um, and yeah, like, the— I’m excited for that one because the card art looks awesome. Uh, but that’s gonna be a Walmart exclusive. So that’s the other that they showed for wrestling. Um, oh, there was a whole list of them when I went online. Oh yeah.

Ryan (01:02:05 - 01:02:09): And the other one I’m excited for, there’s like a 3-pack from Bash at the Beach.

Ed (01:02:09 - 01:02:15): Yeah. Yeah, that’s Hogan, Nash. Yeah, yeah, I got it. I gotta get that one.

Ryan (01:02:15 - 01:02:32): The thing I liked about that, in the one picture you see all this stuff on the— there’s like pop cans and popcorn and garbage all around them on the ground. I was like, oh, okay, that’s nice for the photo. I wonder if that’s part of the set. And it didn’t— we see the box, that’s all— it’s part of the set. There’s a bunch of like drinks and yeah, stuff.

Ed (01:02:33 - 01:02:33): Like, I’m—

Ryan (01:02:33 - 01:02:34): that was when they got all the gear, all the—

Ed (01:02:34 - 01:02:44): that one I mean because that’s one of the greatest moments in wrestling. And yeah, I gotta have that one because also Hall and Nash’s gear was great on that one.

Ryan (01:02:44 - 01:02:44): Yeah.

Ed (01:02:44 - 01:03:01): And then you get Hogan, ‘You call this the New World Order of wrestling, brother?’ And yeah, I gotta get that one. So that one’s going to be one of those 3-packs that are normally pretty expensive, but I’m like, I’m buying it. All right, so I think that’s it for wrestling. Yeah.

Ryan (01:03:02 - 01:03:04): Until we get interrupted by wrestling again.

Ed (01:03:04 - 01:03:07): Yeah, so next is WrestleMania weekend, for Pete’s sakes.

Ryan (01:03:09 - 01:03:27): So NECA has already started announcing their con exclusives. Yep, for this summer. Uh, there’s some new Ben Cooper kids costumes. This one is a glow-in-the-dark mummy. There’s a DC Comics 8-inch clothed Batman, which is like a cloth—

Ed (01:03:27 - 01:03:27): okay.

Collectibles, Role Play, Star Wars, and Playsets

Ryan (01:03:28 - 01:04:02): Figure and the 2012 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles figures that they did, but this time in like black and white sketch variant versions. Okay, I’m holding back a sneeze, sorry. Um, and it comes with a bunch of other cool accessories that will fit the colored versions. Okay, so other heads and hands and gear and stuff like that. Um, Okay, He-Man announcements. Yep, a bunch of stuff. So we got the 6.5-inch Movie Chronicle line.

Ed (01:04:02 - 01:04:02): Yep.

Ryan (01:04:03 - 01:04:24): And then that— they’re giving us a 2-pack of Ram-Man and Fisto. We already talked about the first wave last month. In the Core Collection, which is the 5.5-inch line, It’s a 4-pack of He-Man, Man-at-Arms, Skeletor, and Goat Man.

Ed (01:04:25 - 01:04:38): Now this is an exclusive Goat Man figure, um, and that I believe is available for pre-order on Amazon. Okay, because I ordered a— I pre-ordered a bunch of stuff. Yeah.

Ryan (01:04:38 - 01:05:00): And then in the First Ones Origins Core line, there’s a He-Man Spycore the Fright Fighter vehicle. Yeah, there’s that. And then from the MOTU Chronicles, regular Chronicles line, uh, King Grayskull. That one looked pretty good.

Ed (01:05:02 - 01:05:03): Yeah, that one.

Ryan (01:05:04 - 01:05:07): Yeah, that one’s in the same packaging as that Scare Glow.

Ed (01:05:07 - 01:05:17): And the other thing that was available for pre-order as well is the 27-inch roleplay Power Sword.

Ryan (01:05:19 - 01:05:22): Oh, see, I hadn’t seen that was actually available or posted anywhere yet.

Ed (01:05:22 - 01:05:26): So $50 on Amazon, that’s not bad. And that’s direct from the Masters of the Universe store.

Ryan (01:05:26 - 01:05:26): Okay.

Ed (01:05:27 - 01:05:35): And it has sold out a lot of other places. So when I saw it, I’m like, you know what, yeah, I’d take the Sword of Power.

Ryan (01:05:36 - 01:06:28): Yeah. Have you seen— since we’re on the He-Man topic, from CinemaCon, the popcorn buckets for this movie. Yeah, but the— between the— well, even just the regular fancy glasses, there’s a like a Skeletor head one that looked really good. But the Castle Grayskull popcorn bucket with the removable turret that’s a cup, that one looked cool. But the power sword drinking Yep, like, and both of those are apparently they’re open market, so they should be, you know, so in theory, um, Cineplex might have them. So it was one of those things, I know Brent and I have already told each other, it’s like, okay, cool, uh, so whoever gets there first and finds one has to buy two.

Ed (01:06:28 - 01:06:38): Yeah, well, I don’t have a lot of space for all the popcorn buckets. Like the last popcorn bucket I got was Top Gun.

Ryan (01:06:39 - 01:06:40): Oh, what was the Top Gun one?

Ed (01:06:40 - 01:06:42): It was just a popcorn bucket with Maverick’s helmet on top.

Ryan (01:06:43 - 01:06:43): Okay.

Ed (01:06:44 - 01:06:54): But yeah, the, the detail, the power sword though, the power sword. But I’m looking at the other powers, I’m getting the other power sword from Mattel. So like, I’m like, I’d rather just have that one.

Ryan (01:06:55 - 01:06:55): Yeah.

Ed (01:06:55 - 01:07:02): Um, and I’ve always wanted a power sword. I remember my cousin when he was a kid, he had the two power swords that snapped together.

Ryan (01:07:03 - 01:07:05): Okay, yeah, I didn’t know they had done a—

Ed (01:07:05 - 01:07:21): oh yeah, they were, they were one. Okay, they were play, they were for play, for play. Yeah, so it was two halves and you could snap them together. So him and I would have like, he’d usually have He-Man, I’d have the purple one. Yeah, and you know, we’d fight with each other and just like the toys.

Ryan (01:07:21 - 01:07:42): Yeah, uh, moving along. Okay, we got some Marvel Legends announcements this week. There. So the, uh, Marvel’s Box, I guess. I don’t know this guy. He’s a big metal-looking guy. He’s the BAF. I think he might be from, uh, Alpha Flight.

Ed (01:07:44 - 01:08:01): I have no idea because in the pictures they show, um, like Lady Deadpool comes with the head part. Yeah, and they actually, like, in the picture she’s holding on to the head, so like none of it made sense.

Ryan (01:08:01 - 01:08:22): Yeah, I think she’s just holding it because it’s— but okay, so in this wave there’s a new U.S. Agent from Force Works. Okay, so it is, uh, what’s his name but in a new costume with like a hologram shield and stuff. Uh, Lady Deadpool, uh, Psylocke from the Australian Outback X-Men story.

Ed (01:08:22 - 01:08:22): Yeah.

Ryan (01:08:23 - 01:08:38): Uh, Robbie Reyes, Ghost Rider. Uh, Ultimate Wolverine from the new Ultimate Comics. And Dark Avengers Hawkeye. And then Marvel’s Marina. I think she’s an Alpha Flight person too.

Ed (01:08:39 - 01:08:47): Yeah. And I, you know, it’s funny how the line has been going on so long. I already have the Dark Avengers Hawkeye.

Ryan (01:08:47 - 01:08:49): Yeah, an older version of it.

Ed (01:08:49 - 01:08:53): Yeah, like one of the first versions. And I think it was a build-a-figure thing.

Ryan (01:08:53 - 01:08:54): Yeah. And I—

Ed (01:08:54 - 01:09:02): because I end up pulling his head off and put a Steve Rogers head on it, like a comic book Steve Rogers, so it sort of looked like Hawkeye.

Ryan (01:09:05 - 01:09:10): Uh, they announced a Marvel Rivals wave, so based on the video game.

Ed (01:09:10 - 01:09:10): Yep.

Ryan (01:09:11 - 01:09:39): There’s a cool-looking Moon Knight. A big beefy Punisher. There’s a Venom and Jeff the Land Shark 2-pack, if you want to call that a 2-pack. And then a Spider-Man and Luna Snow, who was a new character they made for the game. Okay, that 2-pack. And then the pièce de résistance, the new premium roleplay prop from X-Men ‘97, a Cyclops visor.

Ed (01:09:40 - 01:09:43): Yes, um, because it looks like it lights up.

Ryan (01:09:44 - 01:09:46): Looks like it takes batteries, so it must have lights and maybe some—

Ed (01:09:46 - 01:10:07): there’s been some people say that it kind of looks goofy and too big, so I don’t know. I, I don’t— I’d have to see it to see if it looks good, because if it lights up, it’d be neat to add to my X-Men ‘97 cosplay, but then my X-Men ‘97 is pretty good anyways. Because the one I 3D printed.

Ryan (01:10:07 - 01:10:07): Yep.

Ed (01:10:07 - 01:10:23): Um, speaking of Premium Role Play, uh, Mattel Creations, they also have for pre-order the Premium Role Play Havok Staff from the Masters of the Universe movie.

Ryan (01:10:23 - 01:10:24): I saw that, and it’s got like—

Ed (01:10:25 - 01:11:02): you can put liquid smoke in it and stuff like that, and it’s like $168 US, so that is way too expensive. Of. Yeah, I don’t know. It’s— oh man, I’d love to have it. But anyways, um, I don’t know if Ryan’s going to edit this part out or not, or if he’s going to keep this in, because, uh, he had to step away from the microphone for a second And now— oh look, he’s back!

Ryan (01:11:02 - 01:11:10): You didn’t have to tell them. You’re ruining the— you’re breaking the fourth wall here. You’re giving away your secrets. I told you, you just gave me the vamp sign.

Ed (01:11:11 - 01:11:14): Well, you gave me the vamp sign and I went blank. I don’t know what to talk about.

Ryan (01:11:15 - 01:11:18): But, um, yeah, that Havok staff looks cool.

Ed (01:11:18 - 01:11:18): Yeah.

Ryan (01:11:19 - 01:11:29): So, um, one Star Wars announcement. There’s a new 2-pack. From the Knights of the Old Republic.

Ed (01:11:29 - 01:11:29): Yep.

Ryan (01:11:30 - 01:11:37): And it’s Darth Nihilus, which we’ve already had before, but this one is a— it’s got— it’s built on the new updated Anakin body.

Ed (01:11:37 - 01:11:37): Yep.

Ryan (01:11:39 - 01:12:00): And with Darth Traya, Traya, Traya, one of the bad guys, a woman. She’s the blind Sith that, you know, when she would control her lightsabers with the Force. And so like it comes with these little clear plastic stands that can like hold lightsabers. Now there’s probably passing on that.

Ed (01:12:01 - 01:12:31): There’s not much from Star Wars I want anymore, so yep, like I figure after I kind of rounded out my Mandalorian collection— I did see the new White Series or white boxed Mandalorian first release or whatever. Yeah, I’m like, no, I’m good. I got a Grogu, I Mando. I’ve got several different versions of Mando. Yeah, I got Boba. I’m like, I got Gideon. Yeah, I’m good, I’m good. Don’t need more.

Ryan (01:12:31 - 01:12:49): Uh, so we had a big pre-order announcement from Hasbro this week too, and you’ve ordered— I think you ordered it— the Tron Legacy figures. Yes, the ones that were shown off at Toy Fair as, uh, not final, uh, you know, waiting vendor approval type stuff.

Ed (01:12:50 - 01:12:58): Yeah, so you can get a Flynn, a Clu, a Rinzler, and a Korra in a 4-pack.

Ryan (01:12:59 - 01:12:59): Yep.

Ed (01:12:59 - 01:13:01): And then you get the light cycle with Sam.

Ryan (01:13:01 - 01:13:01): Yes.

Ed (01:13:03 - 01:13:05): And I keep forgetting that Rinzler was Tron.

Ryan (01:13:06 - 01:13:14): Yeah, uh, a little pricey for my— for me, so I mean, I’m passing on these. But, uh, well, they look cool.

Ed (01:13:15 - 01:13:38): No, they look cool, and I pre-ordered them because it’s like probably the only Tron thing we’re ever going to get. Yeah, I still wish that they came out with like ‘82. I wish they came out with like a, you know, Grid Series or whatever they want to call their, their figures, because like the only other ones you can get are Diamond Select, and those are tough to find.

Ryan (01:13:38 - 01:13:41): Oh yeah, now the Diamond’s gone. Those are gone too.

Ed (01:13:41 - 01:13:41): Yeah.

Ryan (01:13:42 - 01:14:18): Uh, and then last but not least on my list, I figured I’d add these because they were interesting, uh, from The Cell. You know that Star Trek line that they’ve been kind of piecing out? So they have announced a Star Trek: The Original Series collectibles wave or line, and one is, uh, it’s gonna be Dr. Leonard Bones McCoy with a biobed. So like a whole piece of the Medical Bay. And then they’re doing a turbolift, so like a little playset piece, and it’s going to be part— I guess they’re going to be doing a Build a Bridge release.

Ed (01:14:19 - 01:14:39): Well, the Bones looks really good. Yeah, like the sculpt on his head, like it was a— and Bones is my favorite Star Trek character, so I’m like good with that. I really love DeForest Kelly. But, you know, again, same thing. Do you go down that rabbit hole?

Ryan (01:14:40 - 01:14:47): Exactly. I find it interesting that someone is finally doing— like, since they don’t— nobody’s put out these large playsets anymore.

Ed (01:14:48 - 01:14:48): Yeah.

Ryan (01:14:48 - 01:15:26): But like a build-a-bridge, uh, and from what I saw with the— in this turbolift, that’s where the, uh, the plaque for the ship name plaque is on the wall that by this, and it comes with like 4 different ones, so you could have it be a different, you know, the bridge of a different ship if you wanted. But, uh, you know, I like a good diorama. Yeah, you know, like the rooftop Ghostbusters display is great. It’s big and it’s hard to move around and find space for, but it’s still great. I’m happy to have it. Yeah, so yeah, getting these kind of displays is like, it’s a nice way to be able to display your toys.

Ed (01:15:26 - 01:15:45): Yep. Well, same like when it— like the Batman ‘66 series, like, because I had the Batcave and I had the Villains Lair, and then they came out with the Wayne Manor and it was like, oh, but it’s like, no, I’m good. Like, if I did get the Wayne Manor, then I’d put all the old Mattel ‘66—

Ryan (01:15:46 - 01:15:50): yeah, in that one— figures in it, and then you’d have to put it so it’s on the shelf above the Batcave.

Ed (01:15:51 - 01:15:51): Yeah.

Ryan (01:15:52 - 01:15:53): Yeah, for continuity.

Ed (01:15:53 - 01:16:16): But anyways, well, that’s all the news that we had and the news that was news. Yeah, so we will— well, we wrap this up because we’re— as we’re doing WrestleMania rewatch, uh, Seth Rollins is taking on, on, uh, Gunther, and we’re getting closer to Cody versus Randy. And my stomach’s been rumbling.

Ryan (01:16:16 - 01:16:16): I need to go have some lunch.

Closing and Socials

Ed (01:16:17 - 01:16:29): Yeah, and I won’t be in a talking mood once Cody hits some the ring. So, all right, Ryan, where can people find you? Well, except for in a restaurant, because you were gonna go find something to eat. Where can people find you if they ain’t finding you here?

Ryan (01:16:29 - 01:16:45): If you ain’t finding me here, well, then you can find me on our Instagram feed, @talesfromcollectiverse, where you and I both post pictures of all the new stuff we buy. You’ve been posting some really cool shots of your toy hunts, or like what you spotted while you’re out and about.

Ed (01:16:45 - 01:16:45): Yep.

Ryan (01:16:46 - 01:17:02): I’ve been really enjoying those. So that’s, uh, you know, we have fun with it. We post some fun stuff. I’ll take pictures with some of my toys or, or my, you know, beverages. You know, me and Godzilla were thirsty the other night, so yeah, when I found that 6-pack of Godzilla beer for you.

Ed (01:17:02 - 01:17:09): Yeah, I did find a 30-pack of the Godzilla beer, so I might have to— if you’re needing a little bit more, I might have to go that route.

Ryan (01:17:09 - 01:17:12): Oh, there you go. Oh, how about yourself, Ed? Where can we find you?

Ed (01:17:13 - 01:17:32): Well, on all social media on Snowhawk Cosplay. But, um, yeah, this episode’s coming out before the weekend. I will be at Calgary Expo, and I’m pitching in and helping Canada Cosplay Cards.

Ryan (01:17:32 - 01:17:36): Okay, you were hanging out with them at Toronto Comic-Con?

Ed (01:17:36 - 01:18:09): Yep. Yeah, I pitched in and helped wherever I could. And anyways, I’m going to be out in Alberta for business anyways, and just sort of wound up that, uh, yeah, they said I could chill out and hang out at the booth and help out where I can. So if you happen to be a listener in Calgary, uh, come by the Canadian Cosplay Cards booth and I will do this deal for you. If you show up, I will pay for you to get a card.

Ryan (01:18:09 - 01:18:12): Oh, it’s good to mention that you heard this on this podcast.

Ed (01:18:12 - 01:18:44): Yeah, if you— sure, yeah, you come and say that, you know, I heard this on Tales from Collectiverse, I want a card, and I will pay— Ed will pay for it, and I will pay for your card because you can get a pack of 10 of cosplay cards or just photo cards. You don’t even have to be in cosplay. And it’s $10. Nice. And I will pay for your card. So, and I will limit it to, I will limit it to 10 people. Wow. So I will pay up to $100.

Ryan (01:18:46 - 01:18:47): There you go.

Ed (01:18:47 - 01:18:52): So 10 people, you want a card, I will pay for it at Calgary Expo 2026.

Ryan (01:18:53 - 01:18:53): There you go.

Ed (01:18:53 - 01:19:03): So that’s, that’s limited to 10 people. And I will pay for your card for you if you listen to Tales from Collectiverse. That is a gift from me to y’all.

Ryan (01:19:03 - 01:19:14): You have to come up and talk to them about it, say you heard it here. Yep. And if you can bring it up on your phone and say, hey, see, look at it, I listened, it’s on my app, I listened, I didn’t just hear this from somebody.

Ed (01:19:14 - 01:19:17): First 10, first served.

Ryan (01:19:17 - 01:19:17): There you go.

Ed (01:19:18 - 01:19:25): And anyways, and that, I’m looking forward to that. And I hadn’t been to Calgary Expo in 3 years, so it was—

Ryan (01:19:26 - 01:19:26): it been that long? Yeah.

Ed (01:19:27 - 01:19:35): Okay. Yeah, it was 2023 was the last time I was in Calgary when I was working at the eBay booth and got to meet, uh, David Harbour. So that was pretty cool.

Ryan (01:19:36 - 01:19:36): Nice.

Ed (01:19:36 - 01:19:56): Anyways, uh, thank you all for listening and hope you enjoy the summer. And we got a bunch of cool toys coming out, um, because new releases, especially with Masters and WWE and GI Joe and all that good stuff. And speaking about our other friends, we’ll let Rex hit the outro.
