Rex (00:00:16 - 00:00:19): He’s mint in the box! Never open!
Rex (00:00:19 - 00:00:30): Once you open the box, it loses its value. You removed it from its original packaging! But the sign said there was a mint in the box. It’s no longer a collectible! Where does he get those wonderful toys?
Welcome and Live Studio Audience
Rex (00:00:32 - 00:00:47): And now here are your hosts, Ryan Parent and Ed Campbell. Welcome everyone to Tales from Collectiverse, Season 6, Episode 5, the May issue. May the 4th be with you.
Ryan (00:00:47 - 00:00:48): May the 4th be with you.
Ed (00:00:48 - 00:00:51): No, I guess we can’t say that. That’s trademarked by somebody else.
Ryan (00:00:51 - 00:00:54): May the 24th be with you.
Ed (00:00:54 - 00:00:58): May the Collectiverse be with you. Ha! Trademark that, guys.
Ryan (00:00:58 - 00:00:58): There you go.
Ed (00:00:58 - 00:01:03): I’m Ed. And with me is Ryan. Ryan, how are you, Ryan?
Ryan (00:01:03 - 00:01:05): I’m doing good. How you doing, Ed?
Ed (00:01:05 - 00:01:09): Good. And today we actually have a live studio audience.
Ryan (00:01:09 - 00:01:15): Yes, it’s very live. I don’t know if that got picked up at all or not.
Ed (00:01:15 - 00:01:16): Maybe.
Ryan (00:01:16 - 00:01:17): I don’t know. It might be.
Ed (00:01:18 - 00:01:29): So you might hear some giggling in the background. That’s my kid Ryan, who’s come back from university. He’s, he’s, uh, coming with us because we’re gonna eat after this one.
Ryan (00:01:30 - 00:01:48): Yeah, so can’t call him Little Ryan. Uh, yeah, Brent was talking to me the other day after you guys were at the shop. He’s like, so what do we, what do we call Ryan now? We can’t call him Little Ryan anymore, he’s, he’s kind of tall now. Yeah, well, so I just said you can just— I’m OG Ryan, I don’t care what you call him. I’m the original, I was here first.
Ed (00:01:49 - 00:01:56): Yeah, I guess you could be OG. You could be OG. Well, I’ve known him longer, so maybe he’s OG Ryan to me, and you be other Ryan.
Ryan (00:01:56 - 00:02:03): I’ve been around a lot longer than him. He can— we can refer to him as Young Ryan. I don’t care if I’m Old Ryan.
Ed (00:02:03 - 00:02:10): You’re Old Ryan? Well, okay, Old Ryan. Vintage Ryan. Vintage Ryan. There we go. Mint in the box Ryan.
Ryan (00:02:10 - 00:02:12): Oh, I’m far from mint in the box.
Ed (00:02:13 - 00:02:17): Well, how about you go through your list first for Six Figures this month?
Six Figures This Month: Ryan’s Pickups
Ryan (00:02:17 - 00:02:22): Oh yeah. Oh yeah, that’s a whole different list that I had the news up. I forgot to do my toys first.
Ed (00:02:22 - 00:02:26): No, we got to talk about what we bought first before we start talking about what’s coming out.
Ryan (00:02:26 - 00:02:40): Yes. So since we last recorded, yes, uh, on the G.I. Joe front, my Zanya— Zanya, Zanya, tomato, tomato— uh, with the Swamp Ski—
Ed (00:02:40 - 00:02:41): Swamp Skier—
Ryan (00:02:41 - 00:02:42): is it skier? Oh, sorry.
Ed (00:02:42 - 00:02:45): Also, it’s called the Chameleon. Is what it’s—
Ryan (00:02:45 - 00:02:46): is that what it’s really called?
Ed (00:02:46 - 00:02:50): It has two names. It’s called the Chameleon Swamp Skier.
Ryan (00:02:50 - 00:02:55): Okay, uh, well, either way, that came in, pre-order event showed up, it was great.
Ed (00:02:55 - 00:03:06): Uh, I’m just really excited. Well, I guess— well, I might as well add it to you now because I’m going to talk about— because I got to, um, because she’s one of the Devil’s Due characters.
Ryan (00:03:07 - 00:03:11): Okay, so she appeared in the comics in that comic run before anything else?
Ed (00:03:11 - 00:03:11): Okay. Yeah.
Ryan (00:03:11 - 00:03:19): And so was it the Devil’s do comics, or was it— did they do Real American Hero at all, or just— okay, so it was in their run of Real American Hero.
Ed (00:03:19 - 00:03:29): So Josh Blaylock wrote it, but it was the continue— it was their continuation of 155 without Larry Hama.
Ryan (00:03:29 - 00:03:30): Okay.
Ed (00:03:30 - 00:03:39): And but they actually took a lot of stuff, like, like Hawk. So for a little bit there, they lost the license to the name General Hawk.
Ryan (00:03:39 - 00:03:40): Okay.
Ed (00:03:40 - 00:03:46): So that’s why they in the early 2000s, they called him General Tomahawk. Okay. And then when—
Ryan (00:03:46 - 00:03:47): was it Tom Ahawk?
Ed (00:03:47 - 00:03:48): No, Tomahawk.
Ryan (00:03:48 - 00:03:51): Okay. Be funnier if his name was Tom Ahawk.
Ed (00:03:51 - 00:04:26): No, his real name’s Clayton Abernathy, but I know a lot about General Hawk because he’s my favorite character of all time. Anyways, um, they actually reference it in the comic book. Okay. He says, I’m General Hawk, but some of you might call me Tomahawk, which I thought it was funny. And then Kamakura is standing there, and he walked— and he walked up, and he’s like, ‘Look, this is a serious military operation. I don’t need people dressed up like Power Rangers.’ Which is also funny too, because Power Rangers helped the decline of G.I. Joe as an action figure. Okay. So I, I haven’t—
Ryan (00:04:26 - 00:04:31): was that around the same time as the first live-action movie, or was that before?
Ed (00:04:31 - 00:04:40): Well, no. So this comic book came out, um, actually The G.I. Joe comic book came out a week before 9/11.
Ryan (00:04:40 - 00:04:47): Oh, okay. Because I was just thinking, if, you know, with the whole power suits they wore in that movie, if there was a shot at them for that movie.
Ed (00:04:48 - 00:05:01): No, it’s, uh, because yeah, it was really funny. I, I, like, the day that the new G.I. Joe dropped, I was at the comic book shop in, in Calgary waiting for it.
Ryan (00:05:01 - 00:05:02): Nice.
Ed (00:05:02 - 00:05:05): Because I was like Yeah, I’m, I’m all right.
Ryan (00:05:05 - 00:05:06): I’m all right.
Ed (00:05:06 - 00:05:44): And, uh, so yeah, just the fact that they brought Zanya in and she’s Zartan’s daughter and, and great looking figure. And we got, uh, um, Lady Armada coming later and she’s from Devil’s Due. So I’m like, man, are they going to give us an Alexander Destro? Because like the fact that they’re going for that run, yeah, I think it’s cool because there was some really great characters. Well, this one, and like Hannibal showing Uh, because there’s Hannibal Rising, which it was this guy named Hannibal and he ends up being the clone of Serpentor. Okay, so that’s a— that was a cool storyline too.
Ryan (00:05:44 - 00:05:49): So anyways, well, they have been showing that they’re not afraid to pull from everything.
Ed (00:05:49 - 00:05:54): Well, maybe, maybe with all the key people of G.I. Joe gone.
Ryan (00:05:55 - 00:05:58): Well, we’ll get into that in the news, but we’ll have a whole discussion about that.
Ed (00:05:58 - 00:06:00): Yo-Jo June’s gonna be interesting.
Ryan (00:06:00 - 00:06:28): Yep. Uh, okay, so yeah, she came in, she’s great. Uh, so I happened to be at, obviously at EB Games picking that up and felt like having some retail therapy. I think it was a long week. And, uh, they had Studio Series ‘86 Optimus Prime with battle damage. And I looked at it, and I looked at it, and then I picked it up. And that was the mistake I put— once it was in my hands, then it’s not going back. So I—
Ed (00:06:28 - 00:06:29): well, did you have gift cards?
Ryan (00:06:30 - 00:06:32): Uh, I might have used a gift card.
Ed (00:06:32 - 00:06:35): Well, if it’s gift cards, then it’s nerd math, it was free.
Ryan (00:06:35 - 00:06:50): Yeah, it wasn’t full, full free gift cards, but it helped. Yeah. Uh, but yep, so I picked that up because I love that, that cartoon was great, that movie’s awesome. So that— and now, now I have to find the, the battle-damaged Megatron to go with it.
Ed (00:06:50 - 00:06:59): Um, speaking of that, did you add the news about the The new, the new music coming.
Ryan (00:06:59 - 00:08:17): Oh yes, that’s in the news. Yeah, yes, the soundtrack re-release is in the news. Um, spoiler. Yeah, they don’t know for what though. Uh, so I picked that up. I picked up, uh, well, actually was gifted to me as, you know, as a wonderful gift. Um, the boss over at the comic shop on Free Comic Book Day. Yes. Uh, we took out Near the end of the day, we’ve joked about giving Brent— we had an out-of-box, uh, early Hasbro, uh, Star Wars Black Series Darth Vader lightsaber. Thought about giving it to Brent to use outside to direct traffic, but it’s in the daylight, the blade, you don’t really see it when it’s lit too well. Yeah. And then so we wouldn’t put it away, and as I said, I just kind of said to Mark, I was like, so I see you have an open— because we have one in box too. Oh, there was an an open Darth Vader lightsaber back there. He’s like, I’m like, I know I don’t have a Darth Vader lightsaber at home. And then I also said, then I looked at John and I said, I don’t need to buy one, I’ve got enough lightsabers. But what are we gonna be pricing that at? And then he’s like, do you want it? I’m like, uh, well, I was like, no, you can have it, like you can take it home. Do you want it? I’m like, yes, because a free lightsaber It’s a free lightsaber.
Ed (00:08:17 - 00:08:19): Yeah, free lightsaber is better than no lightsaber.
Ryan (00:08:20 - 00:08:23): Exactly. So now I’ve got another lightsaber in the collection. Another one?
Ed (00:08:24 - 00:08:25): Yes. So how many have you got now?
Ryan (00:08:26 - 00:08:32): 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7. So—
Ed (00:08:32 - 00:08:35): oh no, Darth Maul’s on.
Ryan (00:08:35 - 00:08:39): Does that count as one or two? That could be 8 because it’s double-sided, it comes apart.
Ed (00:08:39 - 00:08:40): Yeah, it’s one.
Ryan (00:08:41 - 00:08:55): Okay, so then yeah, 2 Darth Maul carries one, so there you go. Yep. Uh, so I got that and then, uh, found the G.I. Joe Action Figure— Action Soldier Special Forces figure.
Ed (00:08:55 - 00:08:56): Huh?
Ryan (00:08:56 - 00:09:02): That’s what it’s called. G.I. Joe Action Soldier Special Forces. Oh, Special Forces guy.
Ed (00:09:02 - 00:09:03): Yeah.
Ryan (00:09:03 - 00:09:24): Okay, so it was never available for pre-order through EB— through GameStop. Oh, you’d be sorry. Uh, anywhere. It just— they showed up in the store and the staff there know that I’m collecting them. She said she got a bunch of— she’s got these, you know, all these things sent to her and none of her Joe guys had pre-ordered it. So she called everybody that she knows gets Joes from her and asked, do you want one?
Ed (00:09:24 - 00:09:25): Yeah.
Ryan (00:09:25 - 00:09:27): So yes, I said yes.
Ed (00:09:27 - 00:10:21): Yeah, I think out of all the Legacy line, like the 60th anniversary figures, the, the the Special Forces is the best one. Yeah, because he’s the one I would buy more than one, more than one squad. Like, I bought multiples of, uh, Action Pilot. Yep, he’s a good one too, just because I found him at Ollie’s and it’s $12 for sure. And I bought multiples of our Action Marine because they have the two heads, so I made the, I made the one head, um, the, the girl with the ponytail, and then the other one who’s wearing the hat and has the, the headphones on. So because it is like, it’s two different races of the characters as well, so that’s where it’s like, oh, okay, I buy more than one and we got two, two very distinct people.
Ryan (00:10:21 - 00:10:31): Yes. Yeah. Um, so that, that Got, uh, G.I. Joe Classified Ninja Force Zartan, which is also a very nice figure.
Ed (00:10:31 - 00:10:32): I haven’t opened mine yet.
Ryan (00:10:32 - 00:10:36): He’s right there, he’s hanging out on the, on the shelf with the, with the band.
Ed (00:10:36 - 00:10:47): The fact that they’re the Ninja Force stuff is like— and because when the original Ninja Force came out, like in ‘92, they weren’t the highest detail figure.
Ryan (00:10:47 - 00:10:53): No, because they tried doing all this spring-loaded Oh really, they tried to give them the maximum?
Ed (00:10:53 - 00:11:19): Yeah, spring-loaded action. So like they’re building all this stuff inside the figures so that— but like that version of Zartan, I always loved, like with the red mohawk, like the orange mohawk, and, and the— his eye makeup or whatever is, is orange. And yeah, just such a cool design for that figure, and the fact that they captured it all in the classified line.
Ryan (00:11:19 - 00:11:23): Yeah, for sure. And the other Ninja Force figures have been standout figures too.
Ed (00:11:23 - 00:11:25): Oh, Slice and Dice.
Ryan (00:11:25 - 00:11:42): Yeah, Slice and Dice. Um, Budo. Sorry, Budo. Budo was a Ninja Force, but Budo is not Ninja Force. Uh, but the, uh, I didn’t get the 2-pack with, um, uh, it’s a Quick Kick and— or what’s the—
Ed (00:11:42 - 00:11:44): well, that’s the Night Force.
Ryan (00:11:44 - 00:11:45): It was Night Force.
Ed (00:11:45 - 00:11:47): Oh, it was Night Force Quick Kick.
Ryan (00:11:47 - 00:11:48): And I thought they were Ninja Force.
Ed (00:11:48 - 00:11:57): No, that, that was Night Force Quick Kick with Beach Head. Okay, uh, if Jack’s— never mind, Jack is now disappointed at you because he didn’t buy another Beach Head.
Ryan (00:11:58 - 00:11:59): Yeah, I know, I have two.
Ed (00:12:00 - 00:12:01): You don’t have three.
Ryan (00:12:01 - 00:12:02): Nope, I don’t.
Ed (00:12:02 - 00:12:04): You’re still disappointing Jack.
Ryan (00:12:05 - 00:12:09): Um, and then thanks to you, I added another He-Man to my collection.
Ed (00:12:10 - 00:12:11): That sounds like an insult.
Ryan (00:12:12 - 00:12:24): Thanks to you. No, thanks to you. You found it. I haven’t seen them on the shelves anywhere. Uh, I picked up— so you picked up for me the MOTU Chronicles He-Man, and then I found Skeletor.
Ed (00:12:25 - 00:12:27): And then those are—
Ryan (00:12:27 - 00:12:28): they are great.
Ed (00:12:28 - 00:12:38): The Chronicles line is so much better than the Masterverse line. Oh yeah, like, I like the Masterverse line, but the Chronicles, they’re just like Yeah, the detail, the sculpts, the articulation.
Ryan (00:12:38 - 00:13:02): Yeah, if the— no, I’m not— but if the DC Mattel figures have the same articulation scheme as the He-Man Chronicles figures, then they’ll be good sellers. No, they won’t. No, you just don’t think they are? Oh, I saw on Facebook today, because they haven’t shown any pictures of the new—
Ed (00:13:02 - 00:13:03): oh yes, there is.
Ryan (00:13:03 - 00:13:11): There’s the Core line. Oh, is that what the kids collect? Okay, there’s Batman with the big gauntlets fighting Bane.
Ed (00:13:11 - 00:13:23): Yeah, that’s the, uh, no, this is the— this is the DC Collectors line where it’s the first ones is, uh, Robin, Batman, Superman, and Joker.
Ryan (00:13:23 - 00:13:28): No, that’s the kids line. Oh yeah, that’s the first ones for the kids line.
Ed (00:13:29 - 00:13:35): John or John Stewart, Flash, Batman and Superman.
Ryan (00:13:36 - 00:13:41): Uh, that might be the second. That’s all. They haven’t shown off anything from the, uh, the, the—
Ed (00:13:41 - 00:13:44): I saw some stuff today and it was just like, meh.
Ryan (00:13:44 - 00:13:46): Unless it was something just released today, I just—
Ed (00:13:46 - 00:13:56): it’d have to be something so insanely awesome because like I’ve said before, I’m calling it quits.
Ryan (00:13:56 - 00:13:57): Yeah, same.
Ed (00:13:57 - 00:14:04): At McFarlane unless they have a really badass looking Batman and a really good looking Superman.
Ryan (00:14:04 - 00:14:14): Yeah, like there’s no real reason for me to buy any more DC figures. Just like I’ve really slowed down on my Marvel. It’s like sometimes you pick up the odd Spider-Man or something like that.
Ed (00:14:14 - 00:14:16): Otherwise, for me with Marvel, it just comes down to the movie stuff.
Ryan (00:14:17 - 00:14:17): Yeah.
Ed (00:14:17 - 00:14:37): Um, and my Star Wars stuff is like non-existent now. Like like, uh, the new Mando Grogu stuff that I’m like looking at. It was like, yeah, maybe the, the one snowtrooper was like, yeah, that’d be neat. But I’m like, yeah, it was $25, not $40.
Ryan (00:14:37 - 00:14:39): Yeah, no, that’s the other problem.
Ed (00:14:39 - 00:14:58): The figure’s not, you know, like stupidly today, like if somebody found me a Trap Jaw for $65 and just bought it and said, hey, you owe me $65, I’d probably pay $65 for a Trap Jaw. But but you know, this is an inside joke. Yeah, like only maybe one other person’s gonna get it, but I doubt he listens.
Ryan (00:14:59 - 00:15:31): Yeah. Um, and then yes, to, to wrap it all up, my purchases, I picked up the, uh, they called it, uh, King Size Homer. It’s the, uh, Homer in a muumuu from The Simpsons figure line. I saw that at, uh, at EB, and I was like I need, I need Homer in a muumuu. I’ve got the Funko Pop on my desk, but— and he comes with the little bird that, that, that, yeah, that hits the keyboard for him. Yeah, comes with that too. But yeah, big fat Homer in a muumuu.
Ed (00:15:31 - 00:15:37): I’m surprised you— he’s on the shelf right beside your, your He-Man. I’m surprised Homer hasn’t taken the power sword.
Ryan (00:15:37 - 00:15:39): That’s a good idea. I haven’t done that yet.
Ed (00:15:40 - 00:15:41): In Rod, we trust.
Ryan (00:15:42 - 00:15:52): Uh, he got put there mostly because he was living on the coffee table here. But, uh, I had guests coming over and we might do stuff, so I put them up there to get them off of the table.
Ed (00:15:52 - 00:15:53): There you go.
Ryan (00:15:53 - 00:15:54): Uh, that was my purchases.
Ed (00:15:54 - 00:15:55): That’s your purchases.
Ryan (00:15:55 - 00:15:57): Yep. Now ready for the marathon.
Six Figures This Month: Ed’s Pickups
Ed (00:15:57 - 00:16:00): Marathon. Oh my God, I love—
Ryan (00:16:00 - 00:16:03): what was it? Was it No Figure February?
Ed (00:16:03 - 00:16:04): No Figure January.
Ryan (00:16:04 - 00:16:14): Oh, it was January. February next time, because the F’s, alliteration. No Figure January turned into Here goes all my money the rest of the year.
Ed (00:16:14 - 00:16:22): Multiples. Well, and then, yeah, then, yeah, well, more figures, more problems, March.
Ryan (00:16:22 - 00:16:23): Now take my money, May.
Ed (00:16:23 - 00:16:53): Well, hey, when it comes down to this, is a podcast talking about action figures, not about responsible spending or shelving. Yes, exactly. All right, so I ended up picking up I was out west and I was in Edmonton, and I end up coming up with finding a WWE Elite Series Charlotte Flair. She’s got her black gear and also comes with the title belt.
Ryan (00:16:53 - 00:16:54): Okay.
Ed (00:16:54 - 00:17:21): And I love Charlotte, so I picked that up. And then, um, I also came across an Ultimate Warrior Royal Rumble series. Oh, so it is the— was it Royal Rumble ‘90? ‘90. Royal Rumble ‘90. So it’s that gear, and that’s where he comes with the exerciser bar.
Ryan (00:17:21 - 00:17:22): Okay.
Ed (00:17:22 - 00:17:35): Because that’s when it was the pose down with, uh, um, Rick Rude, and then he hit him in the back of the head with the exerciser bar. So I got that one.
Ryan (00:17:36 - 00:17:43): And then was he IC Champ still at that point already, or did he come— does he come with a belt?
Ed (00:17:44 - 00:17:58): No, he doesn’t come with a belt. Um, and then I, I picked up— I found the LJN style big rubber guy. Well, no, I guess no, that is branded LJN because Mattel has the, the right style.
Ryan (00:17:58 - 00:17:59): Jan—
Ed (00:17:59 - 00:18:33): so I picked up Dusty Rhodes. Yeah, so I got a Dusty Rhodes baby, and he’s in with the rest of them. Um, I also picked up the WWE Main Event Showdown, so that’s the 2-pack. Um, I got, oh, awesome, or Stone Cold Steve Austin and Kevin Owens from— okay, from that WrestleMania. Nice. Uh, because it’s actually— the reason I went for it is because it’s actually Austin where the t-shirt is rubber. So it’s not one of the soft good t-shirts, so it actually looks good.
Ryan (00:18:33 - 00:18:33): Okay.
Ed (00:18:33 - 00:18:53): And he’s got both knee braces on and then comes with the microphone. And then Kevin Owens comes with the, um, WrestleMania 8 shirt where he’s got like, you know, like what he— when he was going to WrestleManias, he’d take whatever the WrestleMania poster was and, and modify it to be him.
Ryan (00:18:53 - 00:18:53): Okay.
Ed (00:18:53 - 00:18:59): So it was like Austin and Owen Oh, Austin and Owens on the WrestleMania 8 shirt.
Ryan (00:18:59 - 00:19:00): Nice.
Ed (00:19:00 - 00:19:07): So I picked that up. Um, I also found a Main Event Series, so that the single-carded one.
Ryan (00:19:07 - 00:19:08): Yep.
Ed (00:19:08 - 00:19:17): Uh, Trish Stratus with her Maple Leafs gear from, um, what was that, Elimination Chamber in Toronto with the last year, wasn’t it?
Ryan (00:19:17 - 00:19:19): Yeah, the Cena one.
Ed (00:19:19 - 00:19:26): Yeah, so it was like $14. So I get Trish with that. And then I also picked up the Main Event series.
Ryan (00:19:27 - 00:19:31): I’ve— have you seen the Cena in his Toronto gear?
Ed (00:19:31 - 00:19:34): Uh, I’ve seen multiple Cenas because they have that one.
Ryan (00:19:34 - 00:19:49): It’s where— it’s one— it’s like, it’s the impression. It’s not the exact same gear because I guess they couldn’t, you know, because you had to like place Maple Leaf stuff on it, I think, or something. Or there was something about it that it’s not the exact same, but it’s the gear that’s supposed to be the gear from that night.
Ed (00:19:51 - 00:20:37): No, because I’ve got Cena with the Vegas gear, and I have the very last match Cena on that Elite Series or the Ultimate Series. So I’m like, I’m, I’m good with Cena’s. Yeah, like I don’t need any more Cena’s. Um, I picked up a Main Event Roman Reigns because I’m like, I don’t have one. So, and that comes with the, the pointing finger, so you can do the, you know, ignore me. And he’s $15, so I picked him up. Um, let’s see, I’ll— oh, I was at the comic book shop and I picked up the Jack Spacific Million Dollar Man with title belt. So I bought that one from you, or you got it out of the case for me.
Ryan (00:20:37 - 00:20:38): Yep.
Ed (00:20:38 - 00:20:50): Um, then I ordered on eBay the Million Dollar Man with his tuxedo.
Ryan (00:20:52 - 00:20:52): Okay.
Ed (00:20:53 - 00:20:54): And the Million Dollar Belt.
Ryan (00:20:54 - 00:20:54): Nice.
Ed (00:20:55 - 00:21:03): And it comes with the briefcase. So this was the WWE Legends Greatest— the, the legend, the gold box ones.
Ryan (00:21:03 - 00:21:03): Okay.
Ed (00:21:04 - 00:21:05): So I bought him on eBay.
Ryan (00:21:05 - 00:21:09): Oh, like those great moments or whatever, the, uh, iconic looks or whatever.
Ed (00:21:09 - 00:21:12): And it was several releases ago.
Ryan (00:21:12 - 00:21:12): Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Ed (00:21:13 - 00:21:30): I goofed up. I had him shipped home versus shipping it to the office because it cost me like $35 in shipping. Um, and just yesterday I was in Edmonton and I came across a WWE Elite Series Zeus from SummerSlam.
Ryan (00:21:30 - 00:21:31): Oh geez.
Ed (00:21:32 - 00:21:34): So I was like, and the price dropped on those figures, so.
Ryan (00:21:34 - 00:21:35): Okay.
Ed (00:21:35 - 00:21:39): So I was like, oh, so he’s gonna go on my Hulk Hogan shelf.
Ryan (00:21:39 - 00:21:40): Oh yeah.
Ed (00:21:41 - 00:21:56): Um, let’s see here. Oh, and I also, um, I got a clearance deal at, uh, Big Bad Toy Store. I got an Ultimate Series Charlotte Flair with her pink robe.
Ryan (00:21:56 - 00:21:57): Oh, okay.
Ed (00:21:57 - 00:22:00): So, and, and I love Charlotte so much.
Ryan (00:22:00 - 00:22:04): So like, well then, because the other one didn’t have Uh, like a robe or anything?
Ed (00:22:04 - 00:22:06): No, no, that was just certain wrestling gear.
Ryan (00:22:06 - 00:22:09): Cool. And then ring gear only, and then entrance gear.
Ed (00:22:09 - 00:22:16): Nice. And then I was playing on Mattel Creations one night, and they—
Ryan (00:22:16 - 00:22:16): that’s always trouble.
Ed (00:22:17 - 00:22:25): Yeah, well, they had a deal where they were getting rid of, or they’re blowing out, some of their Coliseum Collection 2-packs.
Ryan (00:22:25 - 00:22:25): Oh no.
Ed (00:22:25 - 00:22:43): So the Coliseum Collection is their Elite Series But everything is LJN style. Yeah, so the card is LJN, like it looks like the original LJNs, but you can slip the card off of the blister pack.
Ryan (00:22:43 - 00:22:49): It’s made for collectors. Yes, you want to have the— you want to take it out of package, but then you want to put it back in the package, you still can.
Ed (00:22:49 - 00:23:07): The packaging is awesome on it. It comes with actually the background, what it looked like on the TitanTron. When they came to the ring, but it’s Ultimate Warrior and Honky Tonk Man. That match where basically where he just ran out, clotheslined him.
Ryan (00:23:07 - 00:23:11): Yeah, when he won the Intercontinental, jumped on him and then won the belt in like 30 seconds.
Ed (00:23:11 - 00:23:14): But Honky comes with two guitars.
Ryan (00:23:14 - 00:23:14): Nice.
Ed (00:23:14 - 00:23:36): One’s a busted guitar, one’s a regular guitar. Nice. And I always loved Honky Tonk Man. Like, Honky Tonk Man Because like, if you think about it, like, he was Intercontinental Champion for over a year. Yep. So like, they had a lot of faith in him. Yep. And I always loved Honky. Like, Honky Tonk was like always—
Ryan (00:23:36 - 00:23:38): that’s the workers title, right?
Ed (00:23:38 - 00:23:41): So, and he didn’t work much. No.
Ryan (00:23:41 - 00:23:45): So, no, but I mean, he was a good worker. That’s why he got—
Ed (00:23:45 - 00:23:55): well, he, I don’t know, he had everything going for him. He had Jimmy Hart. He had You know, like if you think about it, WrestleMania 6, he came to the ring, Diamond Dallas Page was driving the limo.
Ryan (00:23:56 - 00:23:57): Oh really? Yeah. Wow. Yeah.
Ed (00:23:58 - 00:24:06): So I actually won a, uh, WrestleMania 18. I was at Cineplex watching it live there.
Ryan (00:24:06 - 00:24:06): Okay.
Ed (00:24:06 - 00:24:11): And they had a contest and they were giving away a WrestleMania 18 hockey jersey.
Ryan (00:24:12 - 00:24:12): Nice.
Ed (00:24:13 - 00:24:35): And the trivia question was who was driving the car to bring Honky Tonk to the ring at WrestleMania VI, and the place was crickets. And I put up my hand and they’re like, you? And I’m like, Diamond Dallas Page. And they’re like, yeah, you’re right. Because I love WrestleMania VI. Like, it’s— you can watch it for free on YouTube.
Ryan (00:24:35 - 00:24:36): Yeah.
Ed (00:24:36 - 00:24:42): On the WWE Vault. And like, I put the WWE stuff on just for background noise.
Ryan (00:24:42 - 00:24:43): Oh, yeah.
Ed (00:24:43 - 00:24:53): And I fell asleep to it last night, and I woke up this morning at 1 o’clock in the morning and WrestleMania VI was on. Nice. Because it was the Bolsheviks versus Hart Foundation.
Ryan (00:24:53 - 00:24:54): Okay.
Ed (00:24:54 - 00:25:12): And also at the beginning of that one, that’s when Andre the Giant turned, turned face again because it was Andre the Giant and King Haku versus Demolition. And that’s where Demolition beat Andre and Haku. And then Bobby Heenan slapped Andre’s face.
Ryan (00:25:12 - 00:25:13): Okay.
Ed (00:25:13 - 00:25:15): And then that’s when Andre turned on Bobby Heenan.
Ryan (00:25:15 - 00:25:16): Nice.
Ed (00:25:16 - 00:25:36): It’s also funny too that Bill Eadie is the one who ended up pinning Haku, which Bill Eadie was tag team partners with Andre the Giant. But anyways, that’s for another podcast, maybe someday when we ever get a wrestling podcast going on TNN Network. All right, back to toys. Um, I got a crapload of McFarlane’s.
Ryan (00:25:36 - 00:25:37): Which ones did you get?
Ed (00:25:37 - 00:25:50): I was at GameStop and I found a— on clearance— the McFarlane Injustice Green Arrow figure. Okay. Um, I cosplay Green Arrow and I’m bringing him back.
Ryan (00:25:50 - 00:25:51): Oh, nice.
Ed (00:25:51 - 00:25:55): I was like, ooh, okay, $8, I’ll buy it. I’ll buy another.
Ryan (00:25:55 - 00:25:55): Yeah.
Ed (00:25:55 - 00:26:02): Um, and then all my pre-orders came in, so I got the real ones. McFarlane Arrowverse Supergirl, so the—
Ryan (00:26:02 - 00:26:06): okay, Melissa, the TV one. Yep, that’s a great looking figure.
Ed (00:26:06 - 00:26:16): Um, the McFarlane movie Supergirl, so just a regular one. Yep. And then there was the deluxe version with baby Krypto.
Ryan (00:26:16 - 00:26:17): Yep.
Ed (00:26:17 - 00:26:49): And then the Gold Label deluxe with regular Krypto, and she has the jacket on that one. Now somebody posted on one of the— because again, my Facebook feed is now filled up with all this random toy crap, but somebody posted about her arms look weird. Okay. And if you look at the McFarlane Supergirl figures, her arms are like ridiculously too long. Really? Yeah, she has these like long gangly arms. So now I’m going to be watching the movie looking to say, does she have arms that long?
Ryan (00:26:49 - 00:26:57): You have to like wait, you know, hold your figure up, say, okay, when she has her arms down straight, how long far do they go? And then see if they actually go that far in real life.
Ed (00:26:57 - 00:27:11): Yeah, exactly. Um, and then when I was— well, when I was at Big B there, you end up pulling it out of the cabinet for me. Um, Mattel Dark Knight Rises Catwoman figure. Yep. Um, so I hadn’t had a Catwoman.
Ryan (00:27:12 - 00:27:15): I wasn’t— see, I would have sworn that you at least would have had that one already.
Ed (00:27:15 - 00:27:21): I wasn’t buying as many toys back then, so— because that was what, 2011?
Ryan (00:27:21 - 00:27:22): Yeah, I guess so.
Ed (00:27:22 - 00:27:30): So that was kind of not so many toys. Yeah. Um, which, you know, you had her for $10 or whatever.
Ryan (00:27:30 - 00:27:31): Oh yeah, no, great deals in the used.
Ed (00:27:31 - 00:27:34): I still want the McFarlane one, but I’m not paying.
Ryan (00:27:34 - 00:27:58): Oh, uh, Ryan, I checked yesterday to see if we had a new Fantastic Four movie Thing. We don’t. We have— we have Sue, we have Johnny, we have Reed, but apparently the Thing was the first thing to go when that— when we got that collection in recently. It always is. We have a couple other things, but not that thing. Not that—
Ed (00:27:58 - 00:28:19): not have other things. I have some things, not the thing he wants. Okay, uh, let’s see here. Oh, McFarlane’s. Uh, I got a really good McFarlane that showed up when I was away this week. Uh-oh, the McFarlane Collector Series Artist You know, they’re, they’re—
Ryan (00:28:19 - 00:28:21): oh yeah, yeah, the, the—
Ed (00:28:21 - 00:28:27): they’re big time. Like, because Spawn was the first one. Yep. My Hellboy showed up.
Ryan (00:28:28 - 00:28:30): Oh, mine hasn’t shown up yet.
Ed (00:28:30 - 00:28:33): It looks immaculate. It’s—
Ryan (00:28:33 - 00:28:59): yeah, so mine hasn’t shown up yet because, you know, I pre-ordered it through EB Games. I, I need to actually talk to them when I go in, like, probably later this week when, uh, might some Joes show up, hopefully. But, uh, if you go on the EB Games website and search for Hellboy, it’s not on that website anymore. And it was a whole big thing, like it was on the front page for pre-orders. So I’m hoping it’s still coming. Well, but it’s not anywhere on there.
Ed (00:28:59 - 00:29:05): I couldn’t get it anywhere because it was sold out everywhere when I went to go order it. Yeah, so I went direct to McFarlane.
Ryan (00:29:05 - 00:29:06): Nice.
Ed (00:29:06 - 00:29:10): And they have the new McFarlane Club.
Ryan (00:29:10 - 00:29:10): Okay.
Ed (00:29:11 - 00:29:15): Which they threw an extra redemption code in my box.
Ryan (00:29:15 - 00:29:15): Okay.
Ed (00:29:15 - 00:29:17): As— because I ordered direct from McFarland.
Ryan (00:29:17 - 00:29:18): Nice.
Ed (00:29:18 - 00:29:27): So they give you extra. So I’m thinking when Savage Dragon comes out, if I can’t get Savage Dragon regular, I’m just gonna order direct from McFarland.
Ryan (00:29:27 - 00:29:29): Nice.
Ed (00:29:29 - 00:29:33): So yeah, I, I’m looking forward to getting that out of the package.
Ryan (00:29:33 - 00:29:35): I can’t wait for— to see your pictures.
Ed (00:29:35 - 00:29:57): Um, also with my McFarlane, I got the Collector Edition of Black Canary. Okay, so that’s the one I got, was not the Gold Label, it’s just the regular. So it was the— her blue gear with the fishnets and the— in the boots, uh, comes with multiple face plates. Okay, so you can swap her face out for different—
Ryan (00:29:57 - 00:29:59): oh, does it have like a screaming face? Yep.
Ed (00:29:59 - 00:30:10): Okay, and then I got the Zatanna from EB Games, but it was the—
Ryan (00:30:10 - 00:30:12): wasn’t the paint scheme you wanted though?
Ed (00:30:12 - 00:30:29): Wasn’t the paint scheme I wanted, and but it’s the same sculpt, so it looked weird because instead of boots they gave her like shoes. And I think I said before, like, she has like these saggy ankles because it’s actually supposed to be boots. So, um, Big Bad actually had her back in stock.
Ryan (00:30:29 - 00:30:30): Oh nice!
Ed (00:30:30 - 00:30:51): So I picked her up. So it’s the yellow the yellow gear with the, with, with the boots, and the other version of Detective Chimp, which I couldn’t care less about him. But I love Zatanna, which Zatanna has always been one of my favorite figures or characters. And then I got my ‘89 style Joker.
Ryan (00:30:51 - 00:30:52): Yes.
Ed (00:30:52 - 00:30:57): Which, getting it out of the package, yes, it does not look like, yeah, Jack Nicholson, but it’s not.
Ryan (00:30:57 - 00:31:03): It’s supposed to look like the comic book. Now, yes version or no?
Ed (00:31:03 - 00:31:41): It looks like— so when in ‘89 when Kenner came out with the Batman figures, there was the first releases. So I have the first releases of Batman and Joker, and then later on during that line they re-released Joker. And then Joker— so even with McFarlane, because they have the orange version of his, of his suit Yep, which Kenner came out with that version. Well, the head sculpt sort of looks like an updated, realistic version of the Kenner figure, of the toys.
Ryan (00:31:41 - 00:31:43): Yeah, which also didn’t look like—
Ed (00:31:43 - 00:32:56): it comes with the long barrel gun, it comes with the bang gun, it comes with a cane, it comes with the, the megaphone. It’s Also comes with two headpieces, so it comes with one face sculpt, but you can pull his hat off and then snap on a wig. Okay, so you can have Joker hair or you can have the hat. It’s, it’s insanely good. Like, it’s— yes, it’s not Jack Nicholson, but it might be one of the best Joker figures to ever come out. And I have the Killing Joke Joker. Yeah. And I would, I would put this one because the Killing Joke Joker like was awesome, but the colors weren’t quite right. This is like not a complaint. This, this thing is— this Joker is amazing. Nice. All right, uh, let’s get into some GI Joe. Um, so the retro carded I had pre-ordered on, um, Pulse. So I got, uh, Crazy Legs, Zap, and the Crimson Guard female version. Yep, on card.
Ryan (00:32:56 - 00:33:06): My Crazy Legs and Zap got moved. Originally their date online on EB showed this past Friday, now it shows next Friday. So hopefully it comes in this week.
Ed (00:33:06 - 00:33:21): Uh, Zap is one that I wouldn’t mind buying an extra so I could take him out of package so I could have a Zap on the shelf with the other. But then I guess my Rock and Roll— like, if I was going for the classic 13.
Ryan (00:33:21 - 00:33:22): Yep.
Ed (00:33:22 - 00:34:09): With all the greens. But Rock and Roll is still on cards, so, um, I got them in the bunker. Um, next time maybe we’ll record out in the bunker next time so you can see what I’ve done to the bunker setup. Nice. Because I’ve been— I’ve had a little bit of time that I could work on that. Um, let’s see, what else do I have for G.I. Joe? Uh, Night Force Zartan, which I had him on pre-order, but again— oh, sorry, yes, Ninja Force Zartan, which same thing, figure in hand is better than figure not. Yep. So I picked him up at EB one day. Um, Xania with the chameleon showed up by Pulse. I also had the Ramp Rats The Deck Crew figures, they showed up. I haven’t taken them out of package yet.
Ryan (00:34:09 - 00:34:21): Yes, now they are one of the first ones from Joe’s that have started showing up at EB Games as part of their new Pulse— yes, uh, Pulse Partnership. Partnership, that’s the word. Thank you.
Ed (00:34:21 - 00:34:48): Yes, but, um, no, it’s— yeah, I can’t wait to get them out of the package. They come with some extra cool things, especially if you’ve got the Rattler, which I never got. No. Um, I also broke down— I got into a conversation with one of the clerks at EB one day because Super 7 came out with the 3¾ O-ring Series USA 250 figures.
Ryan (00:34:49 - 00:34:51): Yes, that’s the red, white, and blue paint jobs.
Ed (00:34:51 - 00:35:36): Yep. So I was in EB somewhere Southend, wasn’t it? No, it wasn’t Southend, it was Edmonton. Okay, I was in Edmonton there a couple weeks ago and they had the figures but they had the price tags on them. And the guy says, anything I can help you with? And I’m like, yeah, you got any of these without the price tag on them? He says, no, we have to put them on. And I’m like, okay, like this is a collector packaging. This is a special edition figure. Why would you go and slap a $25 sticker right on the front of it? It doesn’t make sense. He’s like, company policy says we have to put the sticker up in the top right-hand corner of all packaging.
Ryan (00:35:36 - 00:35:50): Which I love because I mentioned that to one of the local staff and she’s like, uh, yeah, okay, cool. Um, then how come none of those have it in the right-hand corner? They’re all on the left side. And she’s like, because Dumb and Dumber were working and they did it.
Ed (00:35:50 - 00:36:34): So I I, I was like, well, I said, I’m going to just wait to see if I can find one without any stickers on them. So one day, you know, my Ryan and I went into EB and they had Duke, Flint, and Lady J. So I was in the South End at EB and I asked the girl, I said, look, I said, I got a question for you. She said, fire away. I said, I will buy these if I can pull the sticker off and had not damaged the packaging. And she said, I’ll do it myself. So she pulled the stickers all off and showed me the packaging, and I’m like, deal, I’ll take them. So nice. Somebody who was willing to work with me made $75.
Ryan (00:36:34 - 00:36:35): There you go.
Ed (00:36:35 - 00:36:45): And then she have a mask on? No. Okay, so there’s one, uh, female worker at that store that, uh, she wears masks at times.
Ryan (00:36:45 - 00:36:51): Okay, so her— yeah, she’s, she’s real good. Brent and I have quite You know, we get along well with, uh, with them.
Ed (00:36:51 - 00:37:02): That’s— so then she said to me, she said, well, there’s a new one coming out for pre-order, it’s Snake Eyes. She said, do you want that one? I’m like, yeah, go ahead. So it came in today.
Ryan (00:37:02 - 00:37:03): Nice.
Ed (00:37:03 - 00:37:36): Um, the Snake Eyes though is like lazy manufacturing. Oh yeah, I didn’t know much of the line and even I looked at it, I’m like, oh, this is the figure you’re getting? So it’s basically, it’s already dark blue they painted the visor white and put red lines in it. Okay. And made the blade on a sword red. I’m like, you did that for USA 250? Like, at least like Duke has like, like kind of like blue camouflage, like—
Ryan (00:37:36 - 00:37:42): but yes, it is, it is like— this would be tough with Snake Eyes because, you know, usually he’s black.
Ed (00:37:42 - 00:37:42): Yeah.
Ryan (00:37:43 - 00:37:49): Yeah, so let’s— you know, they should have gone whole hog and just printed a big USA flag on them or something.
Ed (00:37:49 - 00:37:57): Anyways, uh, I, I finished off the Super 7 line. I can’t wait to the Classified USA 250.
Ryan (00:37:57 - 00:38:01): Um, just a Duke, right? Yes.
Ed (00:38:01 - 00:38:13): All right, so before I get to the final of my list, again, big list. Yep, big list. I picked up Street Fighter and, uh, Guile and Cammy when I was out in Alberta.
Ryan (00:38:13 - 00:38:15): Okay.
Ed (00:38:15 - 00:38:29): I figured, you know what, save the tax. And I was at Walmart one day and you save $5 compared to GameStop, and plus I was out there and saved the tax. Uh, the Guile is awesome. He comes with, um, a little—
Ryan (00:38:29 - 00:38:30): now are these the Jada Toys ones?
Ed (00:38:30 - 00:38:31): Yeah, Jada Toys.
Ryan (00:38:31 - 00:38:34): I wasn’t sure if it was the WWE Street Fighter.
Ed (00:38:34 - 00:38:57): No, because I didn’t like the look of that. Yeah, um, Guile comes with like a little tiny comb, and then you can actually— and he comes with one of his hands is kind of like he’s like primping his hair. So I have him on the shelf where he’s doing the whole combing his— combing his hair. And Cammy has like multiple heads, and she looks awesome. So, uh, Guile and Cammy are basically two of my favorite characters in Street Fighter.
Ryan (00:38:57 - 00:39:08): I’ve gotten off easy with that toy line, like, to avoid it mostly because Ryu was my guy. Yeah. And I haven’t found a Player One Ryu, so—
Ed (00:39:08 - 00:39:10): well, and he was one of the first to come out.
Ryan (00:39:10 - 00:39:20): Exactly. So it’s been easy for me to be like, yep, no, yeah, these, these are great figures, I’ve heard lots of good things about them. No, I know Ryu, no, no buying, I’m good.
Ed (00:39:20 - 00:39:26): Well, my favorite is the one who’s been tough to find is Bison, and I love Bison.
Ryan (00:39:27 - 00:39:33): He’s the big bad, right? No. Yeah, yeah, yeah. See, if I’d have known that— I, when he first came out, I saw him all the time at Walmart.
Ed (00:39:33 - 00:39:34): I never seen him.
Ryan (00:39:34 - 00:39:42): Yeah, so that’s also one of those— had I bought, you know, had a Ryu, I would have bought a Bison to go with them because, yeah, why not?
Ed (00:39:42 - 00:39:51): But okay, so now this is sort of fitting because a bunch of Masters of the Universe stuff is coming out. I think there’s a movie coming out apparently.
Ryan (00:39:51 - 00:39:53): Well, they’re showing some commercial during the baseball game.
Ed (00:39:53 - 00:40:09): Yeah, well, I don’t know, I’m I got an invite to the premiere, but I got a goddamn kid that’s graduating college— university— that I got to go to his university graduation again. He spends 4 years to get a piece of paper, and I’m gonna miss seeing you getting punished. Masters of the Universe.
Ryan (00:40:09 - 00:40:11): Did you go to those high school graduation?
Ed (00:40:12 - 00:40:15): Well, that was different. That was during COVID so it was in the backyard.
Ryan (00:40:15 - 00:40:18): Oh, there you go. That’s so though. So you did.
Ed (00:40:18 - 00:40:33): So if anyone says I’m a bad dad because I spent all my money on toys and all that kind of stuff. Look at it this way, I am giving up the opportunity to be at the advanced screening of Masters of the Universe so I can be at my kid’s graduation.
Ryan (00:40:33 - 00:40:35): Such a good dad.
Ed (00:40:35 - 00:40:36): Give me a goddamn gold star.
Ryan (00:40:37 - 00:40:41): Anyways, one gold star noted. So noted in the meeting minutes.
Ed (00:40:41 - 00:40:48): Okay, so with Masters of the Universe, with the movie stuff, they’re actually coming out with 3 different lines.
Ryan (00:40:48 - 00:40:52): Yes. And you’re collecting all three, I think?
Ed (00:40:53 - 00:41:01): Uh, well, I bought all three. I’m not collecting all three. So there’s the Core line, which is made for kids. Yes. There’s the Origins line.
Ryan (00:41:01 - 00:41:02): Well priced.
Ed (00:41:02 - 00:41:07): Yes. So the, the Origins line, which is the same stuff that came out 6 years ago.
Ryan (00:41:07 - 00:41:08): Yep.
Ed (00:41:08 - 00:41:10): But now let’s jack it up for the collectors.
Ryan (00:41:10 - 00:41:11): Yep.
Ed (00:41:11 - 00:41:17): And then there’s the Chronicles line, which is their high detail, the 6-inch scale. This has replaced the Masterverse.
Ryan (00:41:17 - 00:41:18): Yep.
Ed (00:41:19 - 00:41:25): So I picked up the core movie He-Man, and you found the core movie Skeletor for me.
Ryan (00:41:25 - 00:41:27): I did, and I bought it for you because I’m a good friend.
Ed (00:41:28 - 00:41:39): For $15, these are awesome figures. Like, this meant— this is made for kids. Yeah, and it’s awesome.
Ryan (00:41:39 - 00:41:49): Um, I’m surprised at how well the sculpts are on those. Yeah. Um, that day when I found them, they also had that Skeleknight, like, so I guess like the foot soldiers. It looks great.
Ed (00:41:49 - 00:42:06): Yeah, well, and that’s the thing, I’m, I’m like, because also Teela’s out, I haven’t bought her yet. I’m like, which one am I— like, I’m all in on Chronicles. Yes. So I’m like, well, if I get He-Man and Skeletor of the Core and I get He-Man and Skeletor of the Origins, everything else can wait.
Ryan (00:42:06 - 00:42:08): Fine. Yeah, everything. Yep.
Ed (00:42:08 - 00:42:11): But, um, but I did get Battle Cat of the Core Series.
Ryan (00:42:11 - 00:42:16): Well, that, that fits. But Battle Cat, you can totally justify Battle Cat.
Ed (00:42:16 - 00:42:28): But Battle Cat also has sounds. Yeah, so you press one of the spikes on his back and he roars and his mouth opens, and I’m like, well, you gotta have— no, as—
Ryan (00:42:28 - 00:42:32): as— no, not like— wow, wow, wow, wow.
Ed (00:42:33 - 00:42:36): So, um, yeah, it looks really good.
Ryan (00:42:36 - 00:42:37): Yep.
Ed (00:42:37 - 00:42:51): Um, So then let’s see, I also— well, okay, so then I also picked up the movie— no, you found it for me— the movie Origins He-Man.
Ryan (00:42:54 - 00:42:56): Yes, Origins He-Man.
Ed (00:42:56 - 00:42:59): Origins He-Man, which that one hurt because it was the same price as the Chronicles.
Ryan (00:42:59 - 00:43:01): Yeah, and I had to go—
Ed (00:43:01 - 00:43:24): I went and scanned it to me, so I was like, oh And because it’s still Origins sculpt, yeah, like when I’m moving around, like Origins are made to pop apart. Yeah. And like, well, nope, the— his top part of his body popped off. And I’m like, a $40 figure? Yeah, like I have a hard time because those were Origins, those were $12 figures.
Ryan (00:43:24 - 00:43:33): And I get there for their collector line now, they should be like $20, $25. They should be half the price of a Chronicles.
Ed (00:43:33 - 00:43:38): Yes, they should not be the same price as Chronicles because they don’t have the same detail scale or anything like that.
Ryan (00:43:39 - 00:43:46): Um, oh, I don’t know if you did notice though, in the ones I got you, especially the, uh, the 2000X, it’s an unpunched card.
Ed (00:43:46 - 00:44:08): Oh well, that doesn’t matter because I know you’re gonna open it anyway. Card’s gonna get ripped and thrown in the garbage. Um, also picked up the MotU Origins cartoon 200x Teela. Yep. And you found me the, the 200x Origins cartoon Skeletor. Skeletor.
Ryan (00:44:08 - 00:44:28): And let’s see here, in your travels in the future— this was the note for future Ed— in your future travels south of the border when they start clearancing out He-Man stuff, uh, if you can find me a Skeletor mask Gotcha. But not like full price. Yeah.
Ed (00:44:28 - 00:44:32): Yeah. Well, speaking about the Skeletor mask, I bought something maybe I shouldn’t have.
Ryan (00:44:32 - 00:44:33): Uh-oh.
Ed (00:44:33 - 00:44:35): I bought the Power Sword.
Ryan (00:44:36 - 00:44:37): Which one?
Ed (00:44:37 - 00:44:45): The one, the one that comes out, the, the, uh, the one that came out just now. It’s the kids’ light and sound Power Sword.
Ryan (00:44:45 - 00:44:50): It’s a little small for a little small, but you press the button, it makes—
Ed (00:44:50 - 00:44:51): yeah. And I never had a Power Sword.
Ryan (00:44:51 - 00:44:57): I am hoping that we get the drink ones at the— that’s, that’s in a Plex.
Ed (00:44:57 - 00:45:30): I doubt we will, but yeah, but I might be in the States that week, so I’ll take a look. Um, so then I guess I’m just down to the rest of the Chronicles because, um, walmart.ca, I was able to order the Man-at-Arms and Triclops. Okay, so anything over $35 is free shipping, so I got that shipped to the house. I didn’t even have to fight the staff. Like, fight, fight the staff, fight the crowd. Nope, didn’t have to go to the store and be like, you were there, you did find Trap Jaw for me.
Ryan (00:45:30 - 00:45:30): Yes.
Ed (00:45:30 - 00:45:50): And I said, oh no, no, I’ll wait. And who would have known the Trap Jaw is the hardest, hardest to find figure? Where we made the joke earlier about, uh, Brent is at a toy show, found a Trap Jaw for $65. But you know, like, it’s already a $40 figure. Can’t really justify spending $65. I’ll find them. I’m going to the States this week.
Ryan (00:45:51 - 00:46:06): So I was surprised, like, I went back the next day. Like, I saw those on the Thursday when I bought the toys for you. I went back Friday. That bunker that I found that had all this stuff in it, there was no Chronicles figures left, and there was only a couple Masterverse figures left.
Ed (00:46:06 - 00:46:26): Yeah, no. Um, and then, yeah, the last Chronicles I got was the Skeletor that you picked me up. But just looking at this, the Skeletor in the package, like, it’s hard. It’s going to be hard. Like, he might edge out He-Man as one of my figures of the year.
Ryan (00:46:26 - 00:46:27): Oh, okay.
Ed (00:46:27 - 00:46:47): Like, it’s like He-Man is seriously one of my figures of the year because when I took him out of the package, I absolutely loved it. And then if you look at the detail and the sculpting on Skeletor, it’s like, wait a minute, that’s a like You figure all the sculpting on his jaw and all the little bones in his teeth, it’s like, uh, yeah, no, they’re both gonna be hard.
Ryan (00:46:47 - 00:46:52): They’re both— they could be a, a combined, you know.
Ed (00:46:52 - 00:47:21): Well, I did that when the, uh, ‘87 movie figures came out. I put Skeletor and He-Man as combined figure of the year. I think it’s very interesting that when we get to the end of the year awards that both He-Man movie figures end up being my top choices. But, um, I’m super excited for the movie. Like, I am, I am like seriously heartbroken that I can’t go to the premiere.
Ryan (00:47:21 - 00:47:23): Yeah, no, I can—
Ed (00:47:23 - 00:47:25): like, damn responsibilities.
Ryan (00:47:26 - 00:47:36): But see, now, now hearing this, and it’s like, because I thought maybe you’d already heard, you know that you could— there wasn’t one, but I guess that was the Star Wars one that you didn’t get an invite for.
Ed (00:47:36 - 00:47:37): Yeah, Star Wars one I didn’t.
Ryan (00:47:37 - 00:47:48): But I had the thoughts like, oh, I wonder, I wonder if Ed’s gonna be around that week and I, you know, I’ll go to see He-Man with Ed. But now you said you might be in the States that week, so—
Ed (00:47:48 - 00:47:57): well, I might be home because also that’s the same week as Niagara Falls Comic-Con. Oh, and I will be at Niagara Falls Comic-Con, uh, helping out the Can Cosplay Cards.
Ryan (00:47:57 - 00:47:57): Nice.
Ed (00:47:57 - 00:48:10): Oh, So, um, which I think the movie— well, He-Man starts on the 5th, so that’s the Friday. So yeah, it’d be the Thursday it comes out.
Ryan (00:48:10 - 00:48:10): Yeah.
Ed (00:48:10 - 00:48:53): So I do want to go see it. I’m— I am like— I even thought about it. It’s like, hmm, if Ryan could just— because Ryan’s got to go up the night before to get all his graduation shit, and it was like Uh, I could just— he go up and then I just go up, but then it’s like, you figure taking 3 or 4 vehicles up to Sudbury for a— I’m like, I gotta miss it. So I hope, I hope the guilt works on you, kid. All right, Ryan, so now— no, sorry, OG Ryan, not— that’s me, not OG University Ryan.
Toy News Setup and AEW Aside
Ryan (00:48:53 - 00:48:55): Um, yes. Okay, so we’ll go to the news.
Ed (00:48:56 - 00:48:57): Or maybe call you CSI Ryan.
Ryan (00:48:57 - 00:48:58): There you go.
Ed (00:48:58 - 00:49:02): Yeah, that works. All right, that works. Uh, nobody’s going to know what we’re talking about.
Ryan (00:49:03 - 00:49:04): I don’t even know if they can hear them.
Ed (00:49:05 - 00:49:08): Probably not. We have this, our new setup in the studio.
Ryan (00:49:09 - 00:49:27): Oh, all right, Brent’s texting me. One second. He’s coming over to watch wrestling later on tonight. So, uh, what wrestling is on? AEW pay-per-view. Oh yeah, it’s, uh, what, uh, Double or Nothing? Double or Nothing. Oh, that’s the hair versus the hair versus title match.
Ed (00:49:31 - 00:49:42): I’m, I’m gonna keep my AEW stuff to myself. I’m already gonna make people mad. Yeah, over my thoughts on AEW.
Ryan (00:49:44 - 00:49:47): Hey, there’s wrestling for everybody, Ed.
Ed (00:49:47 - 00:49:54): There is. That’s right. Okay, get on to your news.
Toy News: GameStop, eBay, and AEW/Jazzwares
Ryan (00:49:54 - 00:49:55): Yep, on to the news.
Ed (00:49:56 - 00:49:56): Dead air.
Ryan (00:49:56 - 00:50:06): I know. Okay, sorry. So yeah, in the news we have two like news stories. Um, I guess we talked about the other gentleman leaving last recording.
Ed (00:50:06 - 00:50:08): Yeah, so we talked about Lenny leaving.
Ryan (00:50:08 - 00:50:13): Well, we talked about the other guy too last time, I think. Because I didn’t put my news notes.
Ed (00:50:13 - 00:50:16): So was it the other guy left first, then Lenny, or—
Ryan (00:50:16 - 00:51:33): no, Lenny left first. Okay, well, maybe I just forgot to put it in my notes, but, uh, or, or, or, or no, I was gonna say, did I send myself the wrong email of releases? But no, this is, uh, this is the new This is the new releases. Okay, good. I didn’t send myself the wrong list. Uh, so interesting, there was a couple of news stories. Uh, so GameStop USA, you know how it’s, you know, bankrupt and not bankrupt, then it became a meme stock and now they’re worth all this money again. Uh, they tried— they were looking at putting in a bid, an offer to buy eBay. Uh, so from what I’ve read after I wrote this note in the notes the first time I heard it. I just thought that was fucking— I thought it was hilarious. Uh, sounds like, uh, they have been trying to slowly buying some eBay stock and then have tried to, you know, all of a sudden, okay, cool, we want to buy eBay, which is worth more than they are. Yeah. Uh, and we’re talking in the— both of them are in the billions. But it’s like, yeah, uh, it sounds like eBay kind of, you know, went to them, was like, yeah, no. We, we didn’t solicit this offer. We’re not interested in your offer. See you later.
Ed (00:51:33 - 00:51:46): GameStop is like a stupid game collector who has money. Yeah, it’s like, I gotta buy this, I have to buy this. No, you, you basically, you, you’re good now.
Ryan (00:51:46 - 00:51:53): Yeah, it’s like you survived. Surprisingly, you survived and when you shouldn’t have.
Ed (00:51:53 - 00:51:53): Yeah.
Ryan (00:51:58 - 00:52:13): But, uh, so that was in the news. Let’s see, I had Brent— Brent keeps texting and interrupting me, and I’m on my phone. He’s like, he’s recording, question mark? And like, yeah, yeah, with, yeah, with Ed, you know.
Ed (00:52:13 - 00:52:18): Yeah, when I told you I was recording with Ed, and then, yeah, go away, Brent.
Ryan (00:52:18 - 00:53:32): Uh, and so he’s not listening anyways. We’ve already established, uh, Kevin listens sometimes. Does he? Yeah, he has no idea what we’re talking about, but he listens. He enjoys our passion. Our passion. Uh, so back to AEW though. Uh, right now there’s reports that Jazzwares, who has been their toy maker, uh, has either— it’s either they’ve reportedly laid off all their employees who are working on the AEW toy line. Yes. So it’s coming out, you know, there were talks about it like months ago that they were either losing the license or just the license was up and it wasn’t being renewed with them. So this kind of adds to that speculation that they’re done as AEW toymakers once the ones they’ve solicited come out. Yep. Uh, there’s been no announcements and no information about who will be following it up, which also makes sense. Like, you’re not going to come out and say, oh, we’ve got a new contract with a new person before the current contract’s up. I’m sure there’s all, you know, legal stuff, right? Yeah, but, uh, I guess when approached, Tony Khan did say, oh yeah, there’s big plans. There’s, you know, of course, of course there is. Yeah, so we’ll see what happens with the, the AEW toy line.
Ed (00:53:32 - 00:53:35): Well, they pretty much made everybody they got now.
Ryan (00:53:35 - 00:53:50): Yeah, but same thing can be said for WWE toy line. They’ve made everybody that they’ve got, and they keep making new people and getting new people and people that they’ve already fired. And yeah, both companies do that. Shut up!
Ed (00:53:50 - 00:53:50): What?
Ryan (00:53:50 - 00:53:51): Stop!
Ed (00:53:51 - 00:53:58): What? I need every single Cody Rhodes. I don’t care if they come out with Cody Rhodes with a new hat, I’m still gonna buy him.
Ryan (00:53:58 - 00:54:04): I never said anything about Cody Rhodes. You brought up Cody Rhodes. Uh, I believe he does protest too much.
Ed (00:54:04 - 00:54:08): It’s like, uh, Dustin Rhodes, why do you keep doing new face paint?
Ryan (00:54:08 - 00:54:11): I need more action figures to sell. There you go.
Ed (00:54:11 - 00:54:12): That’s where the money is.
McFarlane DC, Spawn, Image, and Sports Picks
Ryan (00:54:13 - 00:54:46): Yeah, it’s all about the merchandise. Okay, so back into the McFarlane Toys. As always, uh, they announced a new TMNT Turtles in Time Leonardo Page Puncher. Yes, they’ve got a Solomon Grundy and Green Lantern, uh, Justice Society 2-pack. So it’s the Justice Society Green Lantern, the Alan Scott version. Green Lantern. Uh, the new Batman Returns Bat-Missile. Yeah, are you gonna be ordering that, or have you already ordered that?
Ed (00:54:46 - 00:54:48): No, there’s no reason to order it.
Ryan (00:54:48 - 00:54:49): Okay.
Ed (00:54:49 - 00:54:54): Yeah, okay, it’s Batman Returns, great. Now it’s a third of what the Batmobile is.
Ryan (00:54:54 - 00:54:55): Yep.
Ed (00:54:55 - 00:55:00): And it comes with nobody. Like, at least if it came with a— another version of Batman or something.
Ryan (00:55:00 - 00:55:03): We should come with Gordon, because they haven’t done about a Gordon from those movies.
Ed (00:55:03 - 00:55:25): Like a Pat Hingle. Yeah, what I— even if it came with like some Triangle Gang members or something, I don’t know, it just— yeah, I was like, no, I’m not buying that just because it’s Bat-Missile. It’s like, yeah, it’s going to take up less space on the shelf, but there was nothing with it.
Ryan (00:55:25 - 00:56:01): Yeah, exactly. Especially it’s something that was on screen for like, what, 5 minutes? Yeah, but okay, and so then, uh, we— neither one of us really collect these, I don’t think, but the, the 3— the 4¾-inch Super Powers figures, they have a Super Powers Returns wave, and it’s Supergirl, Cyborg, Superman, Power Girl, Eradicator, Green Lantern Hal Jordan, you know, with the, the The, uh, the white sideburns and, uh, Robin.
Ed (00:56:01 - 00:56:06): Uh, yeah, I need the Hal Jordan, I need the Cyborg Superman, and I need the Eradicator.
Ryan (00:56:06 - 00:56:11): Uh, all things I knew you would say, which is why it’s on the list.
Ed (00:56:11 - 00:56:17): Yeah, as soon as I saw that, I’m like, oh damn, Cyborg Superman, oh, and Eradicator.
Ryan (00:56:17 - 00:56:28): Oh, well, see, I saw the Eradicator in the picture first. I was like, oh, okay, I’ll put this on the list because it’s in our wheelhouse. And then when I started reading the list, it’s like Oh, it’s a super— it’s a Reign of the Superman almost.
Ed (00:56:29 - 00:56:32): It’s like, oh, Supergirl.
Ryan (00:56:32 - 00:56:37): And even that Supergirl is almost— is like that, that alien gooey Supergirl look almost.
Ed (00:56:37 - 00:56:40): Yeah, it kind of looks like the—
Ryan (00:56:40 - 00:56:50): not, not, not Kara. Uh, so Curse of Spawn, Nightmare Spawn, and Spawn: Wings of Redemption were announced.
Ed (00:56:50 - 00:56:51): Is that Bumblebee?
Ryan (00:56:51 - 00:56:54): Yes, Bumblebee. It’s a Transformers marathon on Showcase today.
Ed (00:56:54 - 00:56:59): Okay, this is the best part of the whole movie because we’re about to see classic Optimus Prime.
Ryan (00:56:59 - 00:57:00): The whole—
Ed (00:57:00 - 00:57:02): you know, oh, there goes Huffer.
Ryan (00:57:02 - 00:57:04): No, that’s Bron. Bron got taken out.
Ed (00:57:04 - 00:57:09): And then you’re gonna see your favorite guy in a second, uh, because Shockwave is the best.
Ryan (00:57:09 - 00:57:11): Yep. Okay, and some people—
Ed (00:57:11 - 00:57:17): I just realized now Optimus Prime kind of did the jump like he does it, uh, in ‘86. ‘86.
Ryan (00:57:19 - 00:57:30): Yeah, and he had the battle face mask. Yeah, no. Yeah, the opening to Bumblebee is some of the best Transformers action. If we got this as a movie instead of, uh, like Transformers 1—
Ed (00:57:30 - 00:57:31): Transformers 1 was not bad.
Ryan (00:57:31 - 00:57:34): I liked it too. I’ve got The Matrix, it’s great, right?
Ed (00:57:34 - 00:57:38): Yeah, but if to have that—
Ryan (00:57:38 - 00:57:43): are we gonna get into the toy list? No, no, we’re not. We’re back to the toy list.
Ed (00:57:43 - 00:57:52): Chris Hemsworth as Optimus Prime, but I think, uh, Brian He was excellent as, uh, Megatron.
Ryan (00:57:52 - 00:58:11): All right, back to the toy list. So these Spawns, um, Wings of Redemption Spawn is one of my favorite sculpts. It’s like Spawn with angel wings. I’ve got multiples from the original ones. Yeah, I don’t need this one. It could be a ‘I need to buy a new figure to scratch that itch, didn’t see it in the stores’ kind of decision.
Ed (00:58:11 - 00:58:13): But if you find it, you’ll buy it, probably.
Ryan (00:58:14 - 00:58:28): Um, you know me so well. Back to the Image Founders series though. Yep. The Jim Valentino Shadowhawk has been shown off. Mm-hmm. And the Savage Dragon.
Ed (00:58:28 - 00:58:32): Uh, the Savage Dragon looks so good with multiple heads.
Ryan (00:58:32 - 00:58:35): Multiple heads with or without handlebar mustache.
Ed (00:58:35 - 00:58:39): Yeah, they don’t want the one with mustache. I just want Savage Dragon regular head with the sunglasses.
Ryan (00:58:39 - 00:58:42): And the sunglasses can go on both heads.
Ed (00:58:43 - 00:58:49): Yeah, no, it’s— well, because I mentioned earlier, yeah, Savage Dragon, because, uh, pre-order day is May 29th.
Ryan (00:58:49 - 00:58:50): Yeah, this week.
Ed (00:58:50 - 00:59:05): And I’m gonna— I’m ordering that big time because I need Savage Dragon. Because I love— it’s like, I love Savage Dragon so much and I only own 3 of the comics, and like 2 of them are Savage Dragon #1.
Ryan (00:59:05 - 00:59:12): Yeah, well, there you go. I can do better. How many Spawns do I actually have? Yeah, how many Spawn comics do I have?
Ed (00:59:12 - 00:59:14): Do you have number one of Spawn?
Ryan (00:59:14 - 00:59:25): No, I don’t have any Spawn comics. I have a— with the, the Spawn team-up, like that Spawn Team, I have one issue of that because it was a really cool Redeemer cover.
Ed (00:59:26 - 00:59:32): Well, at least I don’t feel bad now. I have 13 issues of Spawn because I have— I have the—
Ryan (00:59:32 - 00:59:32): they’re the first 13.
Ed (00:59:33 - 00:59:39): Actually, sorry, I have 14— no, I have 13. I have 1 through 12 and I have issue 38.
Ryan (00:59:39 - 00:59:40): Okay.
Ed (00:59:41 - 00:59:49): And then I have the, uh, the very first Spawn figure I got came with the comic book. Oh, so I have that comic book as well.
Ryan (00:59:49 - 00:59:49): Okay.
Ed (00:59:50 - 01:00:03): But yeah, like that first 12 issues, because like, uh, was it 8, 9, 10, 8, 9, 10 and 11 were the weird ones because like Cerberus is in there.
Ryan (01:00:03 - 01:00:04): I— yeah, no clue.
Ed (01:00:04 - 01:00:17): And like Angela was introduced in Spawn, and then that’s where— that’s where Neil Gaiman got the rights to her because he created Angela. Yeah. And then sold the rights, right? Yeah. And then sold the rights to Marvel.
Ryan (01:00:18 - 01:00:35): Yep. So, uh, and so the last little bit of McFarlane here, they announced a new 6-inch Sports Picks articulation line. Okay. They’ve got NFL Legends Series, and in that they’ve announced a Dallas Cowboys Troy Aikman, uh-huh, and a 49ers Jerry Rice.
Ed (01:00:35 - 01:00:37): Okay.
Ryan (01:00:37 - 01:01:15): And they’ve announced an NBA Legends Series, and in that they’ve announced Boston Celtics Larry Bird and LA Lakers Magic Johnson. Uh, I think they’ll do better with basketball figures selling legends like Larry Bird, Magic Johnson. If they do a Jordan, a Pippen, a Rodman, you know, Isaiah Thomas even, you know, but doing legends versus what Hasbro did when they had like all those new guys that nobody cared about. The toys were overpriced and then they went right to Ross.
Ed (01:01:16 - 01:01:23): Yeah. I, I don’t— I maybe buy a Larry Bird.
G.I. Joe and TMNT Crossovers
Ryan (01:01:23 - 01:01:55): Yeah, I would buy a Michael Jordan. Uh, we have some G.I. Joe news and announcements and teases. Uh, so like, I think you mentioned it earlier, the TMNT-G.I. Joe crossover figure pre-orders started today, went live today. Yeah, when you’re listening to this, it was earlier, but it was today and it might be already sold out because I went on amazon.ca this morning when I saw that that said it was live and they were all listed as not available.
Ed (01:01:56 - 01:02:05): I, I was flying this morning. Yep. And I get Wi-Fi on the plane, so I pre-ordered everything on Big Bad.
Ryan (01:02:05 - 01:02:06): Nice.
Ed (01:02:07 - 01:02:16): The only thing is, is apparently the Amazon— there’s an Amazon exclusive of the Dragonfly. Yes, that comes with Wild Bill.
Ryan (01:02:16 - 01:02:19): Well, Raphael Wild Bill.
Ed (01:02:19 - 01:02:20): Yes, which—
Ryan (01:02:20 - 01:02:31): and I think, doesn’t the other one— doesn’t it both of them come with him? It’s just the, the Amazon exclusive has a hat, exclusive pieces. Yeah, something like that. Yeah, it’s Raphael with a new hat.
Ed (01:02:31 - 01:02:36): I don’t know, I pre-ordered them all through um, big bad.
Ryan (01:02:36 - 01:03:28): It’s good. Uh, and then we got a tease coming up for announcements in Yo-Jo June. There’s a tease for a Tomb Raider/G.I. Joe crossover. Yes. Now, it doesn’t— there’s no— that doesn’t say no other information. I’m hoping for a classified figure. What I heard online, I was watching, uh, Viper Island and he was saying that it’s going to be the fall con exclusive. Okay, that it— chances are it’ll be the fall con exclusive. It’s going to be a deluxe release, and because it’s a licensed deluxe release, it’s going to be— it’ll probably be expensive like the, um, the Fortnite Snake Eyes figure was.
Ed (01:03:28 - 01:03:31): He wasn’t that bad. He was $60.
Ryan (01:03:31 - 01:03:45): Yes, $60 though for Snake Eyes then, but now add today’s pricing on things with inflation and the way everything’s going up in price. So I’ll say, are we looking at $65, $70 Canadian for Tomb Raider? Yeah.
Ed (01:03:45 - 01:03:49): And is it just a Tomb Raider? Because I could see there being a vehicle.
Ryan (01:03:49 - 01:04:20): I could see a Jeep, that’s something. So good thought, Ryan, that if it comes with the Jeep. So somebody else was speaking with— I don’t know if it was Brent had this talk or one of our friends at the store had this idea saying he thought that might be a 3¾-inch and it would be her with a Jeep. Because they haven’t really done a Jeep 6-inch scale, like Jeep, like normal Jeep. Um, that would also put it, you know, add to the price. You’d be looking at over $100 if there was a Jeep and a figure.
Ed (01:04:20 - 01:04:27): Like, because like, um, well, and also what version of Lara Croft are we gonna get? Uh, we’re getting—
Ryan (01:04:27 - 01:04:57): so Viper Island’s thought was it’s gonna be the, like, uh, not the original, so like the 9 or like the early 2000s. Yeah, still same idea, like t-shirt. They kind of like— I, I almost— the look to me, they like Angelina Jolie look, so it was like that classic-ish look. What t-shirt rather than— or, or maybe a blue t-shirt even. But yeah, you know, a couple guns, t-shirts, boots.
Ed (01:04:57 - 01:05:00): Are we gonna get first video game version? Are we gonna get movie version?
Ryan (01:05:00 - 01:05:01): Pixelated boobs?
Ed (01:05:01 - 01:05:10): Or are we getting, um, the later, like the, the reboot of it where it’s more grounded and so Uncharted Lara Croft?
Ryan (01:05:10 - 01:05:57): So I guess there’s a new Tomb Raider game coming out this fall. And that’s what the speculation— why they’re, they’re figuring the tie-in is a promotion to promote the game and stuff. So we’ll find out more in a few weeks during Yo-Jo June. Yep. Uh, NECA was pretty quiet. The biggest announcement I saw for us was they, uh, they finally released how they’re releasing those DuckTales figures. Yep. So it’s gonna be Uncle Scrooge, Launchpad, Gizmo Duck, and then a 3-pack of the nephews. Oh, okay. So the pre-order is already up for pre-order because originally we, we thought it was one nephew per figure. Yeah, but now it’s no individual figures and then the 3-pack. And the price point wasn’t that bad, it was standard NECA price point.
NECA, Masters of the Universe, and Transformers
Ed (01:05:57 - 01:06:07): Oh, that’s good because then I can get a Robo Duck or Gizmo Duck and then not have to worry about having a random nephew, Dewey, Gooey Louie.
Ryan (01:06:09 - 01:06:32): Uh, so He-Man announcements. Uh, we got a MOTU Origins Deluxe Beast Man announced, a MOTU Origins Deluxe 2026 movie Roboto, a MOTU Origins 2000X cartoon collection Buzz Off, Webster, and Keldor, and then a MOTU Origins Horde Slime Pit.
Ed (01:06:32 - 01:06:34): Yes, the Slime Pit, it looked pretty good.
Ryan (01:06:35 - 01:07:12): Yeah, it has some— I saw it at first, I was like, oh, it’s the same as my old, you know, slime pit. After looking at it closer, it’s like, oh no, the hand is— instead of being a hand that grips from the bottom, it’s like hands that grip from the sides. Um, Brent was showing me it’s got a cool slime pit, like slime attachment that goes— sits in it. It’s like, you know, like your plastic, see-through plasticky green slime that you can put your figure stand them in. And it looks like it’s got a built-in LED, so you turn it on, it looks like it’s glowing. And so if you don’t want to pour gooey slime through the slime to get to be slimed— yeah, it’s a built-in slime effect.
Ed (01:07:13 - 01:07:31): Yeah, I saw it available for pre-order, but I’m like, nah, I’m not gonna get Slime Pit. I’m still kind of miffed that I missed out on the Origins Snake Mountain because it— that was like shortly after COVID and it didn’t really show up anywhere. Never.
Ryan (01:07:31 - 01:07:47): I don’t think I ever saw that one in stores. Uh, okay, Transformers, uh, we kind of hinted at it earlier. They have announced a new release of the ‘86 movie soundtrack. Yes, with updated, uh, songs or versions of the songs.
Ed (01:07:47 - 01:07:59): So there’s already a new version of The Touch released with Stan Bush. Um, I have it pre-ordered.
Ryan (01:07:59 - 01:08:06): Yes, because on vinyl, there’s multiple colors of the vinyl. There’s a cassette version of it and a CD. Yeah.
Ed (01:08:06 - 01:08:46): Um, I have the 20th anniversary version of the soundtrack because it was, because it was like 6 tracks and then the rest is like, there were 6 tracks because like White Lion did the, the theme song. There’s multiple Stan Bush songs. Yeah. And then the rest is the Vince DiCola stuff. Oh, and then also the Weird Al. Yeah, actually, Dare to Be Stupid is on that album. Um, so yeah, I’m actually pretty excited for this to see how they reimagine it. Um, it’s also on RPM Records, so it’s the same record label that came out with the Dreadnoughts Cold Slither album.
Marvel Legends and Star Wars
Ryan (01:08:46 - 01:09:18): That makes sense. So So it’ll be well made. Yeah. Uh, Marvel Legends had a whole bunch of announcements this month. Uh, so Spider-Man: Brand New Day Spider-Man and Hulk, uh, figures were announced at CCXP Mexico. Uh, once again, toys, you know, spoiling or confirming that, you know, the Hulk is against in this movie. We knew Bruce— we knew Bruce was in it. Yeah, now we know the Hulk’s in it. We got a Daredevil: Born Again Daredevil and Jessica Jones 2-pack.
Ed (01:09:18 - 01:09:24): Yeah, I got that one on pre-order because I finished the— I finished the last episode.
Ryan (01:09:24 - 01:09:24): Yep.
Ed (01:09:24 - 01:09:26): Because I hadn’t watched Jessica Jones.
Ryan (01:09:26 - 01:09:27): Oh no.
Ed (01:09:28 - 01:09:33): Because I didn’t have Netflix when it first came out, but then by time—
Ryan (01:09:33 - 01:09:41): by time they showed up on Disney Plus, yeah, I’m like, I got enough other stuff.
Ed (01:09:41 - 01:09:57): I watch all the Daredevil stuff and I watch all the Punisher stuff. I just haven’t watched the Defenders or Yeah, so now I gotta go back and watch those. But it was like, yeah, Jessica Jones wasn’t too bad in the show. And I’m like, I just really want the Black Series Punisher or Daredevil because I— yeah, Daredevil’s still one of my top guys.
Ryan (01:09:58 - 01:10:01): So, uh, they also have a One Last Punisher.
Ed (01:10:01 - 01:10:07): Uh-huh. Yeah, I got that one on pre-order. He looks badass.
Ryan (01:10:07 - 01:10:08): He does.
Ed (01:10:08 - 01:10:12): And One Last Kill was really good. The only problem was wasn’t long enough.
Ryan (01:10:12 - 01:10:33): No. Yeah. It’s the biggest problem they keep running into in the MCU Punisher is that every time they show him again, it’s like we got to restart. It’s like, it’s not the Punisher yet. It’s like just before he’s Punisher. It’s like, and then just like this, by the end of it, he’s the Punisher. I want to see him being the Punisher.
Ed (01:10:33 - 01:10:35): I still look at him as being the Punisher at the beginning.
Ryan (01:10:36 - 01:10:41): Yeah. My problem is broken, even more broken than it’s the Manucci story.
Ed (01:10:41 - 01:10:56): That’s what I wanted to see. Like, this is the whole Garth Ennis run, and that’s where it’s like, no, we haven’t got to see him through. Like, we better get a sequel and we better see him throw her into a pit with a polar bear and the polar bear chew her arms off.
Ryan (01:10:57 - 01:11:01): Apparently she’s in, uh, Spider-Man.
Ed (01:11:01 - 01:11:14): Well, also, for being an ’80s kid and like seeing Who’s the Boss. Yeah, not only during Syndication but also during his original run. Yep. It’s like Judith Light was really good.
Ryan (01:11:14 - 01:11:17): Yeah, like I didn’t realize it was her.
Ed (01:11:17 - 01:11:31): I didn’t know either until she started. I’m like, holy crap, that’s Angela from Who’s the Boss, you know. So I, I could just see now her, like, her husband should have been Tony Danza. That would have been absolutely perfect.
Ryan (01:11:31 - 01:11:36): Would have been. Yeah. Or, or her bodyguard or something. He should have been—
Ed (01:11:36 - 01:11:44): no, but yeah, like, yeah, Pawnucci or whatever. It should have been— sorry, it should have been Tony Danza. Yeah, that would have been epic.
Ryan (01:11:45 - 01:12:19): Uh, just this past week they had a— during their live stream they showed off a 2099 Hulk. Yes, it looks— it’s fine. There were two two-packs, the Future Foundation two-packs. One is Mr. Fantastic and Spider-Man, and the other one is the Thing and the Invisible woman as Ryan freaks out because he’s a big Thing collector. Uh, see, sounds like the price point on these is not a friendly price point either. It’s like, I think I heard it was like $54 American.
Ed (01:12:20 - 01:12:32): Well, 2-packs. Yeah, so, well, the, the 2-packs used to be $50. Yeah, well, let’s see here. I’m just cranking up the pulse right now.
Ryan (01:12:32 - 01:12:33): You look that up, I’ll keep going.
Ed (01:12:34 - 01:12:40): I want that series. The only thing is, is— oh, no, they’re $60 US.
Ryan (01:12:40 - 01:12:42): Are they $60 US? Yeah, yeah.
Ed (01:12:42 - 01:12:50): So even more. See, I want them. Um, I already have Spider-Man, a Future Foundation Spider-Man.
Ryan (01:12:50 - 01:12:59): So why— he’s right up there. So then it’s like, I think if you look closely at it, I feel like his color is fading a bit. Like, it’s like that yellowing. To the white.
Ed (01:13:00 - 01:13:01): I love Future Foundation.
Ryan (01:13:01 - 01:13:02): That was a great run.
Ed (01:13:03 - 01:13:06): Yeah, but yeah, it’s gonna be— I think it’s gonna be a hard pass.
Ryan (01:13:07 - 01:13:25): Yeah. Uh, we got a San Diego announcement. There’s an exclusive 3-pack. It’s the ’60s cartoon style Spider-Man, the Lizard, and Electro. Yep. And then there’s a San Diego exclusive Professor Charles Xavier and Hoverchair from X-Men ‘97.
Ed (01:13:26 - 01:13:31): See, I saw that and I was like, how is that any different than the one that already came out?
Ryan (01:13:31 - 01:14:33): The chair is a little blockier, a little more— it’s different, you know, there’s a few different things. And then apparently it’s got this, these panels that open in the front that have— you can add like laser blasts. And they’re like, oh, but that hasn’t happened yet. I don’t know if that’s coming up in the new season. Yeah, we got some Star Wars announcements. There’s a Knights of the Old Republic 2-pack of Mission Vao and Karth Onasi. Okay. Yep. Uh, some— a Clone Commander, a Clone Commander Thorn with Gatling gun, a Clone Commander Doom who’s got like Doctor Doom colors, all were announced. Uh, San Diego Comic-Con exclusive ARF Trooper, uh, in 501st paint jobs with the AT-RT walker. So it’s like the little one-person chicken walker. And then a Jedi Grand Master— wow, I’m gonna butcher this one— Satali Shaan from The Old Republic. Yeah, these are all EasyPasses.
Ed (01:14:33 - 01:14:46): Well, the only thing I saw Star Wars that I was excited about was at Walmart yesterday. They had an AT-AT remote control vehicle.
Ryan (01:14:46 - 01:14:47): Oh, I didn’t see that.
Ed (01:14:48 - 01:14:52): It was $90 and I was like, oh, if—
Ryan (01:14:52 - 01:14:54): because I, I saw it in a video, it looks pretty good.
Ed (01:14:54 - 01:15:07): Yeah, like when I was a kid, I always wanted an AT-AT. Yeah, like I just wanted— I wanted Millennium Falcon, I wanted AT-AT. Those were like the only two vehicles I ever wanted. So if it ever goes on sale, I think I might just—
Ryan (01:15:07 - 01:15:08): nice—
Ed (01:15:08 - 01:15:08): buy it.
Ryan (01:15:09 - 01:15:46): Uh, there’s a new version of the Republic Trooper. Uh, they showed off some of the new mini helmets. There’s a Darth Vader and a Clone Captain Rex. Uh, this past month, in time for the movie, they shortly announced and put out that new Ultimate Grogu, the 1:1 scale premium animatronic figure, low, low price of $599 US. Yep. And then from the new movie, Imperial Remnant Warlord and Polar Mouse Droid. Okay, if you haven’t seen the movie yet, then you don’t know who they are.
Ed (01:15:47 - 01:15:49): No idea, I haven’t seen the movie yet.
Ryan (01:15:49 - 01:15:59): And then a new Force FX Elite, uh, Darth Maul lightsaber. And that’s all I’ve got for new toys.
Ed (01:15:59 - 01:16:01): That’s it for the new toys.
Ryan (01:16:01 - 01:16:02): Yeah.
Ed (01:16:02 - 01:16:08): And we’re, we’re probably over 60 minutes. Oh yeah, jibber jabbering about all this crap.
Ryan (01:16:08 - 01:16:09): Yep.
Ed (01:16:09 - 01:16:10): I mean, all this enlightening content.
Ryan (01:16:10 - 01:16:11): Oh yes, all this.
Ed (01:16:11 - 01:16:14): Thank you very much for all of our subscribers and listening.
Ryan (01:16:15 - 01:16:16): Wonderful entertainment.
Ed (01:16:16 - 01:16:22): Yeah. Well, why don’t we pull the pin and we’re probably going to go get some wings.
Ryan (01:16:22 - 01:16:23): Yes.
Closing and Socials
Ed (01:16:23 - 01:16:26): But, uh, Ryan, where can people find you if they ain’t finding you here?
Ryan (01:16:27 - 01:16:48): Uh, you can find me on the main show, True North Nerds, every other week. You know, we have a new podcast, uh, you know, with us talking about all the other nerdy stuff. Sometimes I bring up collecting just to talk to Brent about toys. Yeah. Um, and then on our Instagrams, both at, uh, True North— @TrueNorthNerds and @TalesFromCollectiverse. That’s where you and I post pictures of all these wonderful toys we buy.
Ed (01:16:48 - 01:16:52): There we go. All right, well, where can we find you? Me? Nowhere.
Ryan (01:16:52 - 01:16:53): Okay, good.
Ed (01:16:53 - 01:16:54): I quit everything.
Ryan (01:16:55 - 01:16:56): Lies, lies.
Ed (01:16:56 - 01:17:52): This is the last episode of the podcast. No, um, yeah, just find me on all social media under Snowhawk Cosplay. I don’t— I haven’t been posting much lately, but, uh, um, I will be at Niagara Falls Comic-Con helping out the Canned Cosplay Cards booth. And since I put this out there for— for Calgary and I had zero people, uh, the West Lakin. So that’s why I was like, I will go high. So how about this? If you were listening to the podcast and if you show up at Niagara Falls to the Canned Cosplay Cards booth and find me, I will pay for 5. Oh, go ahead. You got to tell— you got to tell me that you listen to the podcast. You got to show me that you’re subscribed. On whatever podcast platform you use.
Ryan (01:17:52 - 01:17:55): Yeah, tell them you’ve heard him give this offer on this.
Ed (01:17:55 - 01:17:57): This offer is I will pay for 5—
Ryan (01:17:57 - 01:18:07): how much you love Ryan’s performance on these podcasts and how he’s so awesome on here. Okay, because that’s the only way— if they said that, then you know they’re not lying.
Ed (01:18:08 - 01:18:09): Yeah, because nobody would ever say that.
Ryan (01:18:09 - 01:18:12): No one would ever say that out of their own, you know, free will.
Ed (01:18:12 - 01:18:19): All right, I will pay for 5 5 people, 5 subscriptions to get your own.
Ryan (01:18:19 - 01:18:21): Does Jack count?
Ed (01:18:21 - 01:18:45): If Jack comes up, I will pay for— so 5. I will pay for 5 because it’s $10 to get a card. Nice. So I will put $50 of my own money towards this. So 5. So the first come, first serve, first 5 people, I will pay for you to get a Can Cosplay Cards card. So there you go. Awesome. And, uh, and so that’s— yeah, Niagara Falls Comic-Con.
Ryan (01:18:46 - 01:18:48): Uh, when’s YetiCon?
Ed (01:18:48 - 01:19:23): Oh, YetiCon is Father’s Day weekend, so I will also be at YetiCon. Yeah, we’ll probably be recording next episode after that. So, uh, YetiCon in Blue Mountain. Um, also follow my social media because I will be having a giveaway contest because I have 10-day passes available to give out for YetiCon. Nice. And, uh, yeah, so, uh, see you in Niagara Falls. See you at Yeti. And what else we got coming out? Uh, Master Universe will be coming out, plus also June.
Ryan (01:19:23 - 01:19:25): So we’ll be talking about Joes next month.
